Im watching so much top surgery and recovery video its slowly getting clear in my mind that I need to do the administrative/medical work to get access to rop surgery. In a year or two I'll have some operation date I hope.

This cosplay turned out so well! I know you have your big gripes, but considering those, this turned out really well! I think you're correct with the sleeves needing to be Lycra. I was trouble-shooting non-stretch ideas in my head, about bias (as u mentioned) and about shaping the sleeve. There's the method of cutting the sleeve pre-bent at the elbow and/or putting a dart in the elbow and damn the accuracy. The pin tucks also probably didn't help with any stretch you could have had with the sleeve, but alas we must suffer for our art. The dress is probably polyester, hence the complete lack of bleaching. I could be wrong, this just lines up with my personal experience. Re: the fit in the back, I know the illustration didn't have seams in the back but visual artists often don't think about seams that aren't decorative or don't add to the story of a character, so we as costumers have to re-engineer clothes to fit human bodies. You do you tho, sewing is made up and the points don't matter. I think the snap closures look good even from the side, you put them on so well that it looks natural.

If the shoulder part still bothers you, you should be able to add a piece of fabric under the armpits so that you can still raise your arms okay! I know there's a word for it but I am not savvy with the vocab for this kinda stuff

I'm really glad I haven't quite finalised my cosplay plans for next year because this really changed my mindset. You're right. I *do* need to be this character for this very specific event or I will be sad, and I will gladly sacrifice aspects of quality if it means I can get that experience. Because actually living in that costume and hanging out with people making memories... that will stay with you far longer than any costume, irregardless of how long you worked on it or how good the materials are. Always learning something new here :)
