Another Howzat Restoration channel favourite Rod gave me a clock he received for his 40th birthday that needed a bit of loving.
First up I pulled it apart, finding to my surprise the carcass of a huntsman spider inside. The clock mechanism was in good working order so right to proceed.
I sanded back the timber body up to 240 grit sandpaper and gave it 3 coats of lacquer.
The metal parts turned out to be covered in a brass clear coat, making it impossible to polish up and this coating had deteriorated leaving the brass unrecognisable.
I sanded the clear coat off with 1200 grit sand paper and ran all the brass parts over the fiber polishing wheel, everything came up a treat!
Reassembly was easy once I figured out how it went together again as it had been a couple off months between disassembling and finishing this project.
I think it turned out pretty good!!!

A haul of $10 for this lot and I decided to take on the straight line first.. It's string was frayed making it hard to use, the rest cleaned up nicely. I bought some chalk to refill from the local hardware megawarehouse! Anyway, it works nicely now. Hope you enjoyed! Howzat

2 bucks was the price from the Coffs Flea market. Initially I wasn't sure what type of knife it was, I thought it might be a letter opener but a google image search told me it for opening oysters and called an oyster shucker. An easy clean up of this well used and abused chisel! Not perfect and doesn't look new but good fun all the same. I straightened it up with the heat from the sun, used a mixture of C.A glue and baking soda to fill in the damaged parts on the plastic handle then sanded, polished, painted and sharpened, it's now ready for service. $1 is what this sliding bevel cost from Jonno at the local flea market. All the good stuff being brass, metal and wood to work with. From what I can make out the maker was "Boland". Another 50c purchase from the Coffs Harbour flea market, these were pretty tight and rusty, vinegar cleaned them up nicely, the metal frame spent 2 days bathing in the Vinegar on came up a treat after a polish. $2 was the price from old mate John at the Coffs Harbour flea market. At first it didn't really catch my eye but closer inspection revealed a few interesting metal parts and some nice wood, and I didn't have one.
