Louis, Cofounder of LAVA here: 0. This channel Guitarstreet is LiberLive’s affiliate, the channel makes money when people purchase LiberLive from their links. 1. Acoustic guitar: GENIE has the more natural audio samples. It’s clearer when you plug it in. Especially if you play strumming patterns, it sounds a lot more natural on stage if you perform to audience, unlike the extra bass boosted audio samples on LiberLive. 2. Very surprised that we didn’t hear more of the electric guitar, synths, pianos, vintage keyboards, and so many more sounds from the LAVA GENIE in your video. Considering this is one of the major highlights, I’m very surprised that you’re not demoing them. 3. Very surprised that you are not showing the usage of those five pads of the GENIE. Considering it’s more versatile to freely create and play your own patterns. 4. I can see that you’re trying to downplay us by saying our price is lower, therefore if you’re looking for a better product choose the other. In fact the reason that LiberLive’s price needs to be higher is because their maintenance is costy, the hardware design, the paddles, and the physical wheels are easy to damage, all of these inefficient design added to your cost. 5. LAVA can price it more expensive and still more people will buy it easily because of the higher quality audio samples, 100 times more instrument presets, built quality, design, and the brand.

Hi Louis, thanks for your comments. 0. Yes, I always try to get affiliate links for the products I review. It's how I can justify the time taken to experience the products, review them, film, edit and publish the video. If I can make good videos, viewers can purchase the products via my links to support the channel. I always try to give my honest opinion, and the viewers are open to make their choice too. I believe we have represented both products fairly here. 1. At our recent workshop, we played the LiberLive and Lava Genie both on stage. We did a poll and 90% of the audience preferred the LiberLive. Can you accept that? My opinion is that for LAVA Genie, the acoustic sounds are still not good enough. And as a play and sing instrument, you really need to get that right. But I note your insight, and I've shared that with many other people. 2. We will do better demo-ing them in the future. But I probably won't do many more Lava Genie videos regrettably, as you've gotten my affiliate link revoked for speaking my truth. 3. We did mention this. Here it is again: The Lava Genie has 5 pads, so you can play 5 different patterns on a song. The LiberLive C1 only has 2 strumming paddles, so you can only play 2 different patterns on a song. 4. No we're not... There is no conspiracy theory. We are just curious musicians who are inspired by these smart guitars, hence we are doing these videos to share our experience with like-minded folks. And your opinion of an "inefficient design" is actually their best feature in my opinion. The strumming paddles on the LiberLive make the user feel much more involved in playing the instrument, as opposed to just tapping on a rubber pad on the Lava Genie. 5. LAVA does have the bigger brand, and your products and user experience are very impressive. However, your negativity and bullying are not. If you're gonna hang around on my channel, I encourage you to be more open, friendly and inclusive. Of course, you're free to do whatever you want, and we remain grateful for your work in creating products for musicians like myself. Thanks Louis.

@@guitarstreet 0. That's why I think your intension is not pure, I think you should make a statement about that at the beginning of the video, people can then judge by themselves. 1. You should plug it in and ask the audience here. Otherwise you can say whatever you want, I myself is a guitarist, if the sound is not natural I wouldn't approve it. 2. The main highlight of the GENIE is it has lots of cool instrument presets and it's gonna be over 1000 in May, the fact that you choose not to show them in a comparison video made me realize this is not gonna be a fair comparison. 3. That's another big part to us, to compare these two products, you should highlight and showcase the unique features of both. Many of our highlighted features are chosen not to be showcased in the video. 4. TapPad responses more quickly than paddles, especially if you play quick tempo songs, or use an electric guitar preset, or play the chords manually, you simply couldn't to that with paddles. And paddles have a maintenance issue as well, after using it for a while, the internal lubricant will dry out, the company will need to either replace for the customers or help add more lubricant. These all add up to the cost. 5. I don't think that's bullying at all, I doubt some of the things you said and the intension on how this comparison was arranged. To pretend nice but act without integrity is not my value.

@ Hi Karyn, I think you did a good job on letting the viewers know there are lots of different drum patterns and sounds inside the genie, and they're all paired up with the right main instruments and the right genre. Seeing our core features not being shown in a comparison video, and a somewhat misleading sound comparison, I have to step up and let the viewers know what's actually going on, otherwise it's gonna be a one-sided promotion.

D18 sounds great with any of the tested options! As for the differences, well I feel the most notable difference in tone was between the Plastic (OEM) and the Bone pins. With the "liquid metal" pins allowing more mids to shine through more clearly. While, to me, this is only a minor change. Personally, I would lean toward the bone pins at 1/6th the price. $230 USD for a set of bridge pins seems the most dramatic part of the comparison. I'd rather outfit all my guitars with Bone pins than only one with Luxe pins. I would think, IF the sound were so dramatic, that Martin would make them standard on all models. It's not we want plastic on our $3000 investment in our craft. This seems more about margin than it is about tone, IMHO. Thanks for taking the time for us to hear these options, even more thanks for allowing US to form our own opinions! great work!

A question if you have a moment please. When you turn it on do you have a slight hiss ( Even with nothing connected to the imputs) ? Mine arrived today and I thought it would be silent. When I plug it into the mains a slight hum is also introduced. It’s not awful by any means but if I chose to mic it up then it could be distracting to the listeners. Many thanks of you reply appreciated.

The Lava Genie is amazing, the range of songs and the intuitive prompts to play are fantastic. Worth every penny.

I planned on getting this guitar after seeing one at CES 2025. Your video is one of the best ones I have seen about the guitar. Great job!

Thanks for the video. After using it more now, how would you compare it with LibreLive? I ve never played guitar and want to choose between LiberLive and Lava Genie. Which one would you suggest?
