*Could watch this a trillion times ....* *What a wonderful job by Robert O'Reilly here:* *he goes ALL IN: voice, gestures, body language, etc., etc.* *K'PLAH!!* #LLAP 🖖🏻❤️
Is that Don LaFontaine? All I know is I loved this voice all over every local Fox station commercial.
NBC Movie of the Week...?
I don't have this unaired pilot on my DVD complete series
Terrible having bad blood like that . I’m surprised that film survived all these decades . That film was made in the 60s sometime . Celluloid . Fragile as hell . Worse than vinal . Anyway , the first sentence I wrote here . In Star Trek there was an emphasis on social commentary . In this case RACISM . And Spock being portrayed as half human , while volcan society rejected mix breads . Personally , I had hoped by now we had gotten past even labeling people as some how less than human mixing with another race . That theme comes up a few times in the franchise .
They were all so young!
Spock's line at ~ 2:00 in -- "The fact one of my ancestors married a human female . . ." -- suggests that he was admitting, in a roundabout way, that he himself was half-human due to his mother Amanda being that very human female who had been there (so to speak) when his father Sarek had to have been going through 'pon farr', and not merely partly 'tainted' with such "bad blood" through a distant race-mixing. Yet, given what we -- and Kirk, McCoy, etc. -- eventually learned in "Journey to Babel," that Spock was, indeed half-human, this line suggests that Spock wasn't being fully outright with the truth of his mixed parentage. Kirk, as the (new) captain of the Enterprise, must surely have had certain records regarding the background of his officers and crew, yet he didn't know that Spock had a human mother until Spock admitted to this in "Journey to Babel" (stardate 3842.3). Spock went through his own 'pon farr' in "Amok Time" (stardate 3372.7), 469.6 stardate units earlier -- i.e. about 171.5 days earlier, if 1,000 stardate units equals one Earth year, when Kirk learned about the 'pon farr' phenomenon. Vulcans might not make a habit of lying, but Spock, it seems, being half-human, and seemingly ashamed of his emotional side, seems to be 'fluid' with the truth regarding his own conflicted nature -- at least until the situations in "Amok Time" and "Journey to Babel" expose his true duality of Vulcan-and-Human parentage. This earliest glimpse of him -- disregarding the events from 11+ years before ("The Cage") -- depicts him attempting to blithely shoo away the concept of Kirk's "Earth emotions" -- the "irritation" Kirk alludes to. I've long thought that Spock's seemingly more 'emotive' personality depicted in the events of "The Cage" -- his smiling at the 'singing flowers' on Talos IV, as well as his exclamation: "The WOMEN!!!" after they'd been selectively beamed down to provide Captain Pike with other females to choose from -- was the result of him attempting to PRETEND to be as 'emotional' as the rest of the crew of the Enterprise, so as not to be a cause of disruption. He might well have learned, in his formative years, that humans tend to be bothered by -- even creeped out by -- totally emotionless people, and as he wanted to pursue a career in Starfleet, he didn't want to be singled out by his fellow crewmembers as being the 'creepy' guy who never smiled, never laughed at a joke, never seemed friendly, etc. And so, after spending years suppressing his emotions, when it came to 'fitting in' on the human crew of the Enterprise under Pike's command, Spock made the 'logical' decision to MIMIC human emotional traits, just so that there would be less friction between himself and the rest of the crew. Yet he, being half-human, actually DID have emotions -- which he'd become adept at suppressing -- and it must have been a challenge to ACTUALLY suppress them all-the-while PRETENDING to overtly have them during the Pike years. But then Kirk becomes his C.O., and in this first scene of them together, when Kirk does what probably no other human could've done -- checkmate him at 3D chess -- Spock is still able to 'pretend' to smile ("Ah, one of your Earth emotions") in a genial way all-the-while presenting himself as a supposedly non-emotional creature of pure logic. But Kirk's having none of that. And it makes me wonder: Might not Kirk have already known that Spock was the son of the Vulcan male Sarek and the Earth-woman Amanda -- before this was revealed to him *and McCoy) when Ambassador Sarek and his wife arrived at the Enterprise in "Journey to Babel"? Was Kirk PRETENDING that it was news to him that Spock was the Ambassador's son, with a HUMAN mother? Is it likely that Starfleet would not have had the personal records of a Starfleet First Officer available for a ship's Captain to know? Perhaps Spock believed -- wrongly -- that his personal backstory was not completely known to Starfleet (and, hence, to Kirk), and that Kirk didn't and COULDN'T know that he was a half-breed . . . not knowing that Kirk actually DID know it, even before they all began the 5-Year Mission.
Note that the transporter control pedestal is actually the bridge helm and navigation control console.
I noticed Kirk is the rank of commander, Spock and scotty, at the rank of Lieutenant
This is an undiscovered gem.
well this ones new to me
Now television is run run run, shoot shoot shoot, punch punch punch. Zero creativity.
0:26 Dalimi: Sunny, My Pebbles!
Notice the human chauvinism, how in Sci-Fi literature and movie how the Earth humans always had to better or out-smart the aliens. That interaction with Kirk and Spock in the chess game was classic.
Shows how much work they had to go through to get this show on the air! I loved Star Trek as a kid when it came out.
Television, cable, Netflix, whatever..... will never even come close to the writing and vision of this great program.
I own it. Its awesome.
Note the different intro. The one we know has a clear sense of adventure, of building excitement. This one has a very different feel. The eerie music. The enormous shot of the stars and the tiny tiny ship. The slightest hint of worry in Kirk's voice. Space is scary. We don't know what's out there. It could be literally anything...
Is this as corny as I think it is? Why yes...
Where can I see the rest of this?
I ALWAYS wanted that Chess Set.
This is so cool.
It was aired/ broadcast in Brazil in the sixties and seventies among the normal episodes.
How have I NEVER heard of this until now????? Qu'vatlh!!!
Stone Trek
What's wrong with this video? Looks like the codec messed it up.

The reason why I name-called Katie Fitzense a nut is that she had no idea of just how much I freaked out when I first saw the appearance of the Batman TV series on KTVU channel 2. This character is really scary looking, thus making people feel nervous. It's just that no one wants the truth. It's so easy to impersonate Batman just by wearing the same mask he wears. They even sound like him, even repeat merely everything he says. What kind of influence has he gained on the real world? I wish the psychiatrist, Dr. Eric Bender would be hard-headed on this character. I'm someone who used to impersonate Batman back in April 1990. I really freaked out the daycare center students who were mainly little girls. This was at the Louden Nelson Community Center in Santa Cruz, CA. 😳
Why am I not a "Star Trek" fan? Why am I a "Welcome Back Kotter" and original "Dragnet" fan? I didn't just fantasize about Ron Pallilo making the confession to Jack Webb. "You know very well that I've done wrong in my early life when I was in high school. If I were 14 years old, again: I'm supposed to do things differently. Never make the same old dull, bland, and predictable mistakes I've made. You're right that I made a terrible mistake." Jack Webb didn't make this response." "At least you admit your guilt of being someone who's really dumb. So what if other high school students who are of your age tricked you into doing something unthinkable? You simply refuse to be joining along with them. Start showing forth resistance." The reason why we had these high school students who pressure certain high school students who are achievers {honor society students} is that: it's their way of gaining a strong sense of identity.
It's very rare that we ever get to see Leonard Nimoy as the "In Search of" host. I was thinking of when he told us that Harry Houdini didn't die in one of his tricks. He was punched in the stomach by an unknown assailant, totally unaware of his presence. There was a museum of the traps Houdini escaped from. Harry Houdini really cared for his mother. Leonard Nimoy also told us about the Vietnam War veterans: who had to be brought back home from the war individually instead of brought back home together like the way our WW2 veterans were. ❤️ 🤲 🏡 🏠 🤔 😕
Typical/Standard George Takei, thinking Star Trek is all about Sulu, when in reality, it's just a bit part.
Nice try This did air. This is episode 1 of the first series.
Admiral Kirk from Wrath of Kahn LOL
… And Geritol, the official tonic of Starfleet!
I would give almost anything to go back to this time period in my life and live it all again. Star Trek TNG was happening, the TOS movies were happening, I was a kid and both my older brothers were still living at home. Our parents and younger sister were young and vibrant and none of us had any inkling of the health issues in our futures.
Geritol? It seems Star Trek had the same audience demographic as The Lawrence Welk Show.
Geritol is what Kirk so vigorous for his time with Princess Mirimani!
3:30 how teachers expect us to exit the burning building when the fire alarm goes off
we never have enough memes here
*Kirk* - _"We'll transmit the data to Spock's computer. Mine has less than _*_one_*_ _*_meg_*_ left due to my porn collection of Green Women."_
Is this a true story ?
Just got into star trek today. The original series season 1 episode 3 to watch now.

Nice
thanks to DesiLu for allowing then show to go forward. Can you imagine no Star Trek? I watch Mirror Mirror last night on dailymotion.
I would have liked to have seen this version of Star Trek. Could have played out as an alternative universe series
Question, what would we see if we could turn the lights on in space?...UK
I love this alternate version. Hey there goes Gary Lockwood from 2001 fame .
