the biggest fall secret (Mille Lacs Lake smallmouth bass) No More Secrets October Edition
Cold weather is in the air, birds are flying, and the leaves are turning. Mille Lacs is about to really get good and bait selection becomes more crucial as the water gets colder and colder. 2 of the best parts about this time of year would be the fish get pretty big during this time frame, they also get grouped up pretty good. Which will talk about in next months NMS. Till next time Boyz, you know where you’ll find me.

Late summer to fall transitions for smallmouth bass

End of summer to late fall can be a hard time to catch bass. Smallmouth are starting to feed more but there are still schools of fish that haven’t made the push out deep yet. Today we went outside of Mille Lacs onto a local pond in Eastern MN so we could give you an example of how to catch fish on a smallmouth lake that sets up like most smallmouth lakes do in MN that may be closer to your hous...

Why your not catching smallmouth bass in August

We found’em and we found’em deep! Today we broke down targeting smallmouth bass in deep water. I guess that term is relative to what you are use to seeing. There are absolutely no studies that show bass are feeding up for winter. They cannot store unsaturated fats like warm blooded creatures because they do not need to feed up to put on fat to use as a fuel source to stay warm or as insulation. I think smaller feeding windows, schooling up of bass chasing spawning minnows and die off of vegetation among other things are making it seem that way.

    • @briantix7693
      @briantix7693 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Maybe Not the reason, but when you catch them in big numers while they are feeding it sure seems that way.

      @@briantix7693 Ya, it can be fun! I have noticed on FF sonar that when I get a bass chasing my lure it often times does not strike until one or more buddies show up. The competition for food might be another trigger when they are schooled up in the fall.

    The retrieve is unique. Mainly because you explain it one way (which is the traditional way) but your slow cranking and upward rod movement is not doing to the bait what you’re saying it’s doing. Honestly it’s probably why it works so good for you, it’s different, even though you explain it to be the same old way. Definitely going to try it this way though. It’s too good of a bait for it not to work on our local lakes better than it does because nobody uses it on the small lakes.
