Timeless New York City Wedding Video Film // Elizabeth Street Garden
Sydney & Ran’s timeless New York City wedding. “If its only time, everything else can wait”-
They wed in the iconic Elizabeth Street Garden at night on a fall crisp day. Afterwards they walked through the city streets to a candlelit dinner filled with all of the ones they love at Balthazar. Finishing the night off for a rooftop party in the city.
I finished this film just before going to speak at the ROAM retreat about timelessness in wedding films. This is a topic I’ve carried with me from the very start of my business, and the way it plays out in my work continues to evolve with every film I create. What is timelessness in a wedding film? Are we doing too much? What if I stripped it back? What if it isn’t good enough? What if I am not good enough? Honest thoughts flooding my mind often when I create (the mind is a wild, wild place haha).
We all know a wedding film when we see one (most of the time). And if I’m being honest, as a creative, sometimes the fear of stepping away from what works feels slightly terrifying and a bit paralyzing.
I’m beginning this caption with a lot of fluff, so let me just put it frankly. This day and the vision that Sydney & Ran had for this film, lit the fire under my soul that has been yearning to burn for a long, long time. The smoke began releasing from within my creative mind. Releasing embers of something new, something invited and welcomed and warm and right.
We’re floating a bit, so let me ground us for a moment (a real theme in the pacing of this film).
The film is titled Only Time. That may seem pretentious to a lot of people. Who is this lady titling a wedding film something like that?? Yeah, you may be right lol. I could go in depth on why I chose that, but if you watch, I think you’ll figure it out (I also explain this more in the caption of their teaser film, so go read that if ya want to hear more).
Time isn’t trendy, or fake, or fluffy. It is brutally honest and beautiful, fleeting and beautiful, and never ending and beautiful. Recognizing the depth to time requires gratitude, presence and love. All things Sydney & Ran embody and intentionally brought into their day.
Time is theme
The ocean is a theme
Grounding you in moments and then taking you up into the dreamy clouds of those moments is a theme
I could go on.
All in all, this caption and the heart and soul that I put into my wedding films in general may seem like too much. You may be reading this rolling your eyes. Heck, I get it. But truthfully, I can’t offer anything less. Being present to the beauty, fleetingness of moments, honesty of life’s twists and turns, the ministry of presence, the sacredness of self and individuality.. I'd like to think it makes me who I am, and in turn, makes my work what it is.
I’m so grateful to partner with likeminded individuals who value time, beauty, and life through the same lens as I.
I hope you love the honesty, depth and journey of this film and caption.
Story forever and ever and ever and infinite into time we go!!!!
With love,
Mads

Ursula & Bryan are a match made in tandem bike heaven and let me tell you why- First off, I think it’s noteworthy to say that I truly feel like my clients are some of the coolest (and kindest and most thoughtful and fun) people out there If your first date consists of a 76 mile bike ride (to commemorate 1776 on the Fourth of July, of course)… I think it’s only fair to assume you’ll be able to e...
Heartfelt Bride's Thank You Speech // Hawaii Destination Wedding Video
มุมมอง 2.3K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
“It’s never a big moment or all of the highs, but all the small moments that made it special” When I heard April speaking these words at her and Yemu’s Oahu wedding at the Four Seasons Oahu, I knew they would be crucial to the story of their film These words were not only spoken, but lived in and acted on. It was apparent to me in the way they approached their day- creating an intimate wedding ...

This day and this wedding video are rooted in story and legacy- A day stock full of moments. I really don’t have the words to adequately portray my feelings towards it all or even describe it in a way that does it justice. The day after these two went on their first date, after finding one another through a dating app within 15 minutes of downloading it, they each individually, without knowing ...

These two reached out to me wanting a wedding film that felt unique, honest, and reflected their intimate wedding day in a way that their parents in China who couldn’t attend, could feel like they were there. This is the first film I’ve created that was fully spoken in Chinese and getting the translations back felt like Christmas Day. Before that, I just was reading body language and faces. And...

Romantic, Intimate, Garden Inspired Santa Barbara Wedding Film // Custom Song

The soundtrack for this destination wedding film was a unique one to make! One of my favorite things to do is incorporate the actual music from the wedding day (especially when it is played live) When Jess told me she’d have a single violinist playing La Vie En Rose as she walked down the aisle solo to Harrison, I knew I had to incorporate it. It was such a fitting song as a nod to when they me...

This is one of the most beautiful videos I’ve ever seen. The love, the storytelling, everything.
omgosh I love this, please can you tell me. What fps did you shoot at mostly, what were your basic color editing principles you did, what did you use for the graphics?
It feels nothing less than a movie scene

What boom mic you use?
This was beautiful! Great job!
Idk who you are Madeleine, but these films are gorgeous. Im a wedding videographer myself, and your style is so stunning.
This is beautiful in so many ways. Colors, angles, music, but most of all the story. It's incredible how much this makes me feel like I was there... 😊
Beautiful ❤
Beautiful work. How did you acquire the licenses for these two great songs?
Your wedding films are amazing! How do you get such clean ceremony audio on incredibly windy days? And what cameras are you using (your main camera and your drone)? Thank you!
