I love the way they slip out of their skins! Never tried soaking them in coffee though, do they taste much of it afterwards? Repetitious, rather aimless activity can be very soothing, to watch too. I don't find the stagnation starts till July or August, which seems like the kind of two o'clock longueur of the year, hot and tired and grumpy and pestered by bugs and squalling children. Though I'm painfully aware at this stage that I shouldn't wish any part of life away really. You can, though, what Nancy Mitford called aching, it's a privilege of youth. Beautiful video, as always.

Watching you, with your dip pens and film cameras, your Schubert earworm and escapes into 'Gaudy Night', drinking your oolong (and other teas I've never heard of), eating your boiled egg and yoghurt (I have to say I gasped 'no!' when I saw you sprinkle the dry tea onto it 😲), while berating yourself for forgetting your grandmother's Mandarin verbs, I am lost in wonder. And still you stop and make these beautiful films to entertain old bodies like me (and others, and yourself, of course!) Whenever I ask myself what has become of the world, I shall think of you, and say 'Bluetoadflax' is what, and it is enough. All the very best for the exams, and whatever comes afterwards.

Super underrated

This whole video was so exceptionally dreamy! ✨ I can so much relate to you when you speak about words. I used to write a lot as well, put words into sentences so eloquently. Nowadays I can't put two words together anymore, and I didn't think about it as much... but what you say makes sense. Perhaps the visual replaced the written. I hope I can build the bridge between the two at some point. Also your family moments look so heartwarming. It's a pleasure to see!

Interesting about your missing the words now your creativity has become visual. Throughout my life I've found the words and images come and go, sometimes more one than the other, sometimes, marvellously, together. At other times not even images, just making things with my hands. But never assume that any of it has deserted you, it's remarkable how it can suddenly come back. Beautiful ladies you are in your family!

Lovely hands at work ! I like oolong, though they're hard to come by here and seem to vary a lot. We get a nice one from Laos, once I made the mistake of buying a caramel flavoured one from a French supermarket, it was horrid🤢! I threw it away and kept the tin, but even that still smells funny.
