Very interesting rewrite. I like how you killed off Sagewhisker before making Yellowfang her apprentice and having it be Yellowfang's choice out of necessity, that's the one thing that would have fixed Yellowfang's secret for me. I think changing Starclan Yellowfang to value personal choice would have drastic consequences on the story via Leafpool's Wish as she's the one to (acting independently of Starclan) pull Squirrelflight into Leafpool's dream and lie to her about being barren and tell her to take the kits.

I really enjoyed this rewrite, it makes much more sense. I remember reading yellowfangs secret and being so mad!!

I always love when fans give the women characters the actual love they deserve, I hate how the Erin’s just treat all the she cats so awfully. One would think a group of all women wouldn’t be so awful to women characters

I love how the rewrite you did portrays yellowfang! But I feel like it also tries to justify too much of what brokenstar did and also downplays how insanely brutal he was.

Make sure when you record audio you record in stereo not mono! Voice over audio like this should ideally be balanced in both ears at the same level, but all your audio is in the left channel and its painful to listen to

I loved this video. But in answer to the question at the end, there is one specific thing I might want to change/keep in this frankly awesome rewrite. When I was a kid reading Yellowfang's book, (which I think was actually the first ever warriors book I read that wasn't the manga-) I didn't exactly see Yellowfang's 'power' of physically feeling others' pain as.. well, a power. I always thought it was MTS- a rare condition that at the time I suspected I may have had. At some point, whether it was during or after reading I do not recall, I learned about MTS. "Mirror touch synesthesia". I think it might in fact have been directly because of the book that I found out about it, though I don't remember how exactly. Maybe I recognized my 'symptoms' in Yellowfang and did some googling. But either way, because of that it was something I really related to the character about! And one of the things I still remember, though it's been probably 10 years since I read it. MTS is a neurological condition, so I personally wouldn't feel comfortable taking away that part of the character, especially with how it was one of the things that allowed me to relate to said character. That's probably the one thing I would change! Or, I guess *keep* from the old version, but maybe portray in a less 'oohh magical' way- if indeed that was how it was portrayed in the book. Its been many years since I read it so I don't fully recall if it was haha! Edit: Yeah, after looking it up again the wiki states Yellowfang *does* have mirror touch synesthesia?? Not sure if this was confirmed or not though? So yeah no I definitely would want to keep that and maybe just portray it a little differently in the story. I certainly wouldn't consider it a 'superpower' really, it's a neurological condition and, at least in my experience, a disability that is still widely unknown or misunderstood by most people. One which is very personal in my case so the erasure if it would be a big no for me!

yellowfang’s secret (the original) made me unreasonably upset when i read it. i LOVE yellowfang (i mean, who doesn’t), but the way she seems to do a complete u-turn halfway through the book and doesn’t act like herself at all…it feels so wrong. plus her “power”. awesome rewrite, beautiful art…love this!! i think i would pay real actual money to buy your version as a book you’re just THAT COOL

Gosh, I hate when Warriors cats just adds plot points in súper editions, without really thinking of the plot holes they cause. This is especially tedious when it comes to medicine cats, because they ALWAYS need to be tragically forced into the medicine cat role. Great video, I like your re write!!!!

This is such a good rewrite to me, yellowfang’s super edition always felt me confused with about everything you covered. (like yellowfang’s ability to feel others pain) The super edition kinda reminds me of “Skyclan’s destiny” and how that felt me more frustrated then confused.

my biggest issue with yellowfang's secret isn't the story per se, but the lack of agency from yellowfang, who is completely different from the one we know in the TPB. Ur rewrite makes a lot sense for her, bravo!

With brokentail training the kits early it could not only be he doesn't want the clan to be seen as weak but he thinks he is protecting them from internal threats in the clan like how he suspects his mother killed his sisters. At the same time however, if the kits die despite how much training they had its their fault, shouldnt be so weak, and yellowfang is the perfect scapegoat even outside the clan to cover off his mistakes and shift blame to as the kit killer. I mean, the guy had a pretty turbulent, inconsistent childhood even knowing yellowfang is his mother because of both parents, even though it wasn't all necessarily yellowfangs fault. He wants the clan to have structure and to be taken seriously, things he likely didnt have and goes way too overboard to he no longer knows his reasonings for things, he now just does such things because he wants to, theres finally some control in his life and he calls the shots. At least, that's my theory for this story, I love it, by the way.

Oooo!!! I really like this take on a rewrite!! I have a rewrite/AU of mine which includes where Yellowfang’s kits all survive! (The first thing that had been established was Tigerstar’s sisters living and one of them replacing his place as an ambitious leader.)

now THIS is a yellowfang I can truly love-a yellowfang that makes sense while still keeping the core of the character, and I also particularly love the cloudpaw/pelt moments. I’m gonna pretend that it’s allll canon now. you did a really great job with this rewrite and the artwork!!

Really good rewrite! If I'd change something, I'd make Brokentail/star ignoring hunting patrols into why the kits die so easily and why the elders are banished. And also the reason why Shadowclan becomes to aggressive as they start raiding other clans' camps for food.

OMG thank you! I am reading the book right now. (Around the time Sagewhisker is telling Yellowfang that she needs to be a med) To me Yellowfang did a 180 mid book and it threw me in for a loop. And I think the rewrite was way better than the original

Details that i love: Brambleberry jumping in front of Rainflower, because Bramble was Crookedstar's REAL mommy Yellowfang grabbing at her stillborm kits, trying to stop their souls from leaving her, but not even this medicine cat can raise the dead Nightcloud clearly in tears from being neglected by Crow, but she channels all of that sadness into love for her newborn, baby Breezepelt is healing her grief One of Mapleshade's kits is grabbing at her face out of love BABY SQUILF'S EYES Flintfang not only watched his apprentice die in fornt of him but had to carry the poor baby back to camp (how long did that take?) and then watch the poor kid's poor mom learn of the news
