How to RESTORE Old, Faded Plastic like NEW!
Gorgeous swords, unfortunatly i have a bit of hate boner for Tozando lol, glad you enjoyed your trip.
They had some very nice swords. Wish I could have bought a real one. Maybe one day. Both of the guys at Tozando were very nice and took a lot of time to talk with me. Thanks for watching!
Awesome. Which vice is that by chance?
It is a cheapo vise from Amazon but it has worked for me doing light to medium work. Not sure what "name brand" it is.
@@backcountryrich7740Thanks. Do you know the size of the opening. Trying to make sure I have enough space to do a bearing.
The Germans and Romans have wootz steel. The Middle East gets Damascus. Stacks or folded steel with a bunch of layers is "Tamahagane Enough"? Maybe add blessing, handmade, culture, and beauty of craftsmanship to sum up the price?
There is a lot of work that goes into any handmade sword plus the limited amount of Tamahagane produced each year adds to the cost. The Japanese swords if I had the money would definitely be at the top of the list along with the broadsword.
thanks sir 👍👍
Glad it helped!
nice restoration. I'm starting the restoration on my dads 88 cr500. He's had it since before I could retain memory (I think before I was born). I have never even heard him start that bike up (he rode it, but I didn't live with him so I never got a chance to hear it or let alone see it in action). I remember being like 4 years old looking at it in his garage along side his other 2 cr 250's thinking it was the coolest thing in the world, and always have had the thought in the back of my head through out life of that CR500. He was in a bad crash in the 90's on it and parked it, and there it sat.... When I turned 12, I moved from California to Texas, and due to money and life etc. we lost contact. Well, this year I got a call that he was on his death bed with cancer so I flew out to Cali. and I was able to see him 1 last time. He unfortunately passed away and I was left with the challenge of figuring out how to get his home cleaned out for his landlord and get this bike and whatever else back to Texas in 3 days (btw, my dad was lost in depression due to him not hearing my brother or I or talking to us and he unfortunately turned into a hoarder, so his home was extremely challenging on top of the people going there trying to take stuff because he passed). My brother and I bought a trailer in California, used my dads 98 k1500 truck that had no ac and wrecked steering/suspension on 35's and in unknown condition, filled up the trailer and truck with whatever we could possibly fit, and set off on a race against the clock to get back to Texas due to us only having so much time off work. 36 hours later and a strait shot through without stopping, we made it home. After some time, I made some extra time where I could check out this bike, I cleaned the clogged carb, put fresh gas in it, and on the second kick after sitting for like 27 years, it fired up... Was pretty emotional for me, but seeing your restoration gives me hope on getting this bike squared away in honor of my dad.
Thanks for sharing your story! My bike was a barn find in southern Idaho. I remember seeing these bikes in the 80's when I was a kid and thinking the same thing, coolest thing I had ever seen and wanted one so bad. The Honda CR500 was at the top of the list. It took a long time before I was able to buy one and restore it but it finally happened. I think if you take the time to restore it and do it right you will have an awesome bike for one and you might just connect with your Dad a little more even thought he is gone. Glad you got to see him one last time. I have my Grandads old rifle and have used it occasionally. It always brings back great memories from those days. He passed on many years ago. Restoring the bike will be totally worth it. There will be some challenges as some parts can be hard to find. Depending on the condition of the bike you might consider a partial restoration to keep it more connected to when your Dad rode it. Or send it and do a full resto. There are several great guys out there on Facebook who helped me along. Millar Race Engineering helped me a lot. Anthony's AMEVOMX has a lot of vintage plastic reproductions and seats. Thanks for supporting the channel and Good luck!
good video
Thanks!
Gorgeous I want one so bad
Me too. I would like to buy the real thing. Thanks for your support!
Because it is also likely traditionally made and prized for historical and cultural value.
They have to pass certain qualifications and attain a license in Japan to create these swords. Plus the Tamahagane is hard to come by. Thanks for your support!
Cool stuff. Thanks for showing
Thanks for watching!
Best video on here by far been going crazy trying to get one last stud out was going to weld a nut right to it until I saw this thanks saved the day
Glad it helped out. Thanks for watching!
It turned out nice!
Thanks!
Looks like a cat d6n
You are correct!
@@backcountryrich7740 sitting in one in Scotland right now 👍👌👌
Nice! Would love to visit Scotland. I like the D6N but it can be under powered for pushing lots of snow. What type of work are you doing?
@@backcountryrich7740 hi I mostly do general earthworks with the Trimble GPS system . they are a bit under powered but I like them 👍
I have never used one with a GPS. Think there is another D6 model that has more power?
I would lose my mind there. I receive emails from that very store. I’m 68 yrs. old now and have loved this stuff since I was 9 yrs. old . It started after watching the movie “ The Seven Samurai “ on TV with my older brother. Since then I’ve watched or own just about every major Samurai film that was ever conceived . Next year we are going to Japan and there is no way I’m coming home without something. My gift to me for 50 years of working my tail off. 😊
I love swords and katanas all that stuff too. I did buy one Iaito but I wanted a real katana. Hope your trip is awesome next year! Definitely recommend shipping the katana back home. About $70 bucks to the USA. I flew my Iaito back and Japanese customs went nuts and made me unpack the unsharpened sword right at the baggage check in to make sure it was not a real weapon. I thing a lot of people were entertained with the whole deal at Narita Airport. Thanks for supporting the channel!
Indian mountain?
Keep learning, looks like a worthy pastime.
No one teaches that sort of thing around here.
A whole new world. 🇯🇵 (⚾️Yay Goldpanners!)
It was a fun adventure to Japan. Glad you noticed the Goldpanners shirt. LOL
Stunning example of yesteryears commercial flight. ❤
There a few still flying!
Wow love mangosteen
They are delicious. Thanks for the support!
There no left hand for withdrawal!!
Can't help it. I am backwards. Fool your opponent.
Its like the reverse katana
You in Thailand for the temples and food like everyone else?
Food is great. Temples are interesting although I am not a Buddhist
Main reason is living here is very inexpensive for me. Buying a house and trying to get a job in the U.S. as a former hard working taxpayer. You must be joking!
@@backcountryrich7740 You expat now?
No, just living here on extended visa. Basically if you keep paying them they will let you stay.
@@backcountryrich7740 Right, everything is for sale there. Temples and food....
Since you got yourself a genuine katana, you need to learn kendo. Then you can look like a samurai!
No one teaches Kendo around here but that might improve my sword handling.
@@backcountryrich7740 as an alternative, I suppose you can always try learn online? Good luck with your newfound hobby
When you draw, many swordsmen will withdraw the saya slightly so they are not risking hitting it with the tip. Also don't wave it around like a highlander. You would immediately lose a hand. Lastly, you should probably look up iaijutsu kata #1 and work that down before you start trying Hollywood tip flips out of the scabbard. It will teach you to know where the blade is.
Thank you for the advice and you sound like you know your stuff. This is also why I have a dull practice sword. Hopefully nobody takes me seriously. Thanks for watching!

Awesome city 💪
Loved it. Like to visit again with some time to check everything out.
Went all the way to Japan to buy a sword and didn't even get Hanzo steel. SMH my head.
Wish I could just go to Japan for a sword. Don't have that kinda money. Maybe in the future.
@@backcountryrich7740 I'm sure the deadly viper assassin squad will let you hang out with that one.
Same here, would love to own one. Maybe one day.
This is symbolize the true art of uniqueness of japanese cultures , and this is my dream that i can own it even it just only one 😊
I have the same dream. Thanks for your support!
Amazing katana
Hey Thanks for your support!
needed a lot more 400. you can still see the sticker lines even after `1500
The more effort you put in the better the result. Thanks for your support!
Did the bathroom have a bidet? Everything had a bidet when I lived there, the Family Marts even.
@@fatray2834 It did. Also had a sink on the top of the toilet. I forgot to get video of that.
I know this video is a couple years old now but how do I get the two nuts off the stud😐 they are on there good
Might have to apply some heat. Are the shoulders stripped off?
Thanks for watching! Please give me a sub.
The fact I was there 2 days ago and saw all of them ( aswell as the other shop 50 steps away )
My first time in Japan. I only had 2 days there. Spent one day in Tokyo and the next day in Kyoto.
@@backcountryrich7740 I hope you enjoyed it
Had a great time in Kyoto. Like to go back with more time.
@@backcountryrich7740 I mean yeah 2 days isn’t a lot of time 👍
All sorts of cool. The Japanese know how to do bad ass.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for tour.

Well its 500 subs now but I still have not met the required watch hours for monetization.
Leaves them alone 🤡 🌮 🌯

Imagine paying fifty thouasand for a katana that has the same blade engraving that a $60 Masahiro gas station katana has on its 1045 blade with a wire brushed hamon.
You're paying for the work that was put into it, not for the actual product itself.
❤😂😂😘😘😘👍👍👍
wow its kind of crazy that a sword is worth 5 000 000 yen and that suit of armor is only 1.65 million yen. The amount of hours it would take you to make that suit of armor would be enough to forge, grind, sharpen and fit at least four katanas, yet its worth less. Especially the mail portion.. that requires a lot of painfully slow work.
I agree. Maybe the armor is the best deal?
I want it all. If you win the lottery, there is a shop in Japan where you can order custom fitting armor for yourself. Comes with a lacquered storage box.
@@davidtuley5898 If I win I will go there!
You go to one of them used panty vending machines?
Oh man, I missed out on that one.
Oh, wow - you had to go there, didn’t you…(!) 😆
That's awesome almost time to get my brother and mine 91' finishing carb soon I may post that's a very hopeful vid thanks..
Good luck. Hope it fires up the first time!
Nice trick, thanks
Thanks for watching!
Ik this is kinda long ago but how did you know how tight to tighten them you just hand tighten them?
Well I have a manual. Would recommend getting one or look up your bike online to get the torque spec. Thanks for watching!
Thanks from Newfoundland Canada
