    I know this is 3 years old, but I just want to point out that you typically wouldn't just remove all of the walls on the inside of the second floor. When building a house irl, there is usually a wall that runs perpendicular to the supports called a "supporting" or "load-bearing" wall. This would go from the bottom floor all the way to the roof supports. It's not always there, however in older times when steal beams weren't really an option, a support wall was very common; and a necessity in multi-floor homes. As for the split double floor, the wall dividing the living area from the kitchen would likely be where the second floor ended. Just a tip, great video. I'm definitely using your shading and light ideas in my maps!

      A very good tip indeed. I don't think I would design it the same way now a few years later, having learned a lot in the process. Glad you enjoyed the video! :)

    Hello - Awesome content thank you. I put hours of work into a DD map, using the same walls you have. Decided I would like to add the same textures you have, but it's missing from my textures selection - in fact my textures list is... VERY limited!! SO I attempted to download another asset pack, upload it to the map, this cleared the map of all my wall work and I can't get it back. Even re-adding the asset pack to the map hasn't worked. Could you please tell me (a) if there is a way to get all my work back, and (b) which Forgotten Adventures asset pack to download to get the same cave textures... I know not all the FA asset packs are DD friendly - thank you in advance

      To be frank, it doesn't really matter which assets you use. You can use the build in tool to create more or less an identical map like this one with any asset pack. (or the base assets). The theory still holds up.

      That is an asset in the Forgotten Adventures Dungeondraft Integration. It is a colorable asset, so I changed the color to blue and then added some blue lights on top of it to make it glow! • @fakefairytale05
      @fakefairytale05 ปีที่แล้ว

      It kinda is, however, Dungeondraft is significantly easier to learn and is cheaper. For somebody unfamiliar to any photo editing software I believe it’s the better option. (Like how I started). It also has a very concenient asset selection, you’d have to have your files with assets pngs open a second screen in order to select them in photoshop. However, if the goal is to make the best looking map photoshop of CSP wins every time. (Just look at the FA maps Patreon)

    I think it would be much easier to avoid putting objects on layer 400 and reserve that one only for wall shadows. So you don't need to fiddle that much with the shadow line

    • @fakefairytale05

    One more excellent video, I really learned a lot from your videos and ended up mastering several techniques. However, the most difficult part for me is having the creativity to put it on paper. I would really like a video giving tips on that, and some way to make markings on the map easier, as I always have to keep making and erasing to get a better sense of proportion.

    • @fakefairytale05
      @fakefairytale05 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! It's always a pleasure to hear my videos are helping. I recognize your challenge, it can be easy knowing how to do something, but what to create can be a bit elusive sometimes. I'm not entirely sure if I follow your video suggestion. Could you clarify what kind of marking you're referring to? I generallydon't struggle too much with proportions because I try and keep a few key measurements in mind that I use to reference when scaling up/down any other assets. Things like the average size of a bed about 6,5 to 7ft on average, so about 1,5 gridsquare. For larger sizes I try to use real world examples, fixed sizes I know (size of specific rooms in my house etc.) to determine how large I need something to be.

    Great tutorial, I love the technique you used to blend the grass, but also add detail

    These are similar techniques to the ones I use but I never used a small ridge like that, looks very good I'm gonna start doing that, thanks!

    Where did you get those cave-to-chiseled-stone assets? I don't see them in FA.

      They were FA assets, but I believe they have been reworked/replaced with something else. I’m not dure but you might still be able to find them in their legacy packs.
