Camp/MTB/Hike/Fishing In Georgia
มุมมอง 735 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hi! Jenny and I needed to get away to the woods, so we took a quick trip to the Allatoona Lake area just north of Atlanta. We only had one full day on the ground, but we got in some mountain biking at Blankets Creek, lunch in Woodstock, a hike at Old Rope Mill (with some fishing along the hike), and enjoyed camping on the lake. Enjoy!

Funny thing is, Kelly often calls me Big Iguana. Loved the mangrove tunnel.
Great job Jenny!!! Now, Jason gets to clear 'er up!!! Beautiful scenery!!!
Wow what a great place to paddle board, water is so clear.
What a great time to visit there!! So peaceful! So pretty. Nice camp, I dig it!!
Think about all that paint over spray that is now in the river 😢
thanks for the video jason, im thinking of taking the family to the keys in march it will be our first time there, do you think its too cold and should come a warmer time? or is it ok for swimming in march?
Hi! Funny coincidence, we were just there for Thanksgiving, and it was exceptionally beautiful! The Keys can have some cold days, but it is generally a little warmer down there than even mainland south Florida. March could be either way, honestly, but I would expect it should be warm enough depending on your tolerance for cold water. (I'm a native, so 85 degrees is cold water lol). We are heading to Bahia Honda (about halfway down the chain and possibly the prettiest spot in the Keys) to camp in a couple of weeks, I'm hoping it warms up a bit - it was 44 this morning in SW Florida where I live! Enjoy your trip!
It’s a very pleasant and inspiring landscape. Thanks for sharing
Awesome job! I just finished my first marathon in the form of a 45k trail run. This looks really challenging.
Great trip, thanks for sharing your experience
WTG Jason and congratulations on both milestones!!!
Thank you so much for taking us along on this adventure! And congrats to you on your anniversary…I camped in many places throughout central and western Florida growing up, but have yet to make it to the Suwannee river area. And a shout out to all the folks who worked long hours prepping the trails for this event. Best wishes on your next journey…Chris in Melbourne. BTW, did you make any of gear you used on this one?
Thanks Chris! I did use the hydration pack, waist pack and shirt that I made for my 50-mile run in May. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Great achievement, congratulations, Jason! Recently, I tried walking 50 km, which is much less than 50 miles, and even then, I experienced cramps and pain. So, much respect to you. It’s amazing that you used your own gear
Thank you so much!
UPDATE: After just over 3 years of occasional, light use, stored dry and indoors when not in use, this board catastrophically failed. A large split opened in a seam while the board sat on a beach (on an island I paddled to, conveniently 😳) rendering the board completely useless. As the warranty had expired, I did not contact Isle. To be fair, they may have offered some resolution, and I am not necessarily criticizing them as a company, but this has confirmed my previously held belief that inflatables are best used for very casual, close-to-shore paddling. Many of the places I choose to paddle are unforgiving, so I will be sticking to rigid boards unless some technological advance makes inflatables more reliable.
Nice looking fishing spot. New sub from my channel to yours
Thanks man, back at you! Hopefully we can run into each other and fish sometime!
@@thejasonwins3765 Sounds great!
OMFG....you were standing on a BRIDGE and said.."Lets try the fly rod"......REALLY ?! Nothing came to mind that that idea might not be so good? Traffic passing by you not more than 4 ft away, and you want to try casting a fly rod?
Clearly I was not thinking about non-Jedi-master-level folks watching this video when I made that choice, I should have pointed out that I was using a HIGLY advanced technique that many mortals are incapable of utilizing. I call it "PAYING ATTENTION TO MY SURROUNDINGS." Using this technique, coupled with a super-human genetic mutation I have that allows my head to pivot on top of my neck, my eyes to move to observe beyond what is directly in front of my face, and my ears being able to pick up vibrations in the air indicating vehicles approaching at high speeds from some distance away, I am able to choose when to randomly swing my fly rod around in a completely uncontrolled manner so as to hopefully avoid having any negative interactions with passing motorists. Clearly, this is not something most people will be able to do, and I should have clarified that.
At 25:09...at least you didn't get stuck by a yellow jacket!!!!! Lol!!
I’ve popped over from your other channel to see what you’re up to… nice ‘quiet’ fish next to the highway I see.
I was out there again a few days ago, it's a shame that the most active spot out there right now is on the highway :( Thanks for popping over!
@@thejasonwins3765…this has more of a danger element than your safe sewing channel 🐊 (Where is it? Behind you….aghhh)
Technically, I have been bitten by more sewing machines than by American Murder Logs 😂
@@thejasonwins3765 🤣
Even the fish dont like Fly Fishermen....LOL!!!! <just a friendly little dig at a bug caster is all>
😂😂
As always with fishing some good luck and some bad but an overall win I think 😀
For those who dont know, OSCARS are a FOOD FISH in their native areas. Quite tasty.
I've eaten them a few times. Unfortunately, many of the places I encounter them aren't what I consider trustworthy water sources, but I keep a few now and then from the swamp. They're quite tasty, but not as much meat as their size suggests. Thanks for watching!
oh Im totally with you, a Marshmallow should be an even golden brown with the odd white patch, Theres a special place in hell for burnt marshmallows 🤣 Looks like you had a fantastic trip. Also loved your Hunker Down Tshirt (who doesnt love @campingwithsteve and loved your wifes skeleton Tshirt. Loved watching your journey while I sewed on my singer HD (and now I know you wont hate me for that 🤣)
Nice job Jason. Good wheelie hang time as well. Looks like a good overlanding setup also.
Damn dude, you’re skinny 😮
I wish I would have been up there when you visited. Looking forward to hitting Blankets Creek in November when I am there for Thanksgiving. Good times!
Fishing and shooting....a successful day!
Thanks for watching, Stephen!
Great video Jason. Keep it up.
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
What’s up, Jason? When’s your next ultra?
Hi! I just ran another 50K (a casual one with friends, not an actual race), and I'm doing a 50K race in the fall. I'm still debating whether I want to try 50 miles again to see if I can do it in the 13-hour range, but if I do, it will be someplace (or time) that's cooler temps! Thanks for watching!
@@thejasonwins3765 awesome. Tell me how I can reach you outside of the tubes of you…I’m was the short dude you ran with you during the Keys50. You need to come north and run up here with me.
Congratulations, that's a lot of miles on feet !
Well done. You f'ing did it. And a Bobbins finish.
Awesome Jason.
Proud of ya man.. Keep it up.
Congratulations!
Thank you!
Awesome job, Jason! Finishing is an accomplishment in and of itself, and by doing so, you are ahead of 99.99% of the rest of us. Also, time has a way of erasing all those negative memories, and before you know it, you will be planning and training for the next one! I can't wait to see what adventure is next!
Thank you so much! It's funny, as we drove home along the run route, I kept thinking, "I guess it wasn't THAT bad ..." lol! Thanks for checking out the video, I really appreciate it!
That pump station you where fishing at towards the end has some nice snook, tarpon, and peacock bass.
awesome!...I love swamp hiking!...cool video!
It was good running into you today at the rookery. ...and yes, people do watch the channel. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Bill, it was great meeting you! You should be able to find my email address in the "about" section of this or my other channel, get in touch and we'll go for a run sometime!
@@thejasonwins3765 Interestingly, the email address doesn't seem show up any longer on either channel.
Are Oscar's edible ? You caught quite a few. Gators must like em. 😊
They are very much edible, I have a video on this channel where I harvested a couple and made fish tacos. I don't eat a lot of freshwater fish here, there is a lot of agricultural and other runoff/pollution here, sadly. But the swamp is a good filter so these would probably be as safe to eat as it gets. I might bring some home next time! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Nice fishing, great video. Have a fantastic day.
Great day out on the loop road and nice video. Thank you for sharing 👍 😊
Nice!
The strand banned game cameras as well as drones, with no real explanation as to why ! I just wonder WHY ?
Cryptids are in the area, example like a family of skunkapes or something else like Dogmen. The powers that be don't want people capturing them on film hence the banning of game cameras and drones in the area.
😂
It's the pigmen that escaped Krammer.... Oink oink.... ✌️
Looks amazing
Love the sewing machines
I hope you reminded the gator that taxation is theft....
Nice 👍
Nice run. Great video 👍
👍🏻🇺🇸😎
I bought a old custom spinning rod from a thrift, basically a noodle. Caught a 7 1/2 steelhead on it
I liked the bike riding video.
Nice vid. Fished there a couple times. I’ve heard there are tarpon in there at the right time.
I have been surprised at the places I see tarpon around here! Hooked a couple, still haven't caught my first, though.
