2024 Sentimental Journey
This year a friend of mine and I were able to make it to Sentimental Journey at Lock Haven, PA (where my Pacer was built in 1960). I had planned to camp for two nights, but the attendance was not that large this year. I think it was because of the heat, it was really hot, so I stayed only for one night.

I love this video! Did you take a golf cart ride to the Piper Aviation Museum? I'm an employee there. We had our air conditioning really cranked up! Did you see the C54? Those guys were truly amazing! They wore their purple jumpsuits in that heat the whole time. I opened the gates and even drove the tug at one point as my rear end fried on the seat while another fellow drove the stairs over to the side hatch. The C54 is still here in the museum lot.

Cole Aviation, "How to build a wing Rotator". I built two. One for the wing attachment and one for the wing root. I made only a few modifications. Mainly, made the outer base supports 15" with using 3" rollers, and placed them 3" inches down from the top of the up-rights and top of the roller wheel. (wheels from Harbor Freight). Went to a metal fabrication shop to make the 6' hoops in 1" square tubing. Cost me about $250 dollars in all to build two rotators. Much cheater than Wag's. Came out great!

Bad place to put the wire. Ask yourself, in home wiring why do they use box connectors? The answer is that a wire should never pass a sharp surface, else there is potential for a short. Why is it that cars have wire harnesses containing several wires housed in a flexible plastic tube? To prevent fraying on sharp surfaces. So how much movement and flexing is there in a common wing construction while it is in flight? You have wire tied these wires to several ribs, something that was not there in the original construction. Yes they will fray. It may take years but that's what is going to happen. I'm thinking it would have been better to shield them in a tight approved binding tape for that purpose. You'd have to pull out the FAA manual for that update and I don't have that info. I'm in Canada. If ties are used understand that not all ties last as plastics are subject to deterioration much faster. So it must be approved, and I would be inclined to think that some kind of a long lasting vinyl grommet would suffice.
