    Before you go purchasing a new cartridge try to clean and lubricate the old one. Take out the cartridge as he shows. On the side opposite from the metal shaft there are two plastic tabs that are holding the back plate on. You can see where they latch on the sides. Gently push in and up on the tabs through the slots in the side to dislodge them. Be careful to get this apart do that you know how it goes back together. You must orient the plates correctly to have it work again. Remove the plastic back plate noting the orientation. It has three tabs around the outside where it goes into the housing. Then remove the top ceramic plate. Be careful. The ceramic is brittle and a small chip or scratch will cause leaks. Then remove the bottom ceramic plate carefully. Note how this is oriented. There are three small nibs that stick out to orient it to the back plate. Then clean the ceramic plates with alcohol and remove any debris. Many times small bits of sand or debris can get in the plates and cause leaks. Get it all cleaned out and stack the plates back into the housing in the proper orientations and snap the plastic back plate in place. You can also use silicone grease to lubricate the handle where the metal roll pins touch the housing in the slots. Reassemble and see how it works. Hopefully you again have a working faucet without having to spend $25 to replace a perfectly good cartridge.

    Thanks for sharing this. I just had to do this on a Scion tc after replacing the water pump (which includes removing the alternator, thus disconnecting battery during the job). After starting the vehicle, it started idling correctly. I then turned on AC. Idle dropped then recovered after several seconds. I repeated this with car in neutral (AC on, AC off) and in Drive (AC on/off). I had to repeat these steps a couple times to establish proper idle RPM. So if you're doing it, after establishing proper idle as shown above, continue the process with AC on/off.

    Great video but I would definitely recommend changing the oil immediately after filling the cylinders. Remember, your oil control rings do well to seal the cylinders up, but theyre not a perfect seal. That thin cleaner will leak past the rings into the oil pan and thin out/contaminate your oil. Changing before start up will prevent that oil from ciculating around the engine

    On a Lexus gs300 is it better to use full synthetic or is it fine to use without synthetic???

    • @DIYLifeSkills
      @DIYLifeSkills 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If you are going to do 10K miles oil change, then definitely you need to use full synthetic. However 10K mile oil change slowly leads to carbon build up around piston rings and eventually end up burning oil. Therefore, I recommend that doing 5K mile oil change. At 5K mile change, it's important to keep to the 5K mile oil change more than whether it's full synthetic or now. It turns out both Costco and Walmart brand full-synthetic oil is cheaper, so I would use those. That's what I started to do now.

    Best practice is to remove one wire at a time and put it in the new connector body in the same place. I had to do this with an ECM connector in my IS F when the connector lock broke while performing regular maintenance. There were more than 40 wires in that connector. There would have been no reasonable hope of removing them all and then putting them in the right place in the new connector without making a mistake. All my Toyota/Lexus vehicles are old now and replacing connectors has become a "normal" thing. I have a similar video on my channel with the details of the dimensions to make a pin extraction tool per Toyota's instructions. Small screwdrivers might be OK, but once you make the pin tool, you'll never go back.

    GS350 engines have a different system than the Euro Direct injections which suffer bad carbon buildup. So while it may happen it is not very prevalent. " It not common on the 2GR-FSE. Lexus added port injection on the 2GR-FSE. It has the best of both worlds. Direct Injection into the cylinder and Port injection in the intake stream. That will wash off the carbon buildup on the back side of the valve. The 3GR-FSE and the 4GR-FSE only have direct injection".
