The Tacoma Upgraded to a Roof Top Tent!
After an iffy trip in the Napier a couple weeks ago, I decided we would need to upgrade to an RTT for our trip across the US in June. After some research I decided on a RedRock bed rack and a Rough Country RTT for my truck. I'm pretty stoked with how it turned out!

Living in my Truck for a Week Gone WRONG: Tent broke
มุมมอง 7632 ปีที่แล้ว
This was supposed to be a week of adventure that turned into a weather let down. The Southeast was hit by some pretty bad storms over the week and it effected our plans for the week. This is just a video explaining and updating what is going on with the video that was planned. Nonetheless, we will shake it off and keep on truckin'!

มุมมอง 1.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Well, this trip started off terrible when I crashed my drone on its debut voyage, but I powered through and had a great time! I attempted to start a fire with a ferro rod for the first time and we slept in just the truck bed for the first time. I hope you enjoy! 1,000 SUBSCRIBER GIVEAWAY- I will be doing a 1000 sub giveaway when the time comes on my Instagram below! I know not everyone has an a...

Valentines Winter Truck Camping in the Mountains: It started snowing
มุมมอง 6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Took my wife on a Valentines Day trip to the mountains. Cooked her a skillet steak meal with chocolate covered strawberries. The weather went from sunny and warm one day, to snowing the next. I hope you enjoy the adventure!
Winter Tent Camping in Sub Freezing Temperatures: It Was Muddy
มุมมอง 3.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In today's video I introduce my wife Cayla to the truck tent. It is cold and it is muddy. I am taking her on a camping trip for Valentines Day and I wanted to give her a simple warm-up. She also has the opportunity for revenge after claims that I made fun of her cooking in my first video.

First solo truck tent camp! IN A SNOWSTORM
มุมมอง 142K2 ปีที่แล้ว
New Instagram- trucktenttacoma?r=nametag Thanks for stopping by! This is my first camping trip and it happened during a snow storm. I would have liked to stay out longer but needed to get home to wife wife in case there was a power outage. I hope you enjoy and there will be more to come! Leave any ideas or things you’d like to see in the comments! My short bed tent- Napier Backroa...
I'm a civil war reenactor. I've been using a floorless tent for years. I just bought a nice truckbed tent but haven't even opened it yet. I have to fabricate a mounting adapter set first, but looking forward to using it. Great video for a first time out !! Wish you could have stayed longer, but being from up here in a more northern state, I get it.
Thanks for this video
Details on the bed rack please
It took me all together about 30 minutes. And I have to watch a couple videos to know how!!!
If you wouldn't have done that first video where you at camping in the snow I did never known anything about Naper truck tents!!!!
I found my Napier backroadz camo truck tent on eBay hundred dollars!!! Yeppie!!! And I got everything else to go camping on eBay!!! 0 degree queen-size sleeping bag!!! Full -size fited air mattress, 2 - 12 volt extension cord. 12-volt electric blanket, now I just need to go camping.
I have the same tent except I have an F-150. I use 2 mattresses out of a fold away couch, they fit perfect between the wheel wells and are as comfortable as your bed would be. Of course, in the summer, I use an OFF mosquito lantern. Perfect amount of light at night.
Nice video. Where is this camp site located at?
Just came across your video. I subbed the channel. Question, it looks like you drove with the tent still attached to the truck? Was it, or did you take it down? I just got the same tent for Christmas and don't think I would leave it attached while driving.
I was listening at the point of “My MRE is Fettuccine “ and looked at my wife and said he’ll never do that again! Glad it was Not menu 14🤢 good times man I camp in my 16 F150 and I’ve fish. Planning this years trip now
I only bring the air mattress when I'm with my girl. A Colman cott fits perfectly. You'll have standing room, and storage space for coolers ect...
Love going with ppl or alone.
All yall "truck camper youtubers" are exactly the same.. drive to random location, cook food, sleep, done BORING!
We do it just for you Dave. Thanks for watching!
I don't blame you for hauling it out of there before the snow storm gets worse so you're not stuck in it. Here's so tips I learned : To sleep onto your clothes you're waring the next day so they will be warm to wear but long John wear was necessary. As far as the 30 ➕ year MRE.. Good luck, 😊
I got the same setup from truck to tent 🤣 Love them both,
I got a queen size 0° sleeping bag, a full size air bed with pump oh and two 12 volt extension cord so I can pump up the air bed, I went crazy and found myself a 1500 watt inverter so I can have some real electric. 12 volt coffee maker. 12 volt electric blanket. Coleman gas grill and a 4-ft folding table. And two large 6 ft x 7 ft camo blankets, now I just need to go camping. About the time I get everything ready the four service here closes the forest because it average temperature every day was 93° and no rain so the forest was closed.
This is the video that I saw, what in the world is that??? So I backed it up and it said Napier on the Tent. I was watching the guy have a mad scramble to get everything packed and get up and gone before it snowed him in!!!! So I googled Napier and saw these really cool looking tents and did some study and some homework and then in about 2 weeks it showed up FedEx. Napier backroads camo truck tent!!!!
“We”? Just you dude.
Maybe first time camping should have been somewhere safer.
Is that a tonneau cover on the ground?
Yes it is
Do you have the short bed Tacoma then ?? Cause I have like 5.5 short bed
Yea I do have a short bed
Hello from Tennessee 🙃
Nice video! I have a Tacoma as well. Why did you choose the full size short bed and not the compact short bed? I would like to get one of these, seems well made. Thanks.
I didn’t have a particular preference when I purchased it. I liked the way it looked and got a pretty good deal on it, so I jumped on it
???
Awesome setup. Truck looks incredible
Thanks! I appreciate it!
What’s a fucking upgrade !
Is that the best winter camping tent ? Thermal wies ?
No it is isn’t. As far as truck tents go I’m not sure what the best would be. For regular tents, a lot of people seem to like the ice fishing tents for winter camping
Looks awesome! Looking forward to the camping videos with this new setup. You definitely lose a little interior space over the Napier but setup is a snap and it should be much more durable.
I’m excited! I like the fact that I don’t have to take everything out of the truck bed and find it a new home when we put the tent up
Don't forget to season it
What do you mean by that? Probably something I should know lol
you need to spray it down with water inside and out and let it sun dry with the doors open it tightens to stitching so it won't leak in rain
your truck is looking great
Thank you! I love the look with the tent on the back
Looks great! I would have been way overwhelmed putting it together. Looking forward to seeing you using it for the first time!
I can’t wait! It did get overwhelming at times especially trying to film it, but I’m excited about the future with it!
That's why they call it camping , I don't camp like I use to and built my cabin but I did travel the US for three weeks using a tent thanks
Yeap. It was unfortunate. I may bite the bullet and get a rtt for our journey across the country. Storage didn’t go the way I would like on this trip.
hello there rough times sometimes happens, did your tent leak at all? take care c-ya
It did not! Held up very well given the conditions
That's why they call it adventure! I'm glad you're both ok! Your video is awesome!
That’s the truth!
Life happens. Hope you enjoy the rest of your break. At least it wasn’t cold
Thank you! It’s cold and windy now lol. We’re having fun though!
Time for a rtt
That’s the move when I get the funds for it!
Can't go wrong with the smittybilt for the money
@@Matt-xw4vl that’s the one I have my eye on!
Sorry to hear that man hope Napier will send you a replacement pole good luck
It’s still functional, but I’m going to see what I can do with it
I can only speak for myself, but I would have still liked to see you staying in a cabin. I like watching all types of travel/ outdoor vlogs (tent, van, bus, cabin, or like Steve Wallis; anywhere).
I appreciate it! I have some other ideas not involved with my truck, so that’s great to hear!
Great video. Did you go on a Friday the 13th by chance? :) I would suggest to consider taking a 2nd tent as a backup for the long trip. Napier sometimes has "defective" tents for sale for cheap. All you got to do there is to just waterproof it. Also look at the defective tent sales for spare parts. One of the tent poles on my Napier broke, and it was cheaper to buy a sales tent with all the fixings then to get just the tent poles.
Definitely smart to have a spare tent for our big trip! Thanks for the advice!
Just bought a camo Napier for my Tacoma. Excited!
Enjoy it!
Hi Do you need some great lighting for your car to help you better driving, off-road? We're the pro auto lighting manufacturer for nearly 20 year and we're looking for sponsorship!
I saw your email and will respond there. Thanks for reaching out!
How did you stay warm in the tent did you use or have you used a my buddy heater in your tent just wanting to know cause I am torn between the Napier and the Wise Moose
That’s a good question. I have not used a buddy heater. I just layered and used a 0 degree bag. I have seen a guy use a buddy in a Napier and it seemed to work well. I plan on getting a diesel heater for next winter
Man I am just like you I just recently started my own TH-cam channel bro make the same mistakes
All part of the learning process! I do my best to turn it into a positive though
Really enjoy your videos. Love the down to earth nature of the presentation. My only comment is that, whenever you speed up a video segment, you need background music; the Benny Hill theme song (Yackety Sax) would be eminently appropriate. Keep up the good work!
I appreciate it! I have attempted music, but I'm struggling to get it lined up correctly. I am planning on getting a new laptop soon to help with the editing process.
Man, keep doing what you’re doing. I love your videos. And just call everything an MRE.
I appreciate it! That might be the move lol
For you trying a MRE for the first time you unfortunately didn't pick the right one haha Chili Mac is the way to go. MRES can be hit or miss. Some are good.. others not so much! Def always stay away from the crackers they will dry the hell out of your mouth haha!
Lesson learned on the crackers lol
enjoyed this video c-ya
I appreciate it!
