Well this brought me to a strange thought that you would probably know more than anyone i know. Do squirrels smell like wet dog when they get wet? I'm sure they smell like wet squirrel but i don't know what that smells like. Watching you pet Pippy yesterday and this video being so wet outside got me thinking. Let us know next time Pippy forgets her umbrella 🌂 😂😂

My Hammy just doesn't realize how good he has it. It was the previous owner who didn't release him and rehomed him after 7 years. He's got way more freedom here but I feel sorry for him to not have been what he was born to be. He will live longer inside and he knows he is loved. Your squirrels look happy and know they are loved too.❤

My little darlings on the white snow are so cute and they are so brave. When they run in the snow It's like they running around on the fluffy clouds. Haha. Eating snow makes you feel refreshed, right? Fluffy?

It's-8 below here in Wisconsin right now and nothing is moving. The poor squirrels are going hungry today rather than facing the bitter cold. I have a video of my hairless squirrel that was outside in -20 below 2 years ago. He had no hair from the belly to the top of his head. I never expected him to survive and yet 2 weeks later the hair was finally growing back. That is why i still offer peanuts 🥜 in a shell but give them better nuts ,ike pecans and hazelnuts as the main food. They supposedly spray an antifungal chemical on peanuts so they yeild a better crop but it is toxic to animals in large doses. Ever since i started to feed them better nuts they never had this problem again.

In California, the summer is like winter for animals in the Eastern half of the country in terms of food scarcity. In fact, the ground squirrels here will fatten up in winter/spring after the rainy season and then hibernate in the summer to survive the dry season. But the drought is over as of last winter, so there was much more food for the other rodents to eat, hence the population boom. Which would mean the squirrels were competing with all the other rodents for vegetation to eat. So, I'm guessing these squirrels may have run out of vegetation to eat and had to switch to hunting other animals. Just my take on it.

That really is amazing how you can pet and scratch Pippy's back. I love that relationship you have with her. Especially with the males chasing her nonstop.

I’ve seen ground squirrels nearly all my life and I can’t remember seeing one eating a darn thing. My guess is that availability of the voles and the lack of their normal food, (right because why go kill something when you can just harvest or forage it?), is the reason behind it. I think you did a very good job on this video

I'm a man and it breaks my heart that God designed nature with such a 'Rapey culture' it's SO cruel. Even I chased off a few last year. Their little cries pierce me, God help them( will he?) In this case Bless the poor females especially the older ones who may be in danger giving birth. God Bless you Amy!

This albino turkey is adorable. Is it your nasty neighbor who feeds them? The turds are big, similar to Canadian Geese. I can imagine that they are not good for squirrels if they should ingest any of it. Their was a true 100% white albino squirrel on a golf course I worked at in 2019. It was beautiful and was around for two years, but we didn't see it the third year following the winter. I am not sure if it was a male of female, but very strikingly pretty. It really stood out. I have a couple of short videos I took on my cell phone that I still look at from time to time that warms my heart.

It very interesting I am thinking in the direction you were going with it I think it’s self preservation. The moles share a large part of a squirrels diet and they don’t want the competition and the predators too .
