I tend to not like out of nowhere redemptions due to the aftermath being so weak as a result, and the redemption feeling unearned, so I can at least understand where Illumination was coming from with the Grinch. I really get the sentiment; Grinch having some sort of motive can work... The thing is, however, that Grinch does have a motive in the book. It's a petty motive, but it's tangible; he was annoyed with the Whos and how noisy and shallow Christmas was to him. And in a strange way, there was still a reason for his change of heart. Seeing the Whos still having their spirits even without their gifts was touching even to him. It made for a pretty unique message, but the execution of this Grinch's potentially sympathetic backstory was kinda generic. Yeah, it's sad, but if you're not gonna do much new with it, it's just kinda cliche... except for one aspect... The one thing they do with it that I like is when he interacts with Cindy Lou Who. She wanted Santa to help her mother be less burdened with work. That's pretty sweet, I like how it ties into this version of the Grinch's longing for a good family. But it didn't really have to be in a Grinch movie, that's the thing. They could have made a Christmas movie with a villain redemption arc. Not to mention, Cindy doesn't get to interact with the Grinch all that much in this movie, so that's probably why James didn't think she contributed much to the story prior to meeting the Grinch. And at least in the Jim Carry version, when Grinch saved her, he still acted all tsundere about it, which was more in character for him. Can someone please do a Christmas movie with a better redemption arc? Oh wait, A Christmas Carol is also a thing with Jim Carry. Nevermind.

Why do a lot of people dislike James Corden? I've heard a few controversies about him, but I think I've pinned down what's wrong with him as an actor. If I could describe his acting in one word, it'd have to be generic. I like some British comedians, but there's something about performances like his that rub me the wrong way. There's an uncanny plainness to some characters played by British actors for some reason. Even characters I like, like Stolas, have moments where the actors feel like they're going through the motions, giving takes that just about anyone can give. Bryce is a great actor, don't get me wrong, but he has his somewhat weak moments. And that's typical of James Corden's acting. "None of these people know him, but they like him. And that's what matters in this life; popularity!" The way he said that in the Emoji Movie, I think anyone else can give a line read just like that. I know people dislike him as a person, but when it comes to his acting, I feel like he's just plain. Was he in Hop? I think he'd be right at home with that movie.

I think the interpretive sticks scene was better than the arrow scene cause Arlo was slightly better than Merida. Arlo was meh but Merida was mostly a determent to her own self-made fate. Like, she wants to be independent, but depends on her mum after turning her into a bear by accident? Girl, whatchu on??

You know a movie is bad when you want the villain to kill the hero... ok, that is a stretch, I like Death Note and it pulled that off well cause the villain protagonist was still compelling. But Cody in Surfs Up 2 is no Kira and I would not have minded if Tank was the one who knocked Cody into the lava. James sure nailed it with Surfs Up 2; character assassination is one of the worst things a sequel can do and I would take Metroid Other M over that movie. At least Samus there wasn't a murderous piece of penguin poo.

Also now that I know how animation works and I do my own as well rewatching this film now I thought something was off and your right it is way to slow I miss that fast paced movement of the shows.

I grew up with both and to this day I love this movie, honestly better then some of the ones they came out with later on. Though I do remember when it came out people where in uproar that they talked for the first time it wasn't received well, but now that I am older honestly they picked decent voice actors to play them for the time. You also have to keep in mind slapstick humor is hard to do for like 60 minutes to keep peoples attention so they had to make it more story based. Plus the songs are catchy cheese
