Hi! My name's Ellie and I started teaching myself gymnastics when I was 14 and documenting my progress via TH-cam! Now, I’m focusing a lot on hand balancing and gaining strength. Welcome to the channel!
Starting Gymnastics Late | My Progress
In my opinion, you're never too old to start gymnastics! I began teaching myself gymnastics at the age of 14, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made!

Long time no upload, but back with an exciting update! Here is my progress from a couple open gym sessions. As you can see, I've lost some skills, but I got back my back walkover and aerial (though my form is... interesting).

I’m also teaching myself gymnastics, I’m 15 tho! ur progress looks amazing! keep up the epic work
@@meowwmylaa thanks so much! I started around that age! Never too late to begin! Do you have a favorite skill so far?
🎉🎉🎉
Hi
Omg yes go girl! Also I have been trying to get my aerial for so long do you have any tips.???
@@Tianahoang2059 I’d say that doing a really good warm up before actually helps, like a short jog or some high knees/high kicks. For some reason this makes my legs looser and more flexible! You could try on a trampoline but if you don’t have access to one (which I didn’t), try on a downhill. Definitely give yourself a running start and jump high!! I haven’t done a tutorial yet but I have a video on my channel that shows my progression from like a round off to an aerial! Id currently love to get mine back again :)
@@foreverinhandstand9456thank you so much, I will definitely try your tips❤
So cool ❤
Amazing ❤ Hii I'm a self taught gymnast too
@@ElishaAcrogymnast that so awesome!! Will sub!
@@foreverinhandstand9456 thank you ❤️ I subbed to ur channel to ❤️
I can do an aerial on my air track not the floor tho 😅 an air track is a inflatable tumble mat
Bro, don’t even know how to do a handstand💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭
Thank you so much! The tips of having the backbend as small as possible, running the legs up and down for momentum, and practicing split handstands are all so useful. My main fear is that my good leg will go to the side, rather than backwards. Thank you for posting!!! 💜💜💜
Thanks so much, and glad to hear! My good leg often goes out to the side with my back walkover. Maybe try with a spotter to help guide your leg back. trying on a downhill might help, too!
@@foreverinhandstand9456 I really appreciate it!!! Yes that is a great point about using an incline and a spotter.
Wow, did you learn as an adult? I am trying to now as a 35 yr old. Some days I can do a backbend kickover off the ground, some days I can't.
Yeah! I learned when I was 17/18 I think. I've since lost the skill. Kinda got it back at an adult gymnastics class, only to lose it again. My kick-over is a bit hit or miss now!
Thanks it helped me to do a back kickover
I will give up 😂

TYSM this helped me i can already go halfway but then im stuck and go back. any tips?

Im so glad your posting agian
Hoping to post more this summer!
This video is a prime example of " never give up " U dept going great job u did great!
THANK YOUU OMG I FINALLY DID IT😳❤ I HAVE NO MATES AND I DID THIS EASILY AND I DONT GO TO GYMNAST I PRACTICED ON WALL AND COACH THEN ON THE FLOOR😊💗 TY sm <3
Keep your head up and lift more with your shoulders, do a low hurdle to get more momentum
You just gained a new follower and I got my bridge kickover!!!
i’m about to do it but at the start , i can’t keep my hands i put them for less than a second and than like an aerial ! any tips how to keep my hands up ?
I know im late but here is a tip, only put your hands down in the middle, and lift them before you land, that way you will trust yourself because you aren’t trying to keep your hands up for as long as possible
Do you still wear socks with your converse or not??
Yes! I wear a lighter, shorter sock!
Very very nice
how long did it take you?:)
I'd say it took me about a month!
ah welldone, lovely seeing the progress! im going to make a vid of my progress too, currently can only do this 20% of the time, maybe i need to increase my flexibility
So inspiring
Wait would you recommend wearing converse without socks if I did it
I first thought you had no socks and they would stink then, and please try sandals too and flats
Inspiration!
How long did it take you to get the skill?
Sadly I've lost this skill, but I remember it took me about 3 months to get, though I wasn't practicing consistently every day... the first clip (my first ever one) was July 2017. I think I started practicing around April/May 2017, just jumping into them and practicing handstand holds, and then gradually I got stronger.
@@foreverinhandstand9456 okay thank you! At the moment I am trying to get this skill. Although, I’m not quite as strong just yet.
Awesome job!!! 👏🏽😁, may I ask how long it took you to get your aerial? 🤔
Thank you! I think I started working on it in Spring of 2018. I probably got it in a month, but I needed a HUGE running start and didn't have the technique down. Then I lost it but got it back March 2019. I was able to keep it for a few months that time haha because my technique was a bit better, but I kept lose/gaining it. Also, cool profile picture btw!! :)
@@foreverinhandstand9456 Awesome!!! Because I’m currently working on getting my aerial aswell atm, haven’t been training every single day but, only when I have free time (which I get quite regularly), but it’s been 7 training days in total for me so far, it’s been on and off!! 👍🏻😁 Thank you so much btw!!! 👍🏻😁
@@shaniaemilyshannysamuels2414 I wish you the best of luck! I'm hoping to get mine back again this spring! would love to know how yours goes :)
@@foreverinhandstand9456 Thank you so much, you too!!! 👍🏻😊
I got my standing side aerial by accident i just tried and i landed it easily
Woohoo! Best feelings right there!! Congrats, and have fun :)
Hey! I really hope you see this. So I have been looking for activewear to be able to wear when I am doing gymnastics in places like the park, but I cant find anything good. Do you have any ideas?
Hello! Sorry for my very delayed response... I like Target, Old Navy, and sometimes the Gap Factory for pairs of shorts, spandex, and shirts, as I don't have any leotards or anything. :) sometimes I'll wear and old pair of shorts that are comfortable, too. I hope this helps and I'm happy to help further!
@@foreverinhandstand9456 Thanks, this really helped :) Gl in your gymnastics journey!
@@candi3842 thank you! and you as well!! :)
I did not get my kick over yet but this video help me get close to getting it
What should I do to lift my hands and feet off the ground at the same time? So snap down.Like at 00:07. I can do this, but at the end of the movement, my hands and feet are on the ground at the same time. I can't finish the move by jumping.
This part is tough - I've tried learning a roundoff on my bad side/bad leg and I've definitely struggled with exactly what you've talked about. I don't honestly remember how I got my roundoff on my right leg (good leg) because I learned it a while ago, but I do have a few tips. If you have access to a trampoline you could totally try one on there and get that extra bounce. If not (and I didn't have one either) there are still other ways! Working on flexibility in your leg helps as well as just doing cartwheels on that leg. Don't turn too much during the skills (in other words, don't put your hands too far off to the side, try to plant them straight in front of you). Then work on releasing quickly. But to sum it up, I think a big part of it is actually leg flexibility and just repetition of fast cartwheels :) I hope this helps!
@@foreverinhandstand9456 thank u so much. But my legs are already flexible😅. Then i have to do the movement fast, that's the point. Is there any benefitin placing the two hands differently? Like that left hand↗️ right hand⬆️ ↗️⬆️Lol
Greetings...how many days a week did you train and did you warm up before working out the move?
It took me about 2 months to get my backbend kickover, but I wasn't training consistently everyday during that summer. Getting my back walkover after I got my kickover probably took less than a week. I did some warm up before (stretched by back) but nothing major! :)
Ouch your ankle but you actually did it!!! You can see your hand didn’t touch!
Woah i wonder when I'll do a backbend kickover...
you got it! I never thought I would ever get mine, it was so frustrating, but if you stick to it, I guarantee you will. I have a tutorial on my channel specifically about what I did to get mine and how I could've gotten mine quicker. :)
i love u so much pls uploaddddd
I know she definitely did do her aerial because sometimes it looks like you put your hand down but rlly you don’t I know because I got my aerial and sometimes when I filmed myself it looked like I put my hand down but I didn’t
Wow! This is AMAZING. I was inspired from this video and got my aerial!!! I watch this video almost every day to boost my confidence. ✨❤️🙌
aww thank you so much!!! that really means a lot! - your comment just made my day! Congrats on getting your aerial as well!!! I'm so happy that my video inspired you, that's really so awesome to hear! :)

Another upload coming soon???? Hoping for a summer update???
hoping I can make a video (gymnastics most likely!) soon now since school is over! :) stay tuned!
I got my backbend kickover and heres a few tips: Number 1: Scoot ur hands closer to you're feet that way it's easier to kickover! Number 2: you can try rocking back and forth Number 3: use a couch or a ottoman to kick off of Number 4: or ask a person to spot u! Then once u get used to it ask the spotter to spot u light like dont let the spotter do all the work! These are tips I used so I can do my backbend kickover! :D
Thank you for these great tips! I wish I had learned number 1 sooner, because I would've gotten it sooner, so I 100% agree! I also love tips 2,3,4! Congrats on getting your backbend kicker and will definitely keep these tips in mind when teaching others and working on perfecting mine. :)
@@foreverinhandstand9456 tysm! And good job for getting ur backbend kickover! :D
Is there a tip for Not get scared to broke a neck😮💨😭
Luv it that’s how I got mine
Hi !! This is the only vid I can find where you can comment. I just wanted to say that it is outstanding that you learned how to do a ariel before a back walkover. Though getting over the fear of going backwards like a back walkover is scary and harsh, an ariel is much harder for most people! Congratulations and I think it would be cool if you could commit to trying to do a back handspring / back handspring step out. They are rlly fun to and you will get used to them. :)
thank you so much for your nice comment!! I was definitely surprised as well that I got an aerial even before my kickover (which took me so so long to get it was so frustrating haha!). After learning the back walkover, my dream has been a back handspring - I think that would be so cool to be able to do. Thank you for the encouragement - this really helped.
I finally got my back bend and am now trying a back walkover :)
congrats!! you can do it! I made a tutorial on my channel in addition to this vid, and there are some other helpful tutorials to check out on TH-cam! :)
Thank you!!
I have just learnt this by myself last month, I try it first with elbows. I practice every night and finally I did it!!!!!!!!!!
I keep training my foot strengh with single leg squats. I have a tip that I just found out last week, it is that you should look up your head when you do it, it's much easier!
congratulations!!! that's awesome!!! that's actually a great idea to try it with elbows! It really is an exciting feeling to kick over for the first time and land on your feet. :)
@@yeekam8317 thank you for the tip! :) I will try this when I'm attempting kickovers again (only have done 1 this year, but want to make sure my form is good!).
@@foreverinhandstand9456 thx
