Love inquisition, lots of real difficult political choices to get into and its very mass effect in its story. Every time I see that opening recap about Orsino I always remember that Orsino mentions his "friend" Quentin, the blood mage who murdered Hawke's mother.

i know you showed your keep decisions, but pls make sure you to double check if you have also exported them correctly, as there is a button to press to finalize the export and since another youtuber i watch forgot to do that she was saddled with the default worldstate and had to restart a couple of hours in. And sometimes the keep is just malfunctioning too. So better to check it now to see it all lines up than being hit with the disappointment later. An easy way to check is to talk to Leliana and see what she says about the HoF, in default the warden sacrificed herself so if you hear her talking about HoF being alive, you are good to go :) Also make sure to always talk to companions and advisors after their initial scene, they may have more to say :) The bubble over their heads is a good indicator for situational events. Leliana here for example can be asked about the "spy that betrayed them" and maybe nudge her into one way or the other heh. There is also a lot of interesting ambient dialogue (ppl talking with each other) that you can catch while walking around in Haven and such :D There are a lot of npc's you can talk with too and have some interesting things to say :) As for mages and staffs, as i understand it, of course they can innately cast spells but the staff allows to channel the mana better, and it is less tiring. At least that is how i see it since it is never really explained in canon, but to me that makes the most sense :)

Alright! Dragon Age inquisition is a fun game and it’s HUGE! So this will be the point (in the later part of the game) where I’ll be sharing in the surprises with you as I still haven’t finished it. 😅. So I’m looking forward to that. Edit: also a fair warning! If you mess with mods mod game it could corrupt your save and be lost forever. That happened to me when I started a new game recently.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is fantastic... Its story is arguably better than Origins which is a huge statement but one I can stand behind. Till the very end, the further you go, the better the story and characters get. And the game has some *super* dark moments, as well as some very beautiful ones.

Your rough start with Cullen ist so cute. He has his problems with mages, we know that since Origins. But it would be so sweet to see if both of you can overcome it and actually romance.

Oh also, i've done the same thing you did upon entering the temple of sacred ashes on my very first tun. I jumped straight down towatd the breach. That way I also missed Varric's dialouge on the way down. He mentions the presence of red lyrium, around the area of the breach. I don't know if you noticed it around the area when fighting the pride demon.

Shen, don't be afraid to explore. In DAI, just because it looks like a dead end path doesn't mean it actually is. Also, you should be scanning more. Scanning will help you to identify nearby resources without needing to run to every corner. As for romance, only Leliana and Varic are off limits. 2:13:11 You don't remember, but you were told this by the chanters in DAO. Remember the two sisters outside the Chantry in Denerim? A younger sister was chastising the older one because she was messing up the chant of light, replacing some of the words with food, because she was hungry? She mentioned the canticle of Shartan. Shartan was one of Andraste's generals and a dalish elf. It was removed from the offical chant of light after the invasion of the dales, when the chantry went to war with the dalish because they rebuked the chantry over converting to Antrastian. They wanted to preserve their worship of their own gods, things turned violent and the chantry marched on the elven dales and drove the elves out. That is why there are Dalish and City elves. Elves taken prisoner, or who submitted to the chantry, were put into the alienages. The elves who rebuked the chantry and escaped into the wilds became the nomadic dalish clans.

"F* ck the Chantry!" Amen. :) That said all the Chantry-affiliated people on the Inquisition's side in this game are quite interesting and nuanced, even if I might not agree with all of them, all of the time. So happy to see you started DAI that I put my Veilguard game on hold for a bit to watch. And glad to hear you're reading Asunder and will hit Masked Empire. They're my two favorite DA novels and I've reread them several times, but it might be time for a re-read soon, between watching you in this one and playing through Veilguard.

The fact you (rather accidentally thanks to the green lighting all of us suffered) nailed the red hair of Andraste! You are blessed by Dragon Age. I have been waiting for this for so long. Also love how you leave the Keep in the vid too. Awesome!

Shan, answering your question: magic in Dragon age is natural to the individual - one is born a mage, or not. The staff serves as a channeling device, you could say. It helps concentrate energy for bigger spells, and of course, also into the basic attacks we usualy use most of the time! But a mage could cast spells without it too. 🥰

I got tears in my eyes and goosebumps hearing the intro music crescendo. Never fails to amaze me. The soundtrack in Inquisition is a true masterpiece.

30:12 I think the narrative that Meredith has gone mad just because of the lyrium really cheapens her character, like she was bad enough but at the same time complex enough to be the main villain on her own without any influence at all.

Good to see you back! During the pandemic, DAI was one of my comfort games. I completed multiple playthroughs, and played it for almost 500 hours! lol Enjoy the game!

Loved your intro so was gonna sub right away, and then you instantly liked solas, which is a BIG 2nd reason to sub for sure. He is my favourite fictional character and i hope you grow to love him too ❤ i also love this game and just finished veilguard so im watching others play now 😊

Thanks for continuing the series! Inquisition was my favorite (though Veilguard might supplant it, I love it that much). It’s a deep, rich game but also very, very large. So don’t worry about missing things, it’s perfectly fine and nobody should judge that.

Welcome back! 49:39 Not a spoiler, but Iron Bull is going to love her. And if there is a character in this game who will make you say " Fenris, who?' I'm betting it's him. Also, just wanted to share a couple observations from a DAI veteran. As long as you leave at least 1 item in a container, that container will remain active throughout your entire playthrough. Some containers will have the same item(s) forever, but most will have new items each time you visit that area. But if you take all items that container becomes inactive. Believe it or not a companion clued me into this tactic. Once you get past the prologue, party banter will resume just like the first two games, but with a notable exception. Origins had banter 'trigger' points in every map location. DAII had this as well, except for Kirkwall's night maps. Inquisition does not have these triggers. Instead, party banter is on a 15-minute timer. Supposedly there are mods, but as I play on console, I can't use mods.

Solas is egg head yes. 😂 Shame you jumped down to get to the large rift, you missed some dialog and a tiny bit of the story by not going to it via the path. This is what I meant by not rushing in my first comment. I know its tempting but you will miss things.

Hey Shan! I’m sooo happy you’re beginning this journey now! Just having finished Veilguard, it will be a pleasure to revisit Inquisition through your eyes and also secretly go “ha!” every now and then when I find some hints alluding to stuff happening in Veilguard. I’ll be writing this while watching the video, so apologies in advance for my very long ramblings (and any bad English, sorry, it’s not my first language). I’ll of course keep this spoiler free. Your reaction to the title music was exactly like mine! Trevor Morris did an amazing job for Inquisition, and especially the music for a specific DLC (sorry, spoilers, have to be vague) has haunted the fandom for the entire 10 year wait up till Veilguard. While DA:O and DA2 both have somewhat unremarkable soundtracks (in my opinion), Inquisition has some really big bangers out there that I can’t wait for you to hear. Your choice of Bhelen as king is also the choice I’ve made ever since my first playthrough. Yes, he’s less likable and has done some super shady stuff, especially when you know the noble dwarven origin, but in the long run he’s actually the better political choice for Orzammar. Something Zevran probably already saw coming. I think why people are so upset about Alistair not ending up on the throne might also have some spoilery reasons (look at me keeping up my poker face!). On my first playthrough I also gave the throne purely to Anora, so you’re not alone in this! My boy said he didn’t want it, so of course he didn’t have to (couldn’t resist his puppy eyes, even though I’m a Zevran romancer). Cullen’s still got some journey and character building ahead of him… I’m interested to see if/how your opinion of him will change. The fight with the Arishok was such a fun thing for me… playing as a mage, I basically just ran away 90% of the time and waited for my spells to reload. Having it afterwards always being described as “heroic” or “romantic” always makes me thank Varric, who I’m sure spread some rumours of how it all went down and painted it in a way better light than it normally would have deserved. Your realisation when you recognised the starting screen was such a joy! Immediately followed by the surprised Pikachu face when the Chantry explodes… Yeah, we’ve all been there XD Yay for picking elf! As a female elf, you do have the most romance options to choose from, so it’s a good choice for a first playthrough, when you don’t have a plan yet who you wish to romance. Unfortunately, you’ll be locked out of my favourite romance ever, since they’re male only, but I’m sure the two of you will still end up being besties! I love your immediate hatred for the horn/hair situation for the Qunari! The hair in Inquisition is… very special. Luckily your wish for long, flowing hair will come very true for Veilguard! Me watching you talk about your Vallaslin choices like “Mhm, yes. Interesting. Continue.” O.O (Love your little backstory! Choosing Falon’Din after the loss of a twin makes much sense, not only because he’s the god of death, but also because he’s got a twin brother called Dirthamen, god of secrets and knowledge. Just in case you didn’t know.) “Masked Empire” is the book title you’re looking for. After you’ve finished Inquisition, I can highly recommend reading “Tevinter Nights”, a collection of short stories that introduces lots of characters from Veilguard (both main companions and NPCs) and in general gives you more insight into the themes that will be relevant in Veilguard. But seriously, finish Inquisition + its DLCs first (major spoilers). Love your cosplay and Nan’s looks! She’s absolutely stunning <3 And yes, “15 choices of bald” perfectly summarises Inquisition’s hairstyles XD Sorry about the spiders… they’re special Fade spiders, so they’re extra nasty… As a general warning: whenever there comes a section in the game when you enter the Fade: beware, there will be spiders. If I remember correctly, there won’t be any spiders outside of the Fade, so you’ll be safe there. (But there will be bears T.T) The dialogue wheel in Inquisition is a bit different to DA2, and not necessarily my favourite. All in all the Inquisitor feels to me a bit like the most rigid character in the dragon age series whose personality you can change the least (unlike the differences between the purple/sarcastic, blue/friendly and red/stoic options for Hawke). It is indeed Leliana and the same voice actress as in DA:O. Purple eyes on Nan O.O Oooh, I wonder if this is a first hint of who you’re going to romance? O.O I’d never judge you for getting jump-scared, I’ve screamed my cat off my lap many times XD Hahaha, your reaction to meeting Solas and his cleft chin… I called it earlier with the purple eyes! Romance locked in, I guess? XD (You wouldn’t regret it, I swear… He’s a solid choice.) And yes, he is commonly known as the egg! His voice actor, Gareth David-Lloyd is extremely good at voicing him, easily one of the best if not the best performer over all the games. I love how every dragon age game we’re all like “But I can romance Varric now, yes? Pretty please?” XD If I recall correctly, Varric got interrogated by Cassandra in 9:40 Dragon, which is also when Inquisition starts. So I suppose it’s not too far apart. Yay, you recognised Cullen! He got a lot of cosmetic changes for this game, and I’m equally as sad to see his ramen noodle hair gone… but once again, hair isn’t exactly Inquisition’s strength XD Yes, the Temple of Sacred Ashes is the same place as in DA:O. No comment on who the woman in thee Fade was, you’re going to find out eventually ;) “Nightingale of the Imperial Court” is the title you were looking for for Leliana. Also “Left Hand of the Divine”. And you’re absolutely right! With Divine Justinia dead, Leliana just lost someone very close and dear to her. As a Dalish elf Nan would very likely follow the elven pantheon and not the Andrastian faith, your reasoning there about not liking being called “Herald of Andraste” is very sound. Josephine is a sweety, I’m glad you like her :) The Leliana in Inquisition is automatically in the “hardened” state at the beginning which makes her seem a bit out of character if you had her softened state during DA:O. Your choices during Inquisition might influence this… I fell in love with Cassandra at the very first “disgusted noise” XD She excels at those… And she’s absolutely awesome! Ha, your visual struggle to flirt with Cullen… I get where you’re coming from, especially with the end credit sort of red-conned info from DA:O. But I’m glad you’re giving the man a chance. Can’t wait for you to find out more about him! (And all the other companions, too, of course) Thank you for this amazing start into Inquisition and thank you for sharing it. I’m more than happy to ride along!

Anders was my friend since Awakening, but he used me, I play as goody too shoes Hawk who helps everyone, but he tricked me I thought I was helping him but he made me an accomplice. So I executed him sadly, the Anders I knew was already dead a long time ago after he fused with Justice and becoming Vengeance. I lost two friends. Some don’t like Sebastian, but I appreciated his company and he hasn’t betrayed me. Also in short stories Anders is described as being demonic drinking blood 🩸 and describing it as tasting like honeyed wine 🍯 🍷. I had to put him down.
