What is the job of the Oxford Chancellor? Well, it's, it's easier to say what it isn't, you know, it, it, it isn't to run the university, which is the vice chancellor, um, and, and should be, and then there's an excellent vice chancellor who does that very well. Um, and it isn't a political position, you know, it is not to be a, uh, a Labour chancellor or a Tory chancellor or anything like that, even though It's, it's been held for long periods by people who've been in politics on one side or the other.
Um, it is to be the, to be the head of the university, in other words, on ceremonial and important occasions, the chancellor is the, uh, is at the very top of the university, if a, if a head of state. Visited the university, they'd be expecting to see the Chancellor, you know, it's that sort of thing. And then, it is to express the values of the university, to be somebody who can articulate what Oxford is about.
And this is what I find particularly exciting about the possibility of doing that role in the next, which is now being turned into a ten year, uh, mandate. Which is that I think in the light of things we've just been talking about, What happens in Oxford in the next decade is critical to the success of the UK.
People often think of universities as, um, you know, a bit remote and, uh, they're always asking for money, but don't hear that much about what the university is actually doing for the, for the country. People glimpsed it a bit with Oxford. in COVID. Yeah. Because such crucial work on vaccinations was done in Oxford.
Um, but they're not necessarily aware of all the many other scientific and technological advances that are now taking place in Oxford and others taking place at other UK universities. So I see part of this role, which gets reinterpreted in each generation as articulating To country, government, the world.
What it is that Oxford is doing, how important that is to the rest of the world, because that helps build the partnerships, you know, the future endowment and the public understanding that it's really important to have the world's top universities in Britain.

Will Liz Truss Be Back? | Jimmy's Jobs LIVE
I know more people affected by Black Friday than I do with machine learning jobs 😂
Thing is Lee, imagine if people did know more about it? I reckon there is one kid in every class in Britain that COULD be good at Machine Learning, that is a small army of them and these people are **probably** most likely to be neurodiverse and perhaps get let down a bit by the existing system. Thanks for watching and helping us spread the word! 🥊
@ I agree or poker players who are bored :) it’s a unique skill set. (I lost my money in Black Friday too and I’m not talking Amazon shopping now :))
do you think there's a way to make the insight-heavy podcast cost effectively?
This is why we'll never get the Eboys Podcast back (Fuck Alex)
Has he learned the difference between “abolish” and “triple” yet?
Cheeky.
Another snob trying to tell people what to think. The beauty of podcasts is ghouls like this aren't needed. Find whatever you love and support it whatever way you can. Screw mainstream media and its attempts to tell you what to like.
We have ignorant politicians who arnt capable or skilled enough to take advantage of our own populations skills and business savvy , and who only know how to loot their country . .
Bro thinks he’s the main character 💀
Turn the mic off 🔥🔥🔥🔥
And now we have a great chance to negotiate a better deal with US BRICS APEC or any other training block if Starmer doesn’t sell us down the river for a new outfit for him and his wife
You've already had that "opportunity" since 2020, yet here we are.
i think we got the wrong guy
Those fuckin teeth make this shit unwatchable🫨
You are talking out of your xxxx, baldy man.
Go away Billy, you have shown yourself to be a clown.
What about freedom and the ability to not get replaced? Not that the politicians have done anything with their opportunity to listen to the voters
A good conversation like this is underappreciated here. You should have had more than 10 likes in 4 days! I've done a few small scale charity auctions and have some tricks of my own, but hearing Lydia's (or Lindsey's) has given me a few ideas. I wonder if a shorter version would get more interaction. Our attention on TH-cam is not good.
Hi Adam, Sunny (Producer of JJ) here, thanks for your comment, you are correct, I think a major part is how we package an episode like this, Lydia has an amazing story, but not a huge profile, so we have tested a few thumbnails and titles with this to draw attention to the best parts of the episode. Always open to new ideas so feel free to suggest some. Clips are in the works, both shorts and <7 minute TH-cam videos
Starmer is a WEF stooge, so are most of european "leaders" The country will go to the dogs and the people will suffer even more.
William let’s have a bit of Trump mania in the UK ! You failed as a Conservative Leader who really gives a shit about what you think or say ?
Zionazi all
50-60k as a graduate. You’ll be lucky to get that with 2-3 years industry experience in London.
Utter rubbish
Actually quite disagree on the actuary analogy. Understanding behaviours of different sorts of people makes a huge difference. It's genuinely, probably, the most important thing if you want to be good at that career, poor example.
It's done. There is no going back You can't make the Uk great again You can break your economy and make America great again and be the poodle 🐩
Thats rich, coming from a failed Mekon Alien. I bet the tories are wishing theyd gone for Pretty Penny 3 years ago.
The primary role of a university chancellor is to bring in money, hence why politicians often end up in the role. Unlike US, a large fraction of university funding derives from the government, either as direct tax payer funded subsidies or through government schemes like student visas.
Your market makers are so corrupt they are literally rsping retsil investors until they're all poor , UK poor, their children will be poor, and eventually the money they make will be stolen in the cycle
He puts on a ‘royalty’ accent by lowering the last word of each sentence. What a pillock. I dread the damage this person might cause.
He’s a slime ball putting to use his student politics. One to watch. Why do I suspect he was involved in thieves Reeves job destroying budget? He’s a bad ‘un.
He didn’t even answer properly
He did. 1. Learn an important language 2. Study international relations or something relevant 3. Try to come from the best academic institutions possible
@@stiller44you don’t just apply on a website to become a diplomat. You have to work your way through the foreign office. He should explain how to do that.
People don’t understand that Poland didn’t become richer only because of joining the EU but because Poland was structurally attractive to invest: good education, simplified law, high birth rate, excellent working class. Polish GDP in 90’s before joining the EU was 7%. If EU didn’t over regulated Polish law in late 90’s Poland would be even richer without EU structural funds.
Another mouthpiece for the military industrial complex. There is no lack of clarity from Trump on Ukraine,he wants peace, and an end to the bloodshed.
Hague represents the political elite that many voters are tired of and thus he provides an excellent recruiter to the likes of Trump and Farage. Hague is fundamentally part of their success.
I like him. I just hope his constitutes vote for him as THEIR MP and what he does for them and not as a Labour MP. There can be a big difference.
Germany has better local and regional focused Banks.
He is everything thats wrong with the British Right. Neoliberal/NeoCon and pro replacement migration.
Ah it's "a pint in every bar" delivery boy drunken Billy Hague
A reckoning is coming. Fire everyone and remove their security clearances
You are as clueless as her and the British people deserve better
Js not rly true , British quality of life is much better
I hate this man He stands for everything I hate about the lying faaaarrrrr left Toris Reform is UKs only chance to change direction with this woke and NUT ZEROS shite
Hague turned out to be a huge disappointment.
This penis never lacked clarity. Wjhilst Foreign secretary, he stated that Ghaddafi had escaped to Venezuela at the time he was being murdered by the Clinton backed thugs in Tripoli.
Huh Trump does not want imports.....lol so out of touch such a liar....How many American cars are sold in the EU. How many farm products and materials from America are sold in Europe. The EU bans things from America. Trump want a level playing field.
Trump is scary for fools like Hague . Wait until he has had peace talks before screaming like a warhawk.
If this guy lived in the US he’d be a Republican.
I love William Hague because he gets EVERYTHING wrong.
Trump is the man to lead the West out of its degeneracy.
This guy is standing to be the next Chancellor of Oxford University. I hope it's vapid waffle the university is looking for - here's their man.
Yea take no notice to mè
TRUMP 24 ALL THE BEST FROM THE BRITISH WORKING CLASS, THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN
Hague needs a history lesson.
