Fixing HVAC Vent Selector | 2008 Jeep Wrangler JK | Part Number 68004203AB
มุมมอง 12K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I go through the process of replacing the steel cable which allow you to change the vent which air flows through. In many Jeep Wrangler JKs, this cable forms a kink though normal wear and tear, which can prevent the driver from using the defrost or switching between vents altogether. The part number for this cable is 68004203AB. The audio in this video is a little rough at times,...

Replacing lock cylinders | Jeep Wrangler TJ
มุมมอง 35K7 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video we go through the process of taking out and replacing the lock cylinder in a Jeep Wrangler TJ.
Thanks for the video! Grabbing a bulb now!
Similar operation for a YJ but the clip is much more difficult to get out and back in.
Thanks. New to me Jeep JK owner. Need all the help I can get.
My cylinder started backing out and couldn't find anything on trouble shooting. After watching this, i discovered the retention clip had fallen out. It was sitting in the bottom of the door pan. Put the clip back in, and it fixed the problem. Thanks for the video.
So you replaced holigen with a LED?
Yes, replaced stock halogen bulbs with led bulbs.
@@letsjeep4271 no need for resistors?
@@jimmymartin359 I need an answer!
It was a direct replacement, nothing extra, and I have had no issues and they look great.
Thank you. Great video
Thank you for posting! We followed your steps and it worked perfectly. A couple of things we experienced: there is a plastic panel below the cigarette lighters that first needs to be popped off to get to the bottom bolts. We found that our white dial that the cable connects to (the end near the glove box) was stuck. This caused the kink in our cable originally. We manually rotated the white dial to get it moving again. Now it works great with the new cable installed.
I was distracted by the Fireball bucket 🤣
Where did you get a new cable? I got one, but haven't looked inside my Jeep yet, but my cable appears to be for the temperature, not the blend door. I just searched eBay and no one has it. I got my part, possibly the wrong one from a Mopar dealer in Missouri.
At the time they were available on eBay but after doing a quick search I am not finding any on there either, or nearly anywhere else. The one place I found just now is from Jegs, which I think is a reputable website, not for sure though. When I was searching I ran into the temp control cable a lot. Usually the correct cable says something like mode selector or in the case of Jegs it is Mopar Accessories CABLE MODE.
@@letsjeep4271 Yep, Jegs is a real place just like Summit Racing. I'll check that out.
@@letsjeep4271 I did save a search for that cable yesterday on eBay, but just tried Jegs but had to use your year. Mine's a 2007. But it's $15 to ship. I'll just wait.
@@letsjeep4271 I went to Crown Automotive's website. They only sell to dealers, so I searched through some of their online retailers and chose 4WheelParts. I don't know if I'll ever get it, but Crown shows still having that part number and showed a photo. The wrong one I have that's for the temperature may fit or may be too short since I haven't tried it, but it'd be nice to have the right one.
Good luck! Hoping you get your part sooner rather than later.
Thanks for this!!! I just replaced mine using this
Glad I could help!
This is the only video I could find on this and what a life saver. You can't teach an old dog new tricks...wrong. Thanks so much for this great video.
Awesome job! Thanks for the video, this helps tremendously!
Do you have a link for the cable
I got the part from Ebay. There are several different sellers, I just looked for a seller with the fastest delivery time, as some didn’t have any available or were delayed. You can search up the part number and find many options.
Excellent video thank you.
That stiff operation is likely because the control slider (the white round disk behind the glove box) has become misaligned. It is likely the reason why the cable became bent. Take it off with the one screw in the middle of the disk and put it back on again. If you look at the backside on the white disk there are 3 channels that three 1/8" pins go into. On the front side of the disk there are arrows that show where the 3 pins should be aligned to when putting the disk back on. The 3rd pin is below the center of the disk and in front of it, towards the cabin side. Align things and put the disk back on. Check for smooth operation.
I went back and made sure the slider was aligned properly. It seems to be a little less stiff. Appreciate the tip!
thanks david thats the info i was looking for. seem the old grease was getting like glue. cleaned and regreased fixed.
What size e clip is needed?
why didnt you test it????
I like your easy tone. I hope mine replacement goes as well.
Did defrost worl
Thank You! Thank You!! Thank You!!! The other videos I saw were very discouraging and involved way too many steps to do this simple job. You gave me the information I needed to get this done in very little time (less than an hour)
Anybody have a part number? Some jackass tried to steal my jeep and destroyed the lock. Dealer and ever parts store says there’s only one option for the cylinder lock but this video clearly proves that the style I have from the doors exist.
I ordered a full set of 4 locks (ignition, 2 doors & Tail gate) for my 2003 Rubicon from a guy on ebay. Fantastic Deal! He sold me the set of lock cylinders keyed to my original key for less money than it would have cost me to buy 2 Mopar locks. His name is Walt Townsend. The locks he sold me were manufactured by the same company that made the OE Mopar locks.
Does taking that bar out cause any issues later on?
Haven’t had any issues yet! No telling what could happen down the road.
Attach the rod to lock cylinder prior to installing it.
Thanks LetsJeep!!! I appreciate your efforts & your sharing them with the rest of us.
Other than the nausea...helpful video.
I’m ganna swap my half doors for full doors, can the locks swap like this?
People commenting about the camera work, but once you’re actually working inside the door you quickly realize how hard it can be. Thank you so much for the video, I couldn’t have done it without it!
Your video is invaluable! Thank you so much for sharing :)
camera work sucks, need Dramamine!
can see nothing.
Why not just order a new set of 4/6 speakers? I seen Polk has a set on Amazon.
because 5 1/4 sound much better
your camera work needs work
Nice video. I really needed a visual and to know the best practices. This helps, thanks!
Nicely done and thanks for the vid. EXACTLY what I was looking for. I especially like the comment about dust. I call it "Jeep dandruff" and I don't remove it, either.. It adds character and excitement when I turn on the heat for the first time after having the top off all summer... Take care, my Jeep bro.
Good content, need work on your camera view...thanks.
How were you able to get the clip on so easily? With that vertical metal bar on the left side blocking the entry to the lock cylinder, I can't reach up and get the clip on. I've taken it to a locksmith and a auto body shop and they couldn't reach up and get it on at the horizontal level either. You made it look so easy.
Kenneth Lucero That's a really good question... personally, I have smaller hands and forearms so I can semi-easily shove my hand into that small space. I could see how it would be difficult for anyone with larger hands. I believe I tried using pliers with the otherside, it worked, but was a pain. After all this rambling, the conclusion is that there is no easy way, just keep trying different things. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
When I open the dash up and take the speakers out I don’t have that bracket that you cut out. Do certain years not have it.(2004 wrangler X)
Mason Canner, as far as I know, all years of the tj should have it. When you opened it were there 5.25 speakers or the 4x6? Is it possible that a previous owner did some kind of mod?
it had the factory 4x6 speakers, and the previous owner was a older guy and he did nothing to the jeep at all.
Interesting, so are you unable to use the 5.25 brackets?
Lets Jeep I’m not sure, I ordered the brackets just Incase, there coming this week
Well if there is no factory bracket you might just be in luck. Maybe it'll just make the install that much easier.
Too bad it’s not a t15 for half doors
How did you go about getting a lock cylinder that matched the ignition key?
Benjamin Fox, I used the same lock cylinders from the new doors. To get them to match, I took the cylinders to my local locksmith to replace pins, although he ended up just filing them down. Hope that answered you question.
Lets Jeep so i dont need to buy new ones? Damn that saves money
Also putting the window handle is not fun to do, I find that annoying
great video, I like doing the half door it is much easier, Did you just buy new cylinders to replace the door
serf3469 Thanks! Regarding the cylinders, I actually just had the old cylinders changed to match my original keys. Not sure if it was cheaper or not, but I like only having one key for everything.
