Omg yeah, it really is that good ❤ think I first got this a year after it came out. My auntie gifted it to me with beautifully detailed official walkthrough book (she wasn’t a fan of the pace of the game). I don’t know what I loved more but I carried that book everywhere lol. It was creepy but fun, better when I didn’t play by myself at the time so I wouldn’t have nightmares lmao 🤣 then fast forward 15 years after learning this worked on a PS3, I got a new copy to show my husband the magic of this game lol. Died laughing most of the time because of the graphics (which actually were pretty awesome when it came out) and couldn’t believe I got thru 90% of it in like 4 hours when as a kid it took an embarrassingly long time…with the walkthrough 🤦🏾‍♀️😂 Will always be a classic, just like some of the other square-enix games released around the same time

For 16 it is that it’s bland and uninteresting. Side quests were bad, combat was easy. Characters were mostly just surface level.

Great game. I think it's better than the first Resident Evil.

I was OBSESSED with this game when it came out. I was 10 years old and was too scared to play the game past the sewer, so I never actually finished it. I played that first hour over and over again until my boyfriend played through the entire game for me years later.

The fact that this game has no release on modern consoles (remaster not necessary) is a tragedy. Some good achievements could make this game so much more fun than it already is (and I consider it a 10 out of 10 already). Was a fan of this since day 1 when my friends and I thought Aya looked absolutely awesome in the promo material.

15:50 This is me with a PS2 RPG called MS Saga: A New Dawn. Limited release, absolutely no marketing by NamDai, and it's kinda obvious why in the first 5-10 minutes or so. Yet, I love going back to it just because I love the customization and the music. Anyway, FE7 is definitely one of my formative titles. I was a Marth main back in the days of Melee, and his and Roy's bios always struck me as interesting (same, funny enough, with Ayumi Tachibana, although I'd have to wait until the Switch remakes of the FDC duology to get to know her - and man, do I love those games), so when FE7 was announced for its 2003 release you bet I was hyped for it. Getting the bonus disc from MKDD was an awesome bonus (I was already a fan of the Kart series, so Double Dash was inevitable). My favorite memory is actually grinding Serra up to level 17 in Lyn mode so I could have an early bishop, and she totally destroyed everything in her way, even with heavier tomes like Shine and Aureola (even now, she's one of a few units in Heroes I have an incredible amount of investment in).

Answer is an easy yes. All Fire Emblem streamers play the GBA games the most. The newest like 3 Houses and Engage are ruined by how much "not Fire Emblem" is spent running around between missions.

Considering I go back to FE7 and 8 all the time, and don't play 3H at all anymore, I think the game holds up. It has issues, but they're not fundamental flaws, and game is just simple strategic fun

Looking through a reddit thread, apparently they made updates for XI to make it much more solo friendly since the player base died down a lot.

FF XVI is so boring the enemies only stare you while you spam square and have a bunch of life, this makes the combat so boring, the abilities you use it does not matter, zero strategic

I have very fond memories of PE but i cant imagine the gameplay holds up in 2024. I havent loaded it up on my old consoles out of fear ill break my rose colored glasses

Really enjoyed the video. I absolutely loved this game. Sacred Stones had the better class progression but the story and main characters were far interior.

Would be cool if you did a video on a awesome gba rpg called CIMA the enemy. Or at least check it out if you've never heard of it.

I'm playing XVI right now for the first time (don't have a PS5 and got it in launch for PC) and I'm having a blast.... apart of really missing on the gear, as everything is just a stats boost, the game is super interesting overall and I'm loving it.

I wish I had friends that even knew what Final Fantasy was to make fun of me for it. In a rural area around '99, most kids my age didn't have a clue.

fe7 is also the first one I ever played, right at the beginning when I was a noob both fe7 and fe8 were amazing. After many years now they're just kinda meh to me, I don't like the low amount of units we can dispatch unlike in fe6 and it has a lot of chapters I consider as annoying or fustrating like the FoW and the Survive for how many turns. Now fe6 is my fav fe on gba.

Great video man I subscribed cause I love Fe7. it was my first one I ever played, good times. I played it on VBA emulator back then but man what a game. Got sucked into fire emblem and I've played every single game now. Could never get enough.

It really is a true masterpiece. The complaints I can see, especially for those coming to this entry after other games in the series, are that the mechanics are very basic, you can't skip the tutorial, and the game is too easy. Which are all fair, but these same thing also make it the perfect entry point for the series. The structure of the game was also adjusted to make room for better characters than in past entries. Permadeath was always an obstacle, because the plot couldn't rely on characters being alive, really limiting character depth. So how did this entry address that issue? There are now 3 lords and Merlinus that cannot die at all. Marcus, Oswin, Pent and Louise only get injured and unable to battle instead of killed, so they can participate. Some side quests rely on certain characters being alive. And nobody dies for plot purposes in Lyn mode. Future games vary with how closely they stuck to this strategy. As much as most people love the Three Houses cast, it really annoys me that part 1 of the game has the same plot regardless of route, which makes it so none of the route specific characters (nearly everybody) can be even remotely important to the plot. They don't even get to be important in the chapter they join... because they're just... in your class.

Correction: beating Eliwood Normal unlocks Eliwood Hard and Hector Normal, not Hector Hard. That aside, I agree that the game is fun and nostalgic. There are some issues (the infamous Battle Before Dawn chapter for veteran players, the plot holes appearing when you take a closer look, limited supports per run, etc.), but the fun it provide more than makes up for it imo.

Oh yea this fire emblem. From what I remember the story was decent and the characters are real people instead of one note anime tropes. I really like the character interactions here and they were actually integrated well in the main story, which is rare for fire emblem. I may go back and maybe try to ironman HHM. Also if you like GBA era fire emblem, I definitely recommend checking out some rom hacks, you will never run out of content.
