Chicago Day of Decision Rally & March
มุมมอง 10715 ปีที่แล้ว
On May 26, 2009 the California Supreme court voted six to one in favor of upholding Proposition 8, which prohibits same-sex couples from marrying in California. Rallies, protests and marches were held all around the country after the decision was announced. I went to Chicago's Decision Day Rally at North Halsted Street and Waveland Avenue to see how locals are reacting to the ruling

Johnny's Ice House

Johnny's Ice House in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood is one of the premier ice rinks in the Chicago area. I went there to speak to the owner, find out a little bit about the rink's history and the programs they are providing Chicago Public School Children. Here's a link to a story I wrote to accompany the video, with more information: sylviadjp.blogspot.com/2009/02/five-years-ago-tom-moro-jus...

Billy Corgan Interview
มุมมอง 144K15 ปีที่แล้ว
My friend Will and I interviewed Billy Corgan, lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins at Vintage Vinyl in Evanston, IL. He stopped by to shop for some music on National Record Store Day on Saturday April 18th, 2009. A lot of people have been wondering what the song playing in the background is. Here's a link to it: th-cam.com/video/NxyqRkEW-Pk/w-d-xo.html
"I used to work at a record shop called Mike Hunt. I mean, i mean Record Hunt. Edit that out!"
Hes the GOAT. Guitarist/Songwriter ... ok maybe not best singer but hes got such a unique voice and man, back when i was a kid, and id hear Today, Cherub Rock and Disarm on FM radio all the time i thought he was like some butch dyke. The photos in my cousins Siamese Dream booklet didn't help dissuade me of my childish (fair. I WASa child) assumption. 10 years later they're my favorite band ON THE PLANET and im row 7 dead center in front of him at Nassau Coliseum for thw MCIS world tour... which was what 2 ½ years long??? Is that possible - I read somewhere once that Metallica holds the world record for going on tour for the longest amount of time I think it was 3 years.... but if that's true im sure mcis is a close second... Anyway whenever i see him. On stage. Solo. Or with WHOEVER is the smashing pumpkins at the moment- I've had the honor and good fortune of getting to see him play live with that band and is wanting several times and the future and briefs and on the o.g. lotto store in total I've seen him at least two dozen times. Every tour. Every version of the band. Every . Bass. Player. Even Mark. The dead dude. Yeah. darcy is missed. But so is nicole. And ginger. And Melissa... and well... what can i say im a new order and joy division fan too, I've actually seen order alive and hooks the light, so I'd actually seen Jack play base before Jack Bates was even a member of the Smashing Pumpkins and then of course I got to see him play with the Smashing Pumpkins for the first time on that Marilyn Manson tour 2015.... so yeah. Just saying. I'm a fan for life
Billy I freakin' LOVE you. Your music will forever be the essence of my youth. xx
I've seen interviews where Billy seemed like such a dick! Then you have interviews like this one where he seems so cool, friendly and inviting. But one thing that is always evident is Billy is intelligent! And I like smart people haha I'm 35 now and altho I've always known of the SMashing Pumpkins I've never got into them or gave their music a real chance until very recently and I must say this band fucking rocks!!! A very talented and interesting band. I've gained a whole new perspective on Billy Corgan and he's a very interesting guy! I'm definitely a fan
Best band in the world
Bill Burr is a record connoisseur?
Imagine just being in a record store and standing alongside someone who has a unique insight into the circumstances that led Kurt Cobain to take his own life?!
my left ear
A true musician. I love the vinyl editions of his albums. I think vinyl > high res streaming Tidal > cd > Spotify
I find it very hard to believe this was filmed in 2009
It was! Sorry you don't believe that 🤷🏿♀️
I miss record stores, especially when I found the Aeroplane Flies High boxset for only $20.
YOU WORKED IN A HEAD SHOP RECORD SHOP IN WELLSVILLE OHIO CALLED "THE HEAD SHOP" SOLD RECORDS, HASH, MARIJUANA, PIPES, PAPERS, BONGS, STONES, PARAPHERNALIA, RECORDS TAPES POSTERS BLACKLIGHT PARTY DECORATIONS LIGHTS JEANS TOPS JACKETS IN THE 1970S ON MAIN STREET
Wikipedia, and Google (an to an extent, TH-cam), connect those dots, now ... ... though in a far less personal way, of course ... ...
Yay! I found the video where he giggles!! :D
One of my ears feel neglected
lol its the cheeks!
The Lovers - "Frog 'n' Snail"
If someone can tell me that music is the background that sounds
I got a kick out of that. funny.
huh? his voice is exactly like he 's singin, it's obvious
what are you blathering about?
He's carrying Alphabeat :( this is sad.
I love Smashing Pumpkins and Billy Corgan with a passion, I just wish he wasn't such a fucking douche. <.< He's okay right here though. :3 My love for him blinds the bullshitery. xD
Is it just me or does he look SLIGHTLY like Eddie Vedder?
*mimicing Japanese voice* SMASHUUUU PEARL JAMMMM
@@US395Official lol
He still looks ridiculously young
They don't need to go shopping with him.
How so? I mean a band before recording in the studio, is nothing but a band of musicians. I think he was suggesting that listening to an album on vinyl is pretty much like hearing a band perform live...there are often no overdubs or 24 tracks...or something crazy. It's just raw and original.
He's fuckin' gorgeous.
*Irish
@JoddTamison dumbest. comment. ever.
@EddieVedder13 haha yea man
@NoRulesInNam thats what i was thinking
@jumpinjoe88 no he says vinyl is more inviting and warm. ask any audiophile / producer/ mixer / audio enginer
@JoddTamison He meant digital is more inviting. If you re-listen, you'll notice he said when young people hear vinyl for the first time they are surprised... because it's more real. That's what he was saying.
hmmm...ssssorry
@ak47popper is that the "rotten apples" album? I got that for Xmas one year and its still sitting in my collection basically untouched.
i hate how he says vinyl is more inviting a lot of the music nowadays is about distance and getting away/ digital robot no emotion
HAPPY MONDAYS POSTER IN THE BACKROUND!!
@ipiximeat you can tell by his music that he's pretty damn sharp.
I'm not posting this for a thumbs up, I really wanna know from all the fans out there, old school or new, What is your favorite SP album? Mine = pisces iscariot.
@NEXUSXEMNAS23 Nup. Not true, sorry.
@tetilt Actually if you have an an touched vinyl record the sound is better quality that digital or cds because for cds and digital releases the sounds is compressed but the sound from vinyl comes from the physical properties of the disc so they dont have to worry about compressing the file to make it all fit
He was wrong about the vinyl being more realistic than digital.
banana pancakes in the back ground 2:40 maybe?
CD isn't a proper album format. LP is. bloggzilla.blogg.se
@EddieVedder13 most people's are..
ha, he had The Children Of Lir by Loudest Whisper, an Irish record ;O)
he seems annoyed. when you see a musician like billy corgan in public, its cool to say hi and stuff. but god, i can just see in his eyes what hes saying in his head, "yeah im billy corgan, but im a person. not a god." i dont know, people like him dont seem like they like people interviewing them and asking for autographs, photos, yaknow.. all that stuff. that is what you ask them at their gigs. when the fans are supposed to be annoying. not at their favorite record shop. cool you met him tho.
Why's his face so big?
celebrity face. why would he be famous if it wasn't
Whenever a question is asked i imagine Billy is completely zoned out because of how faint the question is... but then he answers the question :/
I think this shows that everyone has two sides: True, he's egotistical about his music, but at the same time, at a 'normal' level, he is a personable, nice guy!
