Visiting All 3 Meta Offices in NYC (i don’t work for Meta lol)
Let’s go visit all 3 Meta offices in NYC! Disclaimer - I do NOT work for Meta! I’m just visiting my incredibly smart brother who does! We went to 770, Hudson Yards, and Farley (I really hope I referred to them correctly…). They were all amazing, but if I had to rank them, I’d say Farley then 770 then Hudson Yards, purely based on vibes lol. This was a super fun experience, and it made me really realize that working at Meta = a lot of free food! Hope you enjoy the vlog! :)

Hey Steph, great video. It's nice that you share both the ups and downs of the experience. You'll do great in this field! I'm a software engineer that didn't come from a CS background. I've been working for 8.5 years now. Here's my unsolicited advice: - Applying to jobs is a skill, just like DS&A, STAR questions and coding, the more you do it, the better you'll get at it - Try to bulk your most desired jobs at the end of your applications so that you interview there when you've had a lot of practice - Being in job search mode is like a full time job, so take care of your mental and physical health. you can't make a pot of water boil faster, so while waiting, take lunch breaks, go for walks, play a sport, spend time with friends - Even experienced engineers are going through a tough grind right now, so you'll also be competing with people who down level, but don't let this defeat you. A lot of companies will prefer a fresh grad or a junior because they can invest into you and avoid inheriting bad habits - Remember you're also interviewing them, so be confident and ask questions about why THEY deserve you. Companies are getting 1000's of applications, but only 10-20 of them are actually good people, so when they narrow down to you, they still want you over everyone else, don't let yourself get treated like dirt - Don't be afraid to apply to stuff you don't directly qualify for, if you can code, you can learn to code in another language, plus job descriptions are notorious for being inaccurate - Contracts can lead to FTE opportunities, so when you get a contract, just remember that the company would prefer to hire from their contractor pool to save time and money, put your best foot forward. One of my jobs was a contract that didn't want me to leave if I got an FTE offer so I had an internal interview (no white boarding) and got a full time offer from them. Some companies do this a lot, like Walmart and Apple - Make Leetcode part of your ongoing study habit even after you get a job. You don't want to "need" time to prep for an interview if you suddenly get laid off - Don't worry about what other people are doing... It's toxic, doom scrolling type of behavior to get caught up in other peoples' success. - Don't celebrate too much when you get a job offer... Keep it close to the chest until you know for sure it's working out. Some people have had their offers rescinded, some people don't make it past their probation period. If people ask, share, but otherwise just focus on you. Congrats Steph! Hope the job is working out! And keep up the videos, subscribed!

I got lucky because I was quick. I got a job from my internship. Luckily I focused on school because they first got interested because of my high GPA, then there were interviews, some pre exercises to see if can I learn new stuff/figure things out and present it. I tried my best and imo did well. I think my personality and genuine interest helped too (even though I'm socially anxious as hell LOL). That was stressful but I'm really happy I got in. The working community is nice and the things I learned in school are put into proper use now. I feel like I know enough to learn comfortably now, instead of struggling constantly. I started almost from a zero in 2020 (I knew only some basic js, html and css) so if I can do it, so can you. This year has been tough for many my peers. I wish you good luck! Edit: I just finished the video! I spoke too quickly. I'm so happy for you! Congratulations 😭🎉💞 Hard work payed off
