I love to create creatures from movies or make up my own, the weirder, the better! I trained as a Natural History Illustrator & now teach Adult Education classes - I am constantly Drawing & Painting. As an 80s toy collector, I buy back figures I owned as a child. Not just toys but other memorabilia/nostalgia like erasers, pencil tops, key rings, badges etc. I have 'cabinets of curiosities' with fossils, minerals, seed pods, shells, skulls, archaeology, entomology etc etc. Finally, I have kept & bred many species of reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates & unusual small mammals since I was young. I aim to fill this channel with videos that help inspire creative artists/model makers, help toy collecting identification, & show the habits of some of the most wonderful creatures on this planet with tips on how to keep them happy/healthy & ultimately breed them successfully in captivity. Main aim - for viewers to develop a general love of nature & planet Earth!
Amtoy MADBALLS 12 NEW Designs for 2025?!!!
Imagine if Amtoy released 12 NEW MADBALLS Designs in 2025!!! As a HUGE fan of the original 80s Amtoy MADBALLS Toy- line I decided to live in a fantasy world (nothing new there) & pretend I had been commissioned to design a NEW range (how cool would that be)? What you see in this video are my efforts after sketching & water-colouring, over a couple of days. Obviously, if I did get an actual commission from any of my favourite, hugely-respected toy companies (Amtoy, Kenner, Mattel, Hasbro, Tomy, Tonka, Premium DNA etc etc) I would spend CONSIDERABLY Longer reaching Ball-Design Perfection!!!

I remember these as a kid, you captured the essence of them perfectly. Your designs and colours are brilliant, i love brain strain. Could you make him in 3D from milliput ? Keep up the good work and Happy New Year !
Happy New Year Sir! Glad you like them - I will see what time I get between making movie creatures etc but I would love to make at least one Madball from Milliput - if nothing else, it will look good amongst my actual Madballs figures & Blurpballs & Spitballs. Thanks again for watching!
I hope you oiled the moving parts first
I think I just used a bit of Tamiya damper oil where I thought it was needed. This remains one of my best car-boot sale bargains of all time - so minty!!!
A lovely bit of light-hearted silliness is never a bad thing :)
Great stuff! :)
Hahaha!
Thanks for the comment! I found it funny but not many other people have - you may have the same weird sense of humour that I do - sorry about that!!!
Lovely :)
Thanks again - hey, if you like my weird poems, check out my plasticine animations if you can find them (go to the Leon Creator home page & hit 'Videos' then have a scroll through) - I made them with my kids & we had great fun. They are really short but have the same weird sense of humour!!!
A really enjoyable species to keep. Very beautiful and easy to care for :)
A wonderful species to keep :)
They really are a delight & so much easier than people assume they might be! Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
Great work! :)
Fire Salamanders are one of my favourite salamanders along with Tiger Salamanders . Great video :)
Thank you Sir - I was wondering who the person was that watches my channel! Yes, totally agree with you - Tigers would be my other favourite too. I kept/bred Axolotls too & they are also pretty cool!
@@LeonCreatorwithLeonHills Hahaha! I've always admired axolotls but I've never kept them - I only have room for one aquarium. Hahaha.
These are a great species to keep: very hardy and always entertaining to feed :)
Yes, although they also freak me right out! I keep them in a viv within a viv & the outside viv also has a lid that has to be screwed on. The thought of one of these loose in my house is the stuff of actual nightmares!!! I heard that if they bite you it can feel like putting your hand in fire & the pain can continue for ages - sufficed to say, I am ultra-cautious with mine!
@@LeonCreatorwithLeonHills They have a reputation for being escape artists but I've never had any issues keeping them in large plastic faunariums/critter keepers. They'd sometimes climb onto the underside of the lid during their nightly adventures but I've never experienced them trying to push/chew their way out like I've read on the internet. They can be really fast and you definitely wouldn't want to get bitten, but for the most part I find them to be quite calm and docile if you don't bother them too much :)
Bloody hell your success rate on morphs was amazing. Every time ive tried to rear Obstetricans indoors its been quite dire. I have Cisternasii and they tend to do better.
Thanks for your comment! I have been particularly lucky with the Midwife toads - the outdoor enclosure has just worked. After finding this species in France as a teenager, I just remembered the conditions & habitat vividly & tried to mimic what I saw. They essentially look after themselves - there are woodlice, worms, centipedes etc breeding in with them so I haven't even needed to add any crickets for years now. I just trim/remove any foliage that gets too long & that is it. I haven't even needed to top up their pond either - the rain does it for me. Amazing that you keep the Iberians - I remember going to a conference/talk on them when I was younger - they were so critically endangered at the time. Any captive breeding of the species is so invaluable - one of the reasons I find it hard when I come across people who say no animals should be kept in captivity & that they belong in the wild & should just be left alone. I might agree with that if the problems some of them face were not caused by humans in the first place. Anyway, all the Midwife toads are beautiful & have such an interesting life-cycle. I also love that the tadpoles & toadlets are so huge & hardy. I avoid tiny, delicate anurans usually - just when you think you are doing really well with them & have put extra effort in to keep everything extra clean etc, you look in & find a dead one for seemingly no reason! Did you see my Cane Toad video? They were the other Toad species I loved keeping & I had a Great-Plains Toad in the past - I would love to keep that species again. African Bullfrogs were entertaining too! Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
Hi, Sorry, I just remembered it was the Mallorcan Midwife toad that was the endangered one!!! Iberians are just as lovely though!
It looks fantastic. I used to keep obstetricans and they always proved to be in some way neglected outdoors !
The Alytes group are amongst my favorite also with the Pelobates which have similiar behaviours, apart from the spawning of course.
No ive not seen it, i do keep a group of adult Anaxyrus Cognatus. They are incredibly hard to breed. Ive had them in amplexus 3 years in a row with no spawn. As soon as a warm summer storm approaches they go into a rain chamber. I may crack it this year
Great video Leon - very informative. Can you please tell me what temperatures you're keeping these at? Thanks :)
Hi, I used to keep them at 24-27C during the day - they had a couple of small heat mats in their enclosure, one of which was on permanently & the other was on a timer switch & went off at night. Night temps therefore dropped but were still around 19-20C. Hope that helps - we saw Cane Toads in Australia & a few were in really hot temperatures but we think that was probably rare (most hot days they would be in burrows, hiding under logs or leaves. Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
@@LeonCreatorwithLeonHills It helps a great deal Leon. Thank you :)
@@Creepy-CrawlyMan No problem - best of luck with them - they are a beautiful species & really a great privilege to keep & be able to watch their antics!!!
@@LeonCreatorwithLeonHills Thank you. I've cared for many reptiles, amphibians and inverts over the years. I enjoy your videos because they're based on empirical evidence. You clearly looked after the (not so) little guys very well :)
@@Creepy-CrawlyMan Thank you! I used to keep a huge range of Reptiles, Amphibians, small Mammals & Invertebrates but I had to have open-heart surgery so I cut down on everything to give me time to recover after the op. I have three Armadillos now which are my main focus & a few 'bits & bobs' but I recovered well & am probably healthier than I was before the op! I do have a track record for building my animal collections back up again when I see new species that are fascinating to me. The Cane Toads are definitely my favourite Toad species to keep as a 'pet'. They are huge, intelligent, get to know their owner, feed from your fingers etc - just a bit more expensive to feed! Thanks again & glad you like my channel - if only there were millions more with great taste like yourself!!!

Hi, thanks for your comment! Someone else pointed out a book on micrometeorites that I am planning to buy - a sort-of photo guide. I hope at least some of what I have found turn out to be them!!! I have collected many more since from various locations so fingers crossed. When I know more, I am planning on doing a follow-up video. It would be very disappointing if the ones in this video just turn out to be from industrial processes! Still, I have had fun collecting them & I have continued to search for more so I am hopeful I may have got some by now or else am sure to in the future. Check out my video on Meteorites & Tektites if you get a chance - I know more about those! Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!

Hello Sir, I saw your TH-cam. Your content is nice. But your important topic is not, because your content title and description are not SEO friendly and there is not enough rank tag.
Hello you❤❤
Hello - hope you are still having fun with your build!
you dont need to look far to see where every sci fi creature from the 50,s on has come from Leon, fascinating creature, dont start a leafblower near her!!!
Possibly why I love aliens creatures from movies - I have kept exotic insects since I was 7 or 8 years old - they have always fascinated me. Big ones like this just make their features much easier to see! The word leaf-blower always makes me think of the line in the movie Short Circuit when the excellent robot Johnny 5, in his robot voice says "Your mother was a leaf-blower!" But no, I won't start one anywhere near these insects!!!
Im an undergrad who has taken over my school’s outreach collection, and this is my first time trying to rear jungle nymphs from eggs. Do you have any extra tips on making sure the eggs hatch well? Its been difficult to find any information online
There are a few things to consider: 1. Get the temperature range right - an airing cupboard is ideal because it keeps the temp. consistent. 2. Never let the eggs dry out - too much ventilation on the egg tub is definitely to be avoided (think tiny pin prick holes - perhaps only a dozen on a margarine size tub). NOT mesh over the whole lid! 3. Avoid mould at all costs - laying the eggs on or in just slightly damp sand is good. The sand can also be sterilised first by heating in the oven. Eco Earth can also be a good medium - can also be heat in an oven & left to cool first. 4. Avoid using soil as it can contain much organic material that may break down & mould over time. The eggs take ages to hatch so patience is also a factor - a clear tub is better so you can see conditions & when they have hatched rather than keep disturbing them to open the tub all the time. 5. Also avoid wet conditions damp is perfect - think if you soaked a piece of kitchen paper then hand squeezed the water out - what you are left with is at the right level of dampness. I hope that helps - best of luck! I am also keeping Giant-Hooded Katydids at the moment - I hadn't kept them before & they are amazing. They can be kept identically to Jungle Nymphs! I have literally just posted a video on them so check it out & see what you think if you get a chance - similar size & impressiveness to Jungle Nymphs. Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
Very childish 😅😅😅
I don't know what you mean! Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
Why wouldn't you pitch this to Matel?
Hi, thanks for your comment! It would be a nice dream - I don't think toy-lines happen that easily - I think there are months, if not years of planning involved! Glad you like them, anyway... Check out my other creature sculpts if you get a chance - most are from movies. Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
For insects, they are really pretty. But I'm still very squeamish 😱
What a nice home they'll have!
You might not want them crawling on your face, agreed, but getting a close-up look at them is great. All those insect parts way more visible due to the sheer size of these creatures!!!
great memories !!!
Hi, thanks for your comment! Check out my other 80s toy videos if you get a chance - we probably had a lot of the same ones! Also, I have collected back key-rings, badges, magnets, pencil tops, erasers, cereal stickers etc etc - bound to be loads that take you right back! Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
I remember these in the 70s. I'm looking for puzzles they had similar to these
Hi, thanks for your comment! I don't remember ever seeing any puzzles while I was searching for the stickers - but anything related to these would surely be a cool product! Check out my other collectable stickers etc etc etc if you get a chance & best of luck tracking down what you are looking for! Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
I never saw these anywhere as a kid in the USA, until I went to Disneyland. Never seen them for sale since, only had the one I got at Disney. It had that rotating sphere with the male and female pilots inside but it was all white instead of yellow. These aren't quite StarCom level but still pretty nice.
Hi, thanks for your comment! Yes, they were pretty basic but I like the shapes of them. I came to them because I bought some of the aliens as a kid - later in life I remembered them vividly but didn't know what they were called! I had lots of Britains animals as a kid too, so when I was searching for those, the aliens inevitably came up & I was so happy when I finally found them. Especially because they can still be bought pretty cheaply. The Muteron & Master set is particularly cool looking too. Check out my other 80s toy videos if you get a chance - we probably had a lot of the same figures etc! Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
Hey cute, is the penis small or huge when extended? I love turtles, good video
Hi, thanks for the comment! I think just as you see it in the video - I can't imagine it would get much bigger during actual mating! Check out my other reptile videos if you get a chance. I keep Armadillos too. Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
do they need water to drink like some scorpion from forest
I normally provide them with a very shallow dish with spring water saturating a flat piece of coarse sponge. That would prevent any accidental drowning. I have never seen one actually drinking from it - but I provide it just in case. Also, just because I haven't seen them, doesn't mean they are not drinking at night while I am asleep! Personally though, I have a feeling that if they are looking fat & well fed, they probably get all the moisture they need from their food. I read they can gorge themselves with food & then go for weeks or even a couple of months without eating again. Hope that helps - check out my other videos if you get a chance. Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
Funny, the early stage looks like the professor from "Nightmare before Christmas" 🙂
Hi, thanks for your comment! I see what you mean! I made Dr. Finkelstein - check out that video if you get a chance - he was a fiddly one to build. Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
As much, as I admire your work, this has to be one of the most iconic creatures showing star wars' decline and should just be forgotten. Always hated the "Special (Nonsense) Editions".
Hi, thanks for your comment! I totally agree with you - hated that he was added in with CGI when everything else had been puppets & hand made costumes. The thing is though - I CGI aside & silly singing aside, I just really like the design/shape of him - I think he looks great as a creature in his own right. That is why I even have mixed feeling about Jar-Jar Binks!!! Same reasons - his voice & character annoy me a great deal - yet I like the design of him & do think he looks good as a Star Wars 'Figure'. Anyway, I just like weirdly shaped creatures - also the reason why I can put up with some truly pretty awful movies if I love the creatures in them - for example, I saw a movie called 'Laserblast' with creatures named Alien Turtloids - loved the shape of them & the Harry Hauson style animation & their names - I am even thinking of making one in the near future - even though the movie was hard to watch! Thanks again for watching!!!
Leon, do you have thick hollow walls or do you live on an estate with lots of storage? Do you play with them or do you revere them like a collector? See you soon!
Hi Liz, I am just good at racking & stacking. No I don't play with them, just get them out to admire them from time to time!!!
Great informative videos 😊
Hi, thanks for your comment - that is very kind of you! Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
Lovely meeting Ms Starship trooper tonight. Right, the form works from a laptop, no Microsoft account needed, so I have updated my page for what it's worth 👍
Thanks Liz - that's one student down, 60 or 70 to go!
How many eggs on average does a female lay? Do we know if a high percentage reach adulthood in captivity? Thanks!
Hi, thanks for your comment! Mine laid in such a huge tub of soil & the eggs are very well hidden. There was no way to count them as they are also delicate & searching through the heavy soil could certainly squash some without a great deal of care. Furthermore, it would be hard to tell if she had laid all she was going to before she died. This is such a beautiful species that people need to try to captive breed them whenever they can. More information is also needed on how to rear the babies successfully as they are also very delicate. Best of luck if you have some or are looking to get some. Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
Very good bargain indeed! Usually it would go up for 10 times the price on ebay and places such
Hi, thanks for your comment! Yes, I don't think I'll get another bargain like that for a while (apart from getting a Tamiya Willy's Wheeler Honda City Turbo for next to nothing at the same car boot sale on another occasion - if I remember correctly I think I paid £20 or £25)! Check out the video I did on that if you get a chance. Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
The glow cyber slop at 9:00 isn’t from bug strike but instead is an exclusive figure from one of the time wars playset. Another thing to mention is that the purple trash head is also an exclusive figure but from one of the putrid power play sets. But at the end of the day it really doesn’t matter how you display them
Hi, thanks for your comment - that is really useful to know! You can tell I am more of a collector of 80s toys! I did get a bit confused working out which one was from which series - I think I even saw some card backs that were saying different things. I considered trying to collect the trash pack figures but there are so many & with variations of colour - I thought it might get quite time consuming & expensive. These larger figures are great & I have enjoyed getting a collection of them together - I only have two more to get now - silver Dodgey Donut & Spewy Loo! Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
@ I think you still need to get the wrestler version of trash head too
@@6.ivual.m3 Hi, no I managed to get that one, since this video, with his Trashie - I still have a few weapons to get but I will get them slowly but surely!
@ ah my mistake, seems like your collection is closer to completion completion than I thought
love it Leon, was a good b film too,,where do you keep all these gems!!you must live in a hanger!
Hmm, a hanger - that sounds like a good idea!!!
Lovely meeting Ms Starship trooper tonight. Right, the form work from a laptop, no Microsoft account needed, so I have updated my page for what it's worth 👍
I had most of thes in the 80's ... My parents kept them, My dad has dementia, clering his house I found a bunch of them, broken, but they kept them ... LOVED these ... possibly my favourite toy of the 80's ...
Hi, thanks for your comment! They were so unique as a kit concept - any toy from back then which allowed a kid to follow visual building instructions at various angles/positions must surely have given them better spacial awareness & observational skills. I think they helped my artistic ability to draw & sculpt & to visualise objects & turn them in my mind! Lego & Meccano were the other obvious examples. Check out my other 80s toy videos if you get a chance - I have collected back most of what I had in the 80s (not sure why - but it is great to be able to hold them & be transported straight back to my childhood)! There are bound to be lots of other toy-lines we both had examples from. Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
You meant good Milo Leon!,superb work as per usual,
Thanks Ian! Glad you like him - he was another one who was great fun to make!!!
Hello my friend
Hello - thanks again for watching!
Fuzzy Felt Farm....now, it seems soooo simple, but I absolutely loved it !
Yoooo these are awesome! You did such a good job, dude! I think Not Nice Slice is my favorite.
Hi, thanks for your kind comment! I'm glad you liked my cake best - most have preferred the T-Bone steak so far, so I am glad to see a different one appreciated too! Check out my other sculpts if you get a chance, most are movie-creature makes & I'm sure you will know a lot of them. Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
Could have added the blood
Hi, thanks for your comment! I actually made this one for part of my wife's 40th Birthday present - if I had made it for myself I would certainly have added lots of blood! If you have seen any of my other creatures that I have made from movies, you will notice that I love a bit of gore! I recently did a Chest-burster from Alien & that is covered in 'directional' blood trails & spatters. Check out some of them if you get a chance - Audrey 2 was one of my first ever movie creatures - I like to think I have improved a bit since then! Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated!!!
@@LeonCreatorwithLeonHills How about making another audrey 2 but add the blood
@@chelsiirvine8970 That is a possibility for the future - I would like to make one that is way more closely matched to the one in the Little Shop of Horrors movie. I do have a list of movie creatures that I am gradually working through first though! Thanks again for watching my channel!!!
Hey what is the best way to get up with you, was curious if you do commissions
great posse Leon, abit tim burton esque
Yes, I know what you mean - I love Tim Burton's characters too. I did make Doctor Finkelstein from Nightmare Before Christmas & I would love to make lots more characters from that movie as well as from Frankenweenie etc etc!
I was just sorting through some of the small samples from the beach that the waves had already rounded. I noticed the labradorescent blue flashes when I made them wet. The rocks that looks like labradorite is Larvikite I think, which didn’t have the sodalite glow inside.
Hi, thanks - it is great to have a name for the rocks that I said were labradorite-like. Yes, there is a lot of water-worn specimens that can be easily collected on the beach - I collected a whole bag full & struggled back to our house with it before trying the UV torch & realising only a single piece glowed/contained the sodalite! I remember wondering if the 'Larvikite' material had been dumped on the beach as waste material from an industrial company making kitchen worktops or something similar as I have seen that kind of rock or similar used in many kitchens!
Wow this is amazing! How did you get the carrier bags into shape before you taped it all up? Im planning on trying to make a smaller version of him for one of my table centrepieces at my wedding 😊
Hi, thanks for your comment! It would be so cool to have a Slimer at your wedding! The sellotape is the way you shape the carrier bags - bunch them together to get a VERY rough shape & then use the tape either pulled loosely, or tightly depending on whether you need his form to stay wide or get narrower. Tape is so strong when layered up - it really helps get the form. You may use quite a bit but it is worth it - I used parcel tape for a build recently (my Egg from Alien) & that worked even better. Best of luck with him & hope your wedding goes great! Thanks for watching my channel - it is TRULY Appreciated & so glad one of my videos has inspired you in such a cool way!!!
@LeonCreatorwithLeonHills Thank you so much that's really helpful, I'll go on the hunt in the house for some packing tape 😅 honestly it was really cool watching your slimer come together and the way you explained it made it really easy to follow, have a great day!
@@Jamie-kz5ey You too & best of luck with your Slimer & your wedding!!!
