Congratulations, you did great , good luck it was very cold that day
Great video. Quick question. Do you pull the flask out of your vest to drink from it? Or are you able to drink it while it’s in the holster?
Thank you! I didn't complain nearly as much as I wanted to. :) The vest I have is made to hold two bottles and a hydration bladder. The bottles I use are Camelbak Podium Chill (because they came with some other stuff we bought and I'm cheap). I take them out to drink. The bladder has the hose with a magnet that hangs across your chest. If I ever buy a new vest, like when this one stinks so bad, I can't stand it, I'll probably look at the ones you don't have to remove. But I'm not sure I could handle the straws bobbling in my chin the whole time.
💩ok
You better believe it!
Sweatbands are cool.
You know it!
Dude. You look so good in those sweatbands. Your wife is a lucky woman.
Yes she is.
Good call on tapping the breaks before injury. You are very fortunate to have a supportive family and at the same time call you out on your shit! Good luck on all of your future 2025 races.
Thanks! Yea, they like to be the voice of reason. It's not just my pride that's hurt anymore!!
Dude! I ran the NewYears Day Marathon here. I was running late and showed up 5min before the start. It massively thinned out once the halfers finished. I agree it was less like a race and more like a supported long run. I also PR’d it which is always a plus. I wouldn’t fault your watch either for the distance. My Garmin showed about the same. When I looked at the map it was wonky under that tunnel. So I think that was the culprit.
Nice work on the PR. That's great. It's definitely a PR friendly race. I was going to see the Day marathon as well, but, well, you'll see my excuses in the next video. :P I've showed up late before. Never fun, especially for something like that!! My watch always seems to run long. That was the highest % long it's done, but it must need to be calibrated or something. But it's good to know someone else had the same issue.
Are you running the Chevron Marathon this Sunday?! My first marathon, I’m so nervous!
I'm going to give it a shot! For some reason, Houston always gets to me. :) I don't get nervous at other races, but that one gives me trouble. At least until it starts, then it's awesome. I'm sure you'll do great. It's a fun time with lots of good people and a great atmosphere! Good luck and let us know how it goes!
Hahaha, didn't know the universal symbol for dumpster fire was the same as cupping balls!
I prefer to think of it as fondling.
Dude. Could you go any slower???
That's what your mom said.
Was the race hot or is that red head hot???
Both.
Great video. I considered doing their marathon in March but was kinda turned off by the 2 half-marathon loops (even though I just finished a marathon that was 4 loops). As a 4+ hr marathoner, I also get pissed when they run out of advertised race treats and the sponsors pack up shop early. Lastly, enjoyed the extended after race commentary.
Wanted to add, if you haven’t already, consider the Dallas Marathon that’s held every year in December also. Way better course and crowd support. Feels like a “mini-major”.
Some loop marathons are fun, this one is just kinda boring. Especially when you finally finish and they've half packed up the event.
I haven't done that one yet. It's on the list though! I can't remember why I chose this one over it this year...maybe 2025!!
Only place I know of that you can legally run on an interstate. 🎉
It's the only place big enough for your mom.
good job!! very inspiring 🎉💪
Thank you!!
sorry to hear about your knee pain, do you have a pre-run stretch routine you do consistently? also, have you ever had to deal with plantar fasciitis? struggling with that right now, can't rest it while training
Stretching is one thing I need to do better at. It's not as easy since turning 40. :) I have had bouts of plantar fasciitis. For me, it is usually my shoes. Either they're worn out or whatever brand I'm using doesn't agree with me. If it starts happening, I usually get new ones or switch brands and it goes away. Hope it gets better for you!!
@@motivatedbymedals thanks for the reply, i sent you an email with a question about trail runs, have a look when you get a chance
Why haven’t you made any more ruck videos??
They're hard.
My knees still hurt from this race. You should run faster, slow poke.
Ouch.
Masterful editing on this one, brah.
Heck yeah.
Why are you so slow? Huh?
The sentence “I have Bonnie Tyler in my headphones and there is an alien up here” is one wild statement.
Wild things happen on the trails!!
Thanks for providing video of this course. It looks like there's some good runnable sections. I need to check it out next year.
Nice. Glad it was helpful.
We have to put the afterparty at the square becuase theres no alcohol where the start line starts. Nice job! Thanks for mentioning 3 Bros Running taking over. People think the Texas Bridge Series is ending.
I figured it was something like that. I look forward to seeing what you guys do with it next year.
Hey, I was there and I saw you! I did the 50K, and I can confirm it was hard, fun, but hard.
Oh, wow, I bet the 50k was hard! I was exhausted after 2 loops. Nice work.
running out of water at aid stations are a deal breaker for me as well, just asking for trouble. i don't understand how any company that has put on races for years can miss something so cheap and essential. no excuse
Yeah, I'm sure they'll figure it out. I've never had a truly bad experience with RAS.
There was definitely an email, not sure why you didn't get it.
That's good to hear!
Back to back with Laporte!! Great job
Yep. Probably not the smartest, but fun! Makes LaPorte that much more difficult. Thanks for watching.
Great job
Thank you!!
Damn that red head is classy.
No joke.
I was there too I got a 2:24, and I was completely soaked, and i also agree they could have done a better job at organizing the location, like idk about anyone else but i never got a chance to eat a pancake before the race cuz they took forever to get set up and taking pictures, idk if they were ment for post race but that makes no sense cuz they were making em before the race, but yeah, I had fun. i had a goal for a 2:30 and beat it by a good amount, doing a full marathon on the first of january in kingswood. Hopefully everything goes well. see you next year
Nice job! I've ran the Kingswood one before, it's a pretty fun event. Good luck there. The food line at the Houston Half was pretty disorganized this year. I almost skipped it because it was just a train wreck even getting there. Once I found the entrance, there was no one in there. Too bad, really, it's usually a good race.
Your toe nails are nasty, yo.
Bro, you know your wife would win the port a potty destruction contest over you. Who are you kidding?
I was glad to hear you say it was the hardest road race you’ve done because I thought the same about the half. But I will do it again next year.
Yea, it was pretty tough. I'm still sore!
no medics is ridiculous
Yep. Hopefully they fix it!
100% agree, the problem with any race enforcing time limits from the gun time ,instead of chip time, is that it wrongly encourages slower runners to get in earlier starting corrals to have a better chance at finishing on time
Yeah, people did that on the Houston Marathon last year. It didn't go well then either.
Thanks for your video
Thanks for watching!
That intro was fire, yo!! 🔥
You know it.
I was there. If you’ll be in Galveston, I’ll try to find you and say hi.
Plan to be there. Be sure to be early enough for the shuttle.
If you want to talk, goto starbucks! Priceless!!
Yes, right? The last think I want to hear while trying to escape the world is that your bf sucks.
Do you need some cheese to go with that whine??😢
Yes. That would be a helpful thing in the middle.
I know this is an old video, but hope you will still reply. I am considering signing up for this marathon or either the Woodlands marathon. As a first time marathoner, which one would you suggest?
(This is my other channel.) If it were my first, probably the woodlands over Galveston. Galveston is fun, but it’s a loop course and kinda gets boring after the first lap and is more just something fun to do on a weekend. The Woodlands is a sort of figure 8 course that’s a full 26.2 miles. If you want the full marathon experience, woodlands is probably better. More people, better course layout, more of a formal event.
@@MRNBricks Thank you so much for the info! I watched your most recently video of you running the woodlands half marathon and you mentioned that this race was a little harder than others you’ve done in the area so that sorta scared me a bit
@@brookemechelle1457that’s mostly the time of year. It always seems to land on the first day of the year that’s hot. The heat will suck it out of you. The Woodlands also holds my PR from many years ago before I got old and lazy. It’s very doable.
Dude. You can ramble with the best of them.
You love it.
Looks like a cool place!!🎉❤
Heck, yeah!
Chicken units, FTW!!
It's accurate.
I like this headphone for the summer months, really sweat proof and i appreciate the actual buttons. Only downside is during winter a knitted hat is not comfortable over it. What's your next marathon?
I don't really have the hat problem in Houston. :) But we'll see in the summer. I didn't think of that. I actually ran a marathon last weekend. It went a lot better than expected. You?
@@motivatedbymedals maybe targeting something in December or February.
Ever try socks that have individual toe sections? I wonder if that would help in combination with the lube.
I've never really been able to find ones big enough for my feet, to be honest. I've heard good things though. But, I've not had too many issues with blisters in between my toes. Most of the ones that I get are on the side of my big toe, the sides of the ball of my foot, and the sides of my heel. I can't remember if I showed them in the video, but the Woodlands marathon a couple years ago I got really bad blisters, the worst I've ever had. (If not there, I know there's pics on my website for that event.) :) I don't think I had any on my toes even then.
That intro is fire, yo!!
I'm gettin' it!
It was nice seeing you out there! I passed by you and told you I liked your channel. I struggled as well to finish. Unfortunately I was over the cut off time. I needed 2 more loops to finish! Oh well, next time!
That was you! I was hoping I'd see you there. I had ups and downs, I could deal with all the other nonsense, but the hip thing is driving me nuts. Hopefully it'll sort its self out. Congrats on your progress! We were watching the live results, good for you for going until the end even if you didn't make the full 100. That's an insane achievement. Good for you!!
Maybe you got the gout like me. Hips were my issue but it's better now with meds. Good job getting the miles you did. I can't do the long distance anymore without training. When I was young I could sign up and finish with no issue. Habanero is crazy. Thanks for the vid.
I'd definitely not as young as I used to be. Ever since I hit 40, I've been falling apart. :) Kids suck up all my time and I don't have the time I want to train like I should. I didn't think of gout. I did that 5k in July and ever since my right hip just starts screaming after about 12-14 miles. I've taken a few weeks off and started stretching a bit, so hopefully it'll sort its self out. I have a pretty heavy schedule starting in November/December. And I signed up for Seabrook!!
I’m racing it this weekend, I was so confident until I watched your video. Now I’m terrified 😂
hahaha. Last year was brutal (and the packet pickup thing was terrible, I think it's what got me). This year hasn't been as hot, but it'll still be really nasty. Just go slow and don't be afraid to take breaks. Good luck!!
Wishing you the best 🎉🎉
Thank you. It's not the heat that gets me, it's the direct sunlight!
Yes! That sun can zap your energy . I’ll be wearing my bucket hat from Costco. It helps me tremendously and it can hold ice as well. And wearing a buff around my neck with ice helps too!
Nice. I bet that'll help. I've tried the ice stuff. All that really seems to help me is going slow and finding shade. Good luck this weekend!
You’ll get it done, I’m sure of it! See ya there!!🔥🔥🔥
