    Hey Lorelee, this is Mark from the church you spoke at tonight (Wednesday the 19th). I'm a new subscriber! lol. Thank you so much for your talk I really appreciated it and learned a lot. Also, this subject on Spiritualism has something I've dug a bit into and couldn't help but smile because I've read so much of the Fox sisters! 2 Cor. 6:15-18 says: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or, what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” Do you not understand the character of God which requires faithfulness to Him because He is a jealous God? Don’t insult God by trying to defend any participation in the celebration and decorations for Christmas, as if God approves of it.

    I don't think Catholics wanted to attend Elizabeth's Anglican church, the pope would not allow it . But the tension was between conservative Anglicans who wanted to keep Catholic costums, and radical Protestants who wanted the Church to be more frugal and asketic, along with the teachings of John Knox and later the Presbyterians lead by Oliver Cromwell.

    At 12:37 you call queen Jane Grey "Jane Eyre" Then you keep calling Anne Boleyn "Anne Berlin". "Berlin" is a misunderstanding by the program doing the textings of the youtube videos about her. The texting program "hears" "Berlin" but that is wrong. She was Anne Boleyn. Pronounced "Bolynn". If you watch the series "Tudors" you will get it.

      I can't believe I said Jane Eyre; that is actually kind of funny. This was from four years ago, and at the time, my daughter was still in school, and I was homeschooling her; we were doing some Jane Eyre books. Also, I struggle a lot with pronunciation of names, It is difficult when there are so many. As a side note, for some reason, "Massachusetts" is a word that kills me every time. I always end up having to do a bunch of takes whenever that state is in the story.

    Public school founded by Communism and Socialism. Really? That is really strange for here in Sweden public schooling were established in 1842 - the first time only Christianity was taught : the Bible, the Hymn book and "The Little Catechesis by Martin Luther. Anything Marxist was shunned from the education system. School duty was introduced 1842 several years before the Communist Manifesto 1848.

      If you listen to the episode you will see that the countries that I talk about are USA, Canada, Prussia/ Germany, and Russia. I don't think I mentioned Sweden. Also, I talked about how before our current public school system the church was the ones that saw education as important and started schools. The history here is how Marxist and communism impacted the school system that we have here in Canada, and America, and also many countries in Europe. I am glad your school system in Sweden is good. Praise God for that. And work hard to keep it that way. I wish we had a good option for public school here.

      @Churchhistorypodcast 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@AmberFaganello i work very hard to be accurate. I am not anti Catholic. I love the church, this books covers the time period before the Reformation, so all the men and women who loved and served God in this book were Catholic. However they came a time when the church became extremely corrupted and had to be fixed. In my next book, and in my podcast I talk about men of God who disagreed with the Reformation and felt the Catholic Church should be reformed from within. I cover the bad parts of the reformation. the episode "the worst church in history" talks about a non Catholic Church. In my episodes on Hudson Taylor I talk about how many churches that were not Catholic hurt other nations with a bad view of missions. I have many episodes showing the failings of non Catholic churches as countries picked sides in the Catholic vs protestant denomination and went to war over it. I try very hard to be honest and fair, showing the bad and the good of our church history so we can learn from those who came before us. The book covers the story of Columbus, and his faith in God. He was catholic and I talk about how he had priest that came with him. The book also covers Ambrose, St. Augustine, St. Patrick, Charlemagne, all Catholics. In the stories of the crusades and the inquisitions I talk about the good intentions many in the church had, but also the Significant problems that arose from them.

    "Hypothetical situation: your god orders you to enter your nearest maternity ward and start slashing the throats of the newborns therein. Will you obey?" Put this question to Xians to show them their moral sickness. They don't want to say no. (That's disobedience, which is what they call a 'sin'). That would mean they can no longer claim to base their morality "on God's will." They just disobeyed a direct command! _Their_ will is in the driver's seat. _Their_ will is the ultimate arbiter of morality. So they often say, "God wouldn't do that." But that's Man judging God, which is _also_ taboo. It green-lights anyone to note all the biblical slavery, torture and carnage by God's hand & command and _righteously_ judge God (and Jesus via trinitarianism) to be a malevolent, malicious, mass murdering monster. Plus, God _does_ do that; all through the bible: orders people to go kill others, including babies. So if "God wouldn't do that" then the bible _slanders_ God! The scary thing is how many Xians immediately give the only non-hypocritical answer without qualm: "Yes, I would obey." Sick!

      If someone is in a church that tells you God wants you to kill people, get out immediately and contact the police. God is the creator of life. He commands us to choose life and live. I follow God because of who He is, and He is the creator of life who conquered death at the cross. Unfortunately through history at times people have used blind obedience to the church leadership to do evil. I have covered some of those stories in this podcast and will cover more in the future. I'm very thankful for figures like Nietzche and Freud. They helped move us away from the sick, dehumanizing cult of Xianity to the superior moral system of atheism or at least to abjuring a personal god and becoming agnostic theists; who believe in some "higher power" sort of god but hold no beliefs about how many there are; if they're male, female or neither; good, evil or neither; care about humans or not. Nor what these higher beings might love/hate, like/dislike or want.

    Wow. Nice historical breakdown but to say that those who criticize and strongly disagree with Scofield hate him and hate the Jewish people and those love Scofield love the Jewish people is extremely unfair and dishonest.

      I am sorry if you thought I said he banned all snakes. I said through his teaching paganism left Ireland and that is where the saying he kicked all the snakes came from. Perhaps that wasn't clear enough. The saying means he drove paganism out.

    I'm a Jewish believer, and I am thankful for Christian dispensationalists like Cyrus Scofield and for others who reached out to me in love and patiently brought me to an understanding and love for Jesus, the Jewish Messiah. How different are those who preach replacement theology and who treat Jewish people with contempt and whose antisemitism creates a barrier between Jesus and Jewish people like me. How grateful I am to God that He brought me to Himself through dispensationalist Christians! I also thank you for making this excellent video!

    Hating Israel and hating Jews is not the same thing.

      If someone hates the only Jewish nation it's a pretty good bet they hate Jews. You could disagree with a choice the nation of Israel makes, but a Christian can not hate Israel and also claim to worship the God of Israel. You can't claim to be a follower of the Lion of Judah while hating Judah.

      Zionism is a 19th century Protestant heresy that existed nowhere in the first *eighteen hundred* years of the Church's history. Loving your neighbor -- i.e. not bombing him into oblivion, indiscriminately killing his women and children, and putting him in a concentration camp so you can occasionally "mow the grass" -- that is at the heart of historic Christianity's teachings. Unfortunately, Evangelicals seem to have forgotten that of late...

      @@Churchhistorypodcast Maybe it's impossible if you conflate the Israel described in the bible with them modern state of Israel. Western Zionism has it's history deeply in anti semitism , look into the Balfour declaration as an example, western government supported zionism as a means to remove Jews from Europe. Many practicing orthodox Jews oppose the state of Israel.

    This is a very strange account of Scofield and "his" Reference Bible.To say that only those who hate Jews dislike Scofield just proves how bias & inaccurate this account is.I notice there is no mention of Scofield becoming a Freemason via his friendship with the atheist zionist Samuel Untermyer.The same athiest Samuel Untermyer who financed the Scofield Reference Bible.Having said that it was also highly amusing via its complete inaccuracy & its rewriting of Scofields "conversion" to Christianity or the whitewashing of the fact that Scofield was corrupt.By the way i am Jewish.
