Damn, the littlest things cause the biggest problems eh? GG Brotha!!!
Congratulations brother you totally deserve it!!
Do you ever use a roller?
100% especially on anything that has peel and stick base i feel needs an extra roll anyways... Then i usually use my trowel for the bottom bleedout
@thetrahanman sweet dude! I'm based out of Vernon maybe I've see n ya around roof centre before
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Looks a good job. I have been doing it like that for 39 years although always taught to cross lay the layers for strength as the polyester carrier runs longways through the roll. Not criticising just an observation.
Are you a lap with the fall or against the fall kinda guy?
This is the best way to do torch not the scab way by walking on your cap sheet or your field sheet while torching. This is way better than displacement, this is what you will learn in the Union. This is not what you learn from a non-union shop. Which is what we call a SCAB roofer….. Go United Brothers of Roofers & Waterproofers Local 54 Seattle WA.
What is the material he melts and smooths on the end of each roll?
isn't it the base for peel and stick ?
So you guys chip off all the gravel from BUR roof and moap the base on old felt? Are you guys working in bc?
put the pressure on the green horns lol, love it.
it's great roofing with a good bunch of guys.
i would only try and get cap on as little of the metal as possible. bringing it up the sides on the outside like that will create potential leak areas in the future. stop the cap right before the downspout and leave the rest as metal. the rest you did perfect.the MS detail will help but it may be hard to get it all over it properly and technically you would still need to drap jute over the rim of the metal because you brought the cap up to match the shape of the metal on the outside. , which you wouldnt do because it would look bad. im also surprised you heat it up before sticking it in, ive never seen that but whatever works, those scupper are a bitch to do. I think dry laying it would still work too. Just lay it in and try and torch one side at a time. JUst need to lift it and blast on one side then stick your hand in and press itdown hard to one side and in the 90s(primed metal of course). then once it cools a bit lift other side and blast it, if you dont run your cap as far it will be easier too. but good work overall you seem good at your job.
i saw the iko hoodie but is that soprema or Iko cap? i've never tried the sponge, i gotta try it though it seems like a good idea. I see lots of guys just use the puller but i sometimes use a rubber roller to push out bleeds and it seems to work pretty good too. great job though looks pretty good.
Soprema 250 on a Sopralene 180
He even has the Proper self made torch stand with a bolt, a chain link and 2 pieces of aluminum bent just right. I use to make these for all of my Roofer buddies and I would sell them for $10 each. They would last a lot longer than the flimsy pieces of thin brass stands. I also made torch Canes, very easy to make.
@@kreftingr yea i need to make a stand for my long wand too
i bet it's stuck but are you sure you are applying enough heat throughout the enire roll and not just the lap? seems a little quick. try preheating the lap a few feet behind you as well it may give a slightly more pronounced bleed out.
ummmmm....yeah.....

Got a flat roof job? I'm a good specialist
Do you use the same method for much taller walls?
Thars what you get tag Williams you f### got me😂
Так это легкотня так рубить.
Крыша не потекла хоть?
What product are you using?
كم سعر وكيف يتم عملكم تاخذون قطعيه ام لااشقال حسب المتر كم سعره هوه والعمل ان امكن
Could you show how to clean your torch when youre having blockages? It would be greatly appreciated
Она у тебя засорилась в отверстии, где сопло. Открути сопло и проволокой прочисти мусор возле отверстия. И в этот момент нажми на рычаг , чтобы газ выдавил мусор.
This week my first job in flat roofing in Calgary, thanks for sharing such a good video.
Best of luck!
Capsheet should be laid over the underlay as a 50/50 split to protect the underlay lap
This doesnt make sense to me. Definitely refer to the manufacturer specifications before you apply any product!
Great job! Did you do the side overlaps the same way? Also is the blackening of end and side laps recommended for APP as well? Thanks
Side laps are already black... The end laps need to have granules embedded to ensure a strong bond. Thanks for watching!
What payed this time of job. In Canada , Hurd job low payed
No way, roofers make between $30-$50/hour here in BC, Canada... I think thats pretty good money 💰
No roll bar used in application, roll bar helps to maintain equal pressure across the roll to allow spread of bitumen
Ive never seen a roll bar but i really like the sounds of it!
I am from South Africa I do the very same work. Have never seen these type of Torch on and nor have a seen work as great and neat as this🫡🔥🙌🏾👌🏾
Hi where do you guys buy the hook pole? we cant buy them in uk
They sell them at our roofing supplier... Try online... Primegrip makes one maybe they can ship to you
Good job
Thanks 😊
What do you do for the top of the scupper?
That should have some sort of membrane wrapped around the whole thing before the scupper.
You’re a genius!!!
Thank you good sir! ❤️😁
Are you just torching it down on the deck? Why no build-up?
No sir, a base membrane is mechanically fastened on the laps and perimeter, laps are torch sealed and then the cap sheet gets fully torched to the base membrane
@@thetrahanman Thank you for taking the time to deliver this explanation. Perhaps you can do a video on this measure.
Not at all your all divs your supposed to put each layer other way 1 vertical next one horizontal not the same way bad roofing sorry so simple
Sorry this doesnt make sense to me. This is installed EXACTLY to manufacturer specifications. Maybe you are used to using another product, or maybe your just doing it wrong?
Why don't you use a 20lb. seam roller instead of the wood?
I see guys use rollers, the wood block i think is just faster and covers more ground... Doesnt leave roller marks on the cap. Its a great tool let me tell ya!
Good torching. Must be no wind in Canada 😂😂. I invite you till Ireland and try getting a good bleed
We have windy days here too and man alive what stress that causes on application... I feel ya 100%
Good job but no need for the wet trowel a regular 6 inch rounded trowel is just as good
True, i use trowel sometimes, the wood block makes it easier to get a nice bleedout everywhere and to not mark the cap. Inspectors really like it too because you can push your lap with more area and pressure than you could with a trowel
Где вытек?
No leaks!
I don't get how these would be grippy on a roof try out prime grip knee pads roofers recommended
Im a flat roofer so wouldn't really be able to comment on grippiness... I know my friend does metal roofing and uses these and he loves them
Nice ❤
Thanks 🔥
Qué pasó con el Primer al final de la soldadura😂
Primer? Manufacturer says to embed granules
Nice work! What was under this just the deck? Are your plates screwed off every foot roughly? And what are you putting on top? Sbs cap? Glued? Like cold apply or using heat?
You are correct. We fully torch cap sheet ontop of base membrane
Need to put another material under this Sbs or you just can put on top of old let say ice and water shield
In insulated roof systems yes. On this system the insulation is under the roof deck so our base membrane gets fastened directly to the deck
Daisy chain works great as long as everyone knows the knot
If you have a roll of black electrical tape you can wrap that around the bundle 8 to 10 times. Thus will keep everything tight while you drive around in your service truck. As a bonus it will make your hands sticky enough that you will never drop a tool a a screw.
I like to girth hitch a piece of tie line to one end of the cable. It stays in place permanently and makes tying coils up simple.
Better to start the wraps from the center fold though innit. That way you can work out any excess twist in each half as you wrap. Leave enough at the end and you can still wrap it to create a hang loop.
А лучше вообще так не сматывать, провод перекручивается.
