Second Chakra Consciousness
Each of our chakras is a different perspective and stage of consciousness.
The second chakra is the "toddler" stage, the ability to see others close to us and form relationships with them.
It is also an opening to creativity, passion, and genuine spiritual interest. The path of the "seeker" begins in the second chakra.
Learn what blocks our second chakra from fully awakening, and how developing healthy friendships and relationships comes from a functional, fully flowing second chakra.

    Hello Mary. I remember from your books that your have a Zen background. I am very interested in the differences and similarities of the non-dual vs mindfulness approaches. I mean approaches where you leave your attention run free without control vs focusing your attention to do certain things (observe the body, the thoughts, generate gratitude, love, etc) I love to explore how those 2 are different and similar and would love to hear your take if your consider it interesting. Are we reinforcing something when we "try to do", are we "disappearing", allowing life to run through us when we just focus on "letting go". Doing vs not doing, zooming in vs zooming out, etc Thanks a lot!

    Thank you. I think I had pingala related difficulties for a very long time after my initial awakening in 2018. As you said, very stuck in the same pain, no shift in perspective or flow for about 5 years, and an intense psychosis episode. The last year has been different, I managed to move to a much easier place to live, and now it's more of a cyclical pattern that includes periods of clarity, connection and clearing. Hopeful that the energy is moving thru my midline now. Either way just glad it is now bearable. I have your book so will go and check for more. Appreciate your videos.

    I of course forgot something...The perspective of first chakra consciousness also includes "tribalism", or seeing through black vs. white thinking, and prioritizing whatever group beliefs/energies the person belongs to (us good, all others bad/to be hated/feared). I talk about differentiation a bit but this part of first chakra consciousness is very important to understand... as we are a world immersed in such first chakra perspective and division.

    Mary, regarding the teacher and student relationship, I very much appreciate that you have shared a lot of great ideas and tools with your students, but at the same time, you always encourage your students to go with what resonates with them and what feels right to them. Because this is how they get to cultivate their own intuition, develop personal gnosis and build their direct connection to the divine. This is their power. Thank you. ❤

      I appreciate that... but will also say that that is really how it supposed to be, and how spiritual work is intended to be carried on. If students remain as spiritual children, and never spiritually "grow up" they won't ever truly carry their own light and work into the world.

    Definitely looking forward to this series of videos! What a great idea. Thanks for sharing. As for this video, the subject of dreams is just in time for me. I’ve recently been coming back to my dreams as a tool of consciousness and tool for strengthening awareness. I haven’t given my dreams much attention for several years as I find that the ones I really need seem to break through into my awareness one way or another. Plus, I think I heard somewhere that on average we spend something like 6 years of our life in the dream state and as a parent the opportunity to find more usable time is hard to pass up 😂

    I have found your videos helpful. Actually, when you discussed the idea of spiritual origins and unusual identities, it struck something somewhere. How you said that as long as it makes you whole and balanced, how it makes you more connected. You see, I had tried to connect occasionally with your Changeling myth, and non-human origination. I read your Spiritual Awakening Guide. The sections involving past lives were to be skipped entirely. Intuition said skip, logic said don't skip. Somehow, I had gotten the sense that reincarnation is inappropriate to consider in my case, and I occasionally wondered if it had something to do with non-human origination. But in the end, it feels like an effort toward something false. In the end, I just have a difficult time with identity. So maybe I'll go out and find a piece of it today.

    This resonates with me so much. It has been very difficult for me to establish a connection with my body, and ground, because my body has had so many physical issues that started in childhood and continue into adulthood. And it seems that whenever I try to get more involved in some physical activity, it gets taken away from me because of a new or worsening physical condition. In some ways, it seems like the body is screaming for attention, but yet when it’s given attention it self-sabotages. I don’t know how to get over these obstacles on the path.

    • @MaryShutan
      @MaryShutan 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is a sort of balance between accepting physical limitations and illness and seeking to heal. Often fully accepting whatever is going on with us is a good path towards working with our limitations, instead of fighting against them. I would recommend to anyone looking to become more embodied my video called "How to Feel" and my book "The Body Deva". The Body deva is the consciousness of the body, and by learning communications skills we can learn to listen to our bodies and what they need. Both are tools of embodiment that don't require physical activity. I hope that helps.

    Hi Mary, thank you for your videos and books, they are very helpful! I'm wondering if several of the aspects that you mention in regards to a Kundalini Awakening (like overcoming victim mentality and childhood stuff) can be "overcome", for lack of a better word, without a Kundalini Awakening, or are they always related? Thanks! Edit: BTW, are Twin Flame awakenings something you talk about?

    • @MaryShutan
      @MaryShutan 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, they can be overcome without kundalini awakening. It is, in fact, one of the goals of things like talk therapy. Plenty of people, awakening or not, look at this sort of stuff all the time. It is just people who are awakening might have it come up more loudly so they become a bit more aware of it and have reason to tend to it. I have talked about Twin Flames in a few of my courses but haven't for a while. I will consider talking about it.

    Thank you Mary. Very informative. I always thought mine was a top down awakening but I don't experience much of what has been mentioned. I had a few months when K spontaneously happened when I had so much pressure in my head that it felt like my skull would crack open. Perhaps a crown chakra blockage but could still be some top down issue. It was gradually calmed and balanced with acupuncture. I have POTS at an extreme level with this second round so lots of leg and assorted brain and all over body issues. It has disabled me. It seems my body is busy trying to balance all over. I am going through my second Saturn return and it most definately has taken my legs from underneath me to perhaps ultimately to bring the balance required. Saturn affects our legs apparently. ❤

  • @WeAreOurBeloved
    @WeAreOurBeloved 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Hi Mary, thank you for this video. It is very informative and helpful. I have also seen a lot of misinformation about kundalini and how in all kinds of ways people claim they have it. From my own observation, many people want to claim they have a kundalini awakening because they associate it with glamor. They believe that once someone has a kundalini awakening it means there will be permanent bliss and everything in their lives will be easy, and they will be regarded very highly. I feel the part that people are most uneducated about is how difficult kundalini awakening actually is. Especially during the first few years when kundalini is the fire of purification, it can be very brutal and violent. We can become dysfunctional. Our resilience and strengths are stretched beyond our limits again and again over a very long period of time. Also speaking of the benefits and gifts that come at the later stages of kundalini awakening, I feel the benefits are not even what the majority of the people will be interested in (I'd say 96%?). Because those gifts (e.g. seeing our shadows, seeing our dark sides) are about one's consciousness continually leaping forward. They are not really in tandem with materialistic values or goals which are what most people are interested in: money, success, superiority, so on and so forth. I wonder if these people get to know the true nature of kundalini, what it really is about, would it still be something they want to claim that they have, or even be interested in pursuing. It is helpful that you have given people the realisms of what to expect and what to look for down the road. This is a very deep and sacred path that should not be taken lightly. Thank you.

    • @MaryShutan
      @MaryShutan 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is a sort of "grass is always greener" type of illusion when it comes to things like kundalini awakening, or really any sort of spiritual experience. People do prefer the illusion, as you have to admit it sounds nicer. We experience a lot of suffering as human beings and the idea of that doing something quickly, with little effort, and the fulfilling of the wounds of being special and seen are very alluring to people. It is why illusion will always be preferable to reality in terms of this, or any spiritual topic (for example, that even someone who is conscious will experience the ups and downs of existence, they just have a different vantage point on them/experience them differently/accept them instead of fear them). There is a big irony that the sort of predatory illusions that are peddled regarding spirituality are just aimed at very common human wounds, rather than reality. A lot of them are rooted in the prosperity gospels (if you are spiritual enough, you will be wealthy, e.g.) The irony is that awakening makes you no longer need to identify as special, chosen, and all of those desires: for fame, money, stuff, are looked at and released. And thank you 🙂 I do enjoy sharing to people who can resonate, even if I recognize that most people are looking for illusion, as it is quite a comforting anesthetic.

    Hi Mary, I was interested to know more about the difference between Kundalini stirring & the purging/clearing stage, verses experiences many folks have that are engaging in somatic therapies for releasing trauma in the body. The reason I ask is that I hear this attributed to "Kundalini" in some circles, but I'm not sure that's accurate given what you are saying here - specifically the part about confusing it for flight/fight activation. In my personal experience, this kind of bodywork has resulted in intense energy & shaking through the midline. There has also been significant purging & clearing of trauma & conditioning - resulting in bliss states, heightened intuition and transformation in self and relationship to others & life itself. I'm just wondering how you would separate these two processes, Thanks 🙏

    Thank you Mary for talking dream stuff. I read the Hillman book many years ago and the thing that stood out to me the most was the refreshing, unique perspective. I think I will revisit it. I resonated with your talking point of control. My dreams have been trying to show me where I need to let go of control and I am finally getting some of the messages. I like your response to the previous comment about viewing dreams as interesting and trusting that the important stuff will make itself known. I think it would better for people to put more effort into just discussing dreams and less effort into figuring them out. It works out better for me when I take this approach though I still like to try to “figure things out”. - Tina

    • @MaryShutan
      @MaryShutan 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It is definitely a balancing act of figuring out when to let go and when to look more deeply into a message that is coming up. I do find that letting go of control really helps- then when what something doesn't "flow" out of your awareness naturally, it sort of sticks around and makes itself known, that is what I pay attention to these days as something I should pay attention to

  • @WeAreOurBeloved

    Hi Mary, thanks for this insightful video. My dreams consist of very bizarre symbols/images that have some sort of universal/archetypal element but are also heavily blended into my own personal experiences and psyche. For example, a celebrity (who I appreciate very much) who died some 30 years ago showed up in my dream telling me that he had UTI. The majority of the books out there are of little help to me. I find the most helpful thing in terms of dream interpretation is my personal gnosis: what this means for me personally through my own intuition. And you pointing out we need to let go of illusions of control and not try to dissect our dreams is something that also helps. That's something I am learning at the moment. Thank you. --Fang

    • @MaryShutan
      @MaryShutan 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It sounds like you are right in line with both books I have chosen. I very much agree that relying on intuition is key. With my dreams, and with most spiritual happenings these days, I am at a place of viewing them as interesting but trusting that if something important needs to arise, it will. Since I have started doing that messages in dreams, when they need to arise, have become much more clear (I jokingly say that my dreams can sometimes treat me like I am stupid sometimes).

    You described this very well. It really is becoming a relief that I do not have to be all knowing! LOL I say that truly laughing at myself. At one time it seemed unsafe to admit I didn't know or understand something. Bullying and ridicule are often served up on the same platter, so trying to know stuff is a false way to protect from bullies. I still catch myself, but at least I can notice more when I do it.
