If you want more of a Steam Punk effect, look at "shoo goo" it's a fabric adhesive Ironworks and welders use to patch holes on their clothes. Could probably just shoo-goo that pocket on, no stitching. Can also use it to permanently affix scrim to fabric on rucks, etc. Tough stuff. Holds up.

The scenario you laid out here is definitely something to war game and consider.. among the many possibilities one would be contending with.. Everyone has their own opinions, and see things from different angles.. to me it his situation and my response will depend on just how much of the fed is left, how much they interact with the small enclaves scattered about.. I’d imagine the extent of the population left would be a factor.. there are many things to take in to account. I tend toward not tolerating heavy handed demands or threats so brazen to demand tax or tribute. I’d likely remove his spirit from body for him.. post haste for such a threat. Again, without being certain of many other factors.. it would be difficult to overlook. I wouldn’t want to entertain the idea that I would allow behavior like this to stand.

The guy who stopped a violent scumbag assaulting people on the subway in NY is on his way to prison bc he was white, and the guy doing the assault was black. Derick Chovin is serving life bc he made an arrest and the guy died of a Fentynal OD. During the BLM riots that insued, a couple stood outside of their homes with their firearm to protect themselves and their property from a violent mob - the state wanted to lock them up so they could bust rocks and make license plates. And there was a 17 year old kid protecting his neighborhood from those same rioters when he was attacked. He blasted the attackers and the state wanted him put away for murder. It could have gone either way, and if he was tried in a state like NY, it would have. So go ahead, dehumanize them. But you might be one of them someday if you ever leave your farm. When you get out, its only justice that waiting for you will be a hill billy idiot tick tocker explaining why you should have never been let out as a 2A argument.
