  • The ultimate handbook on how to stave off boredom? I don't think that's quite what you'll find here, but filming and making this randomest video entertained me, and I hope it entertains you. Off to slice pistachios finely now, yea or nay?

I love the way they slip out of their skins! Never tried soaking them in coffee though, do they taste much of it afterwards? Repetitious, rather aimless activity can be very soothing, to watch too.
I don't find the stagnation starts till July or August, which seems like the kind of two o'clock longueur of the year, hot and tired and grumpy and pestered by bugs and squalling children. Though I'm painfully aware at this stage that I shouldn't wish any part of life away really. You can, though, what Nancy Mitford called aching, it's a privilege of youth.
    Beautiful video, as always.

Alas no the almonds didn't taste like coffee, but the walnut I put in really did! It was a delight, discovering that combination; I don't know why I hadn't tried it before.
Just looked through the preview of Pursuit of Love, I like Nancy Mitford's wit! Thank you for mentioning her; now perhaps I'll have a book to carry me through the afternoons this week!

@@bluetoadflax2486 Coffee and walnut are a lovely combination, even people who don't like coffee and/or walnuts like coffee and walnut cake!
Pursuit of Love is probably my favourite (though I don't think that's where she talks about aching). I'm always hesitant to recommend books in case people don't like them. It's very English, not British, English, writing, of a certain kind and period; I find I get cravings to read her again from time to time.
