DX On a portable radio OK1CF Czech Republic 40meters
While camping with the family I was listening to 40 meters on my Grundig G3 Traveler portable receiver and I picked up OK1CF working many stations in the US. I even heard him work Maui Hawaii just before I hit record. It goes to show you that band conditions can do all kinds of things.
Receiver was 10:52pm 3:53 UTC from Pittsburg, KS EM27pi

Guanella Balun 4:1 Test Signal Generator / Oscilloscope
มุมมอง 1.8K7 ปีที่แล้ว
This was a quick test to resolve a long running conversation about the Guanella balun at out weekly SEKARC coffees. The test setup is a signal generator feeding the balun under test a 220 ohm resistor and an HP 100MHz oscilloscope. The test showed that my 10 min balun build did work at frequencies above 6 MHz which is to be expected on a type 61 core. Thanks for watching. hamprepper.com sekarc.net
Is this Power Line Carrier?
มุมมอง 2358 ปีที่แล้ว
So is this modulation some type of power line carrier? I was dropping off the mail which happens to be right under a 69kv over 12kv power line and this modulation took out the am station I was listening to so I tuned to a frequency that didn't have anything coming in right now and drove a few blocks along the line and could hear this changing pulsed pattern. I'm not sure if it's power line carr...
Indoor Plant Update December 2016

December Indoor Plant Update They are still alive i guess thats good, I picked a batch of peppers and have been trying to keep the plants watered. It's quite hard to keep the plants moist with the humidly so low over the winter. I still need to get more light on the plants they just don't look 100%. I have been asking around about finding one of the high pressure sodium street lights they are r...
Indoor Plant Growing Experiment One Month On
มุมมอง 798 ปีที่แล้ว
The plants have been growing indoors for one month now using cheap florescent lights (not grow light type) F40 T12 6500K, 2300K, and 4100K. I added some LED grow lamps to the mix to improve the spectrum I'm sure the lighting is greatly inadequate but the plants don't seem to mind. This is my first experiment with growing plants indoors so I'm sure some of the more experienced people are throwin...
Lights Of America Crap Shop Light Let The Smoke Out
มุมมอง 11K8 ปีที่แล้ว
This Lights Of America 4 Foot T8 Florescent Shop Light decided to billow smoke all over my work shop! ARGH! The failure was a Samxon 200 volt 47 uF electrolytic capacitor in the switched mode power supply. These days bad electrolytic capacitors in switching power supplies account for a HUGE number of failures to the point of being almost engineered to fail! Check out the sight www.hamprepper.co...
Is Perfecta .223 Ammo Any Good
มุมมอง 2.4K8 ปีที่แล้ว
I came across Perfecta .223 at my weekly trip to Wal-Mart. The price was right $14.94 (Government Handout) for a box of 50. They are annealed and brass cased (They look mil spec but from what i read they aren't). I wan't to know what everyone had to say about Perfecta .223 ?

Unboxing a 3FT Anker lightning cable. The last one i had lasted 2.5 to 3 years stuffed in my pocket every day under constant use i would highly recommend the previous model. I ordered this model to see how it will do. I will keep you posted down the road a few months and will see if its still working good. Product Website www.anker.com/products/A7136011

HamPrepper Gamma Seal Food Storage Buckets
I just got mine yesterday. Your video allowed me to tie the veshmeshok period. Thank you Sir!
I design and hand make my own military equipment and the simplicity of Soviet gear blows my mind
игри на волята българия сезон 6 някой?
Would be great it you mentioned the wire length and how well it works!
Maybe I'm missing something, but why do we need cardboard on the bottom and sides, but not the top?
I think because the chances of the metal lid touching any of the electronics is slim.
I have shot the Perfecta at 100 yards with a Remington 700 (bull barrel) and with a scope put 10 rounds in a hole less than the size of a dime. "YES IT'S GOOD AMMO"
Really Scary Install
Nice set up !!!
That is a really neat idea. Thanks for the video.
You should have sealed the inside seams and underside of lid where the handle protrudes and the bottom seam with aluminum tape.
How do I wash it? Mine smells like marijuana.
15 mins to explain how to put cardboard in a trash can? lmao 1 min would’ve sufficed.
How mush tap water does it use per a cycle or perhaps drain of your basin???
Can you just spray inside with a liquid rubber sealing spray
Before you make the straps into a bow, pull the cord together and wrap it around the top of the bag. Only then do you put the straps over the opening.
Can you just use spray rubber like flex seal and line the trash can?
👋☺️🇷🇺
You're all set, so after the EMP you pull all your communication gear out and attempt to talk to everyone about the experience when another EMP goes off??? DAAA
AMAZING!!! Bought one of these and have just had it, without being able to do anything with it, failing many times to copy photos. Like a damm Rubics Cube. Just had a notion to TH-cam “tie Soviet napsack”, and here you were. Thx a million.
This is a great portable. I love portables so much, way cooler than HAME radio junk. CQ CQ 74s
so hows that going to provide ,,,,,anything of usefulness
I have one of the old T12 models from 1996 which I used as a blacklight. And, it was preheat with cheap quality circuit board starters as well. At first, everything worked perfectly. Until one night when I was using it for a science project. We were doing a model of the solar system and mine was glow in the dark. I was using it for that project and then, the cheap circuit board starter let the smoke out. And, you can't use conventional glow bottle starters on them. You will never be able to get the glow bottles to glow to get the fluorescent tubes to fire. The ballasts don't output enough power to facilitate the glow bottles to fire. My dad brought home a new Advance R2S40TP ballast from the school district where he worked (they used 120 volt for the portable classrooms) and installed it into the shop light and it worked perfectly ever since.
Embrace your OCD. Some people claim there is no "D" in their OCD. :o)
Why do you people lie? This doesnt fucking work. Did the government pay you to put this on youtube?
Why not trace the bottom and top straight to the cardboard and cut the inside of the line?
Part 2?
When I first started to watch your video I thought "OMG, now that is an Industrial Strength design" because it looked like 3/4" plate steel to me. But soon I discovered it was plywood painted black! It's a nice design and should work great as a temporary base even if it isn't made from 100# of steel plate!
What size cardboard did you start with?
15 full minutes of taping cardboard inside a trashcan. all the thrill of watching paint dry and none of the danger.
Much better than I was going to word what we watched 🤣🤣
If you thought this was bad, wait until you hear about the old T12 version from the 80s. They were preheat, but used cheap electronic starters and would fry the crap out of the lamps when they reached EOL. 34-watt lamps did not work well in those fixtures and would fry the ballasts. The fixtures did not like the cold, either. The system was designed to be cheap, and some other manufacturers even copied it and used it in their cheap ballasts for other shop lights, so beware.
I was wondering if by chance you have tried to climb into the garbage can to test making a phone call or test a wifi connection to see if it actually is working as a faraday cage?
okay OSCAR
Thanks for this informative and helpful video. I see a problem with cardboard in that it’s a very nice host to bacterias & mold…a very happy to live, grow, and propagate…..it doesn’t take much moisture to encourage this. Maybe as someone else suggested, spray insulation (something impervious to mold, bacteria, etc) would work better. edit to add you have a nice voice.
God dam kids! You're scaring Grandma! :)
Lid gasket?
How did it work out for you? What was the furthest contact you made? Come on we need info bro don't leave us out here in the dark!
So I am trying to find information how to hackishly connect a small dipole to coaxial yet can find no real information. I have two L shaped pieces... what do they go to do I solder both to the center? One to shield and one to center? Both to shield? There is literally no info on the web about this.
heh, I concur, that it wasn't even worth breaking out the multimeter...sigh
So when alarms go start packing cans with electronic s. And seal tightly and get in bunker love
So easy made so complex and difficult and that’s not even the important protection part of sealing the lid from a emp using aluminum tape right before the nuke hits
Thank you. What’s the length of each leg? Also, does the feed line have to be a certain length?
Do any of you know if it’s necessary to ground your galvanized can?
It is always a good idea to ground a faraday cage. Some say it is not necessary but it I would if you can. Along with that is never story faraday cages on carpet as the carpet can hold a static charge.
I can’t watch this guy. This is what you call too much book learning and no common sense. 🤦♀️
Do you have a specific criticism?
12min in, and you're still measuring cardboard.
Couldn't you just do dry canning?
I come from r/whatisthisthing. Interesting. I'd imagine the strap attachment at the top is of practically unrivaled integrity when properly cinched.
Creepy ass water hole lol
Bitchin
We have an SJ10 and it works just fine for the three years we've had it but I would like to raise the float level by about an inch. Can this be done without the services of a plumber?
Got a buddy who welds? Cut an inch off the float rod.
Wet the cardboard, then form it up on the outside first, leave to dry for a day or two and reinstall on the inside
Would it be a good thing/helpful to coat the inside of the trashcan with a spray insulation before you put in the cardboard?
