I agree. Single or couple, I believe personal comfort to be the best and having such a small space can cause clastrophobia. To each their own but having lived in an exec hdb flat my whole life, being in a 2-room flat honestly made it suffocating and it’s also really hot…. Will consider a 3-room as ideal perhaps
Thank you for this, especially when I'm thinking of right sizing from a 4 room to a probably 3 room bto or a resale unit which is usually bigger than bro's any day. Even with the 99-yr lease.
"Thanks for your comment! I'm glad the video was helpful. It sounds like you're in the process of evaluating your next move, and I totally get how 'right-sizing' can be a tricky decision. The 99-year lease is definitely something to consider, but as you mentioned, having more space and flexibility in your living environment might be worth it in the long run. Wishing you all the best in finding the right home that fits your needs-it's all about balancing space, lifestyle, and budget.
255 cm celling to floor is normal. I staying in my parent 5 room flat built in 2000 is also the same. 255cm
Thanks for sharing your perspective! It's true that some flats, like your parent’s 5-room flat, also have a ceiling height of 255cm, which is pretty common in older developments. However, in the context of a 2-room BTO flat, many find that the lower ceiling height feels more cramped due to the smaller floor area. It can impact the overall sense of space and comfort, especially if you're someone who values a more open and airy living environment. That said, everyone's preferences are different, and it's great to hear your experience with your flat.
If I had to get 1 of these chicken cage, I’ll migrate.
Thanks for your comment! 😅 I totally get where you're coming from-living in a small space like that can feel pretty cramped, especially if you value space and freedom. Of course, everyone's situation and preferences are different. Some people make it work, while others might prefer to look for bigger options. Migration might be the solution for some, but for others, it's about making the most of what they have! 😬 What’s your ideal living situation if you could choose? Would love to hear your thoughts!
SPH put satellites in orbit so that media offenders can use them to see through walls of any building in Singapore, and they can electromagnetically zap the bodily functions of anybody anywhere. These electromagnetic radiation can trigger all reactions in the body, including disease symptoms and pain, and the offenders are using these satellites to torture me and keep me under constant surveillance to play their "white teeth", "use the hands" game. I can hear some walking noises, and even some knockong noises.

Hi hi Singles-Small is ok Have your own private place & simple lifestyles no regrets Afterwork all are tired, don't stress yourself so much unnecessary cleaning up Take care, relax & enjoy yourself instead 😊
Thanks for your comment! I totally understand the appeal of a cozy space, especially for singles. It’s great that you find joy in a simpler lifestyle! I just wanted to highlight some challenges that might come with smaller units, but I appreciate your perspective. Enjoying life and finding what works for you is what matters most. Take care! 😊
Even is a tiny flat which is always better than renting a small room. For a single person like me. This 2 room BTO is consider spacious room to me.😅 Flats are getting more and more expensive 😮.
Hi! I completely understand where you’re coming from. For many singles, having a 2-room BTO can feel like a great option compared to renting a small room. It’s all about perspective and finding what works best for you, especially with rising prices. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 😊
Scandinavia
Thanks for sharing! Scandinavian design is so beautiful with its clean lines and cozy feel.
I love the rustic vibe ...
Great choice!
Disagree with you, i stay in 2 room , feel very spacious
Thank you for sharing your perspective! It’s great to hear that you find your 2-room flat spacious. Everyone's experience can vary based on layout and personal touches. Wishing you continued enjoyment in your home!
I downsized to a 2 room best decision ever easy to clean plus it's really cozy i don't have to walk 10m to the kitchen. It forced to declutter and live simply.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Downsizing can definitely lead to a simpler, more manageable lifestyle. It’s great to hear that you find your 2-room flat cozy and easy to clean. Decluttering can be such a refreshing process, and having everything within reach sounds convenient! Wishing you continued enjoyment in your cozy space!
Minimalist 💞
Minimalism is fantastic! It creates such a calm and uncluttered environment.
In contrast what was mentioned, I find it a haven living at my 2 room bto at bukit batok west Ave 8. Super windy though from 6th floor. Nice built in features for package A,B,C. So happy I found my dream home. No negative aspects I can find but be very thankful to the Lord time after time. A blessed dream 🏡🏠🎉❤
Thank you for sharing your positive experience! It’s wonderful to hear that you’ve found your dream home in your 2-room BTO at Bukit Batok West Ave 8. The wind at that height must be refreshing! It’s great that you appreciate the built-in features and feel so blessed. Everyone’s living situation is different, and it’s always uplifting to hear about happy stories like yours. Wishing you many more joyful moments in your new home!
You said height from floor to ceiling is 2.55m. But this is STANDARD whether it's 2, 3, 4, 5 room flats. No choice, for singles, HDB allows 2 room only; unless you buy resale. As you know SG is a small country. On the positive side, well if you look at the houses offered by our HDB compared to houses in say Hong Kong or some other countries, we are actually considered fortunate. Everything has pros and cons. Hope you do find happiness nevertheless, in living your house.
Thank you for your comment! I appreciate your perspective and understand that every living situation has its pros and cons. My aim with the video was to highlight specific challenges that potential buyers might face when considering a tiny BTO 2 Room Flat. While the ceiling height is indeed standard across different flat types, it can still feel limiting in smaller spaces, especially for those used to larger homes. It’s great to hear that you see the positives in HDB living compared to other cities, and I agree that Singapore's housing options have their advantages. Ultimately, my goal is to encourage viewers to weigh their options carefully before making such an important decision. I believe discussing both the pros and cons helps everyone make more informed choices. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!
I just applied the bto oct intake. I feel more secure if you are able to afford your own house. These days the price are increasing and honestly not many singles can afford unless otherwise if you earn above 3.5k, i believe. It will be a luxury to have your very own house. At least staying alone will be fine i hoped :)
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It's great to hear that you’ve applied for a BTO-congratulations! I completely understand your perspective on the security that comes with owning a home, especially given the rising prices. For many singles, it can be a challenge to afford their own place, and it's important to weigh those factors when considering a purchase. I appreciate your positive outlook on staying alone, and I wish you the best in your housing journey! If you have any questions or thoughts about the process, feel free to share!
2 rm bto in prime location is a paradise…people are not stupid..
@@norman6499 Unfortunately my area is not prime location... I guess
Ya lor everything all increased prices mah! So expensive even for us Sporeans! Resale even worse! Until we die also cant finish paying unless u super rich ar!!!
True. But let's try to stay positive
For singles - a shoebox unit works fine. House chore is kept to under 30mins to clean the whole unit.
For me, i took about 1 hour 10 mins for cleaning
For any new flats in Tengah, better double-check your drainage to ensure these foreign workers didn't wash their cement into it. Once handover, you will have to engage workers to hack off the solid cement. Check for leak too... jealousy can make foreigners do of funny stuffs
Have a place to stay still complain, thank God you are not homeless or staying in coffin apartments like those in HK. Be grateful.
I am curious why you went for the 38sqm one when there was the 48sqm option. Although there is a price difference the 10sqm difference and the design of that unit makes more sense functionally
During my time, the HDB showroom shows the 38sqm as the only option having the sliding door option, while the 47sqm is the wooden door. I need to get the sliding door for this purpose: th-cam.com/video/giHd1fgqlKE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XfIPz1K5U0cKjMB8
2 ROOM BTO FLAT AFTER 5 YEAR CAN BE RENTED OUT ?
can ask your 3 panel sliding door can open and close through both left and right side? or just one sided open and close?
Yes can open both. See the shorts about the door here: th-cam.com/users/shortsBgxVWFC8mFo?si=1ENsJcmCb_jCYCAs
For Single is good enough.
I ever saw a TH-cam vid of a married couple getting BTO 2 Room flat.
2 room flats are ideal for singles who travel and stay abroad for weeks or months. It serves as a large personal hotel space when you're back for a few days.
With the Enhanced Grant, the 2 room flat is as good as only the cost of renovation. The savings from owning a small flat can be channeled to other long term plans. For those who have homes abroad, this small and cheap flat makes good sense. After all, you are spending most of your time working, holidaying, or living in your big house abroad. For singles who have downgraded from large flats,, this is the opportunity to retire early and indulge in your passion.
@@paulchuah1624 Yes true...it is really almost cost of renovation.
Spot on.
@@choonhockong8215 Thank you.
How much is your monthly utilities bill? Btw can you sell your unit and bid for another 2 rooms BTO 47 type 2?
Between $40 - $50 plus. As for your second question, i believe I can only buy resale.
You mean hot because there is no air or just your unit facing west sun? Do you use aircon? I'm getting mine I'm so concern about the air circulation if like you say hot 😬 also ceiling is low? How come?
Should have purchased 47sqm..is more spacious
it is really inhuman that our country has to build such small flat and go down the path of HK...there are unlimited space vertically, why do hdb have to go down the path of hk...
That's why now i feel i should get bigger units
That by definition is wear and tear. All can be done within in hrs time. You learning tho is something different. And by the looks of it you failed as landlord or tenant by not doing inspection and informing the correct people. By court standards it's neglect. So which are you the landlord or tenant.
Geez…seriously, to be enabled to owned yr own Shelter, is very good already! Even though the flat is small, I don’t mind actually ya!
If you have taken your grant for the current 2-room BTO, will you be charged resale levy if you buy a resale flat? If so, your profit margin will be quite low. It is also cheaper for many singles to buy 2-room BTO directly from HDB then tthrough resale market, unless your unit is "top dog" in the competitive market. Even if there is some profit, part of it will also be used to pay for the COV to the resale seller. You may then need to take up loan because it is near impossible to match sales price of your 2-room BTO with the hefty purchase price of 3-room flat in the resale market, unless it is situated in the most remote and distant part of Singapore. The government has also recently lowered the Loan Quantum by 5%, and you need to fork out more cash for the shortfall in the next flat purchase.. Don't get me started on the renovation cost of 3-room HDB, it is not cheap either. Once you reached 55yo, and if you do not meet the minimum retirement sum, , CPF may lock up your fund and you cannot use your CPF to service the mortgage loan. Best is to pay off all your loan before 55yo, and that means shorten your repayments period, which means increasing your monthly installments. A lot of cash considerations if you plan to upgrade. Alternate Option, if 38sqm layout is not ideal, then sell your 38sqm and buy a resale 48sqm 2-room BTO that meets your space and layout requirements. This option is good for those with limited budget and you still get a better 2-room home (nearly 1-1 in exchange value).
I also have that alternate option in mind - the 47 sqm option.
If you taken the gov grants ,you hv to pay back plus interest which many plp do not know
@@jasmainehum3335 The interest component is an outdated method HDB used to calculate resale levy in the past. Now HDB has already fixed the sum, which varies depending on the size of the resale apartment you are looking and the previous grant you took. You can use HDB website budget calculator to calculate the approximate resale levy you may be required to pay for buying a resale flat and it is pretty accurate most of the time. Having said that, the amount of resale levy is not low for an average person. Therefore, it is advised that first-time homebuyers commit to their first property correctly from the beginning in order to avoid needless resale levies to look for another flat again. If you require a larger home, set aside more money and find a pretty decent 3-room HDB if space is your main concerns and also first time home owner can tap on the sizeable govt grants if you stay near your parents.
@@jasmainehum3335 noted
@@nightowl4121hi U are very knowledgeable on HDB flats , let say my first flat is 2 room bto, can I sell after 5 yrs mop, then apply bto again or my option is only buy resale flats ?
Is good for Single who does not want to live with others.
Singles may also consider bigger space
@@hdbwithmic When get older, it's tiring to clean up a bigger house.
I love my 2 room Bto it is spacious and comfy. It depends on your layout and how you make use of space. Dark colours make the space smaller so I chose a very light grey-green and it opens up the space. The only setback is my kitchen faces neighbour's kitchen and the distance is just 1.5 bamboo pole length.
This 1.5 bamboo distance between you and your neighbour's kitchen is quite common in most BTO regardless of flat sizes. Sometime, it even faces someone toilet or the lift lobby where people can see you doing your work in the kitchem. Ideally, kitchen window should have the same facing as the living room window, and provided the view is unblocked.
Thank you for sharing the cost! 12k plus and beautifully done! I was really worried when i see some reno work for 2-room can go up to 38k..
I just collected my keys for my 38m2 2 room flat. Love the design (different from yours). Agree its tight, it actually deter me from cluttering. Need no renovation, as it comes with neat vinyl floor design and good colour sliding doors. Deco it with Balinese design (mostly preloved mint conditioned) and it looks so cozy and inviting now... All my friends love my place. Maybe you should consider not place individual furniture that doesnt match and take away that yellow walls -.-"
my ballot number is #1300 so i have no more choice for the bigger units. However, luckily its mid level and besides the beautiful sea and facing Coney Island. Unblocked view for living room and bedroom :)
Should show your place
Thank you for sharing. But it all money matter.. 😂
has been mentioned before, but it's Heaven for those of us that want privacy, also a great excuse to say to people they can't come over cause there's no space. I'm currently in a house shared with others, I hate every second of it and cleaning is a constant must.
true
Thanks for sharing and your catwalk measuring of floor space😂. May I ask, other than noise from next door neighbour, do you hear feet stomping noise from upstairs neighbour?
I do hear feet stomping noise from my neighbour upstairs besides drilling n hammering on n off very frequently .
Best is to try japanese concept. No bed no sofa..just buy the foldable mattress for ur room will do
The whole design is very dated, old fashioned.
noted
That's why most applications choose type 2 in the bto exercises for that extra 10sqm of space despite higher price
true
Its better to stay in a 2room bto than in a rental flat. Atleast u own the house. If u can only afford 2room bto then its still ok. Resale value of 2 room bto is high. U can upgrade to 3 or 4 room after mop
你嫌这个屋子小,但这个屋子的客厅幸好还有个财库位,可惜你把财库位给压住了。如果你能好好利用财库位,小屋子能变大屋子。
you deserve it since you chose it. why be such a bitch after 6 years?
Single person BTO when you reach elderly maybe you have to move out because cannot stay alone.
Maybe move to elderyl folks home lor
Wanna ask your opinion whether 7th floor out of highest 29th still technically considered mid floor?
