Ford Fusion 2002 -2012 Rear Wheel Bearing Replacement - Step by step.
Wheel bearing failed on my commuting car and lit the ABS light. Quick video on how to change the bearing step by step. If you don't have a press you can either press the bearing in using a vice or smack it in with a hammer, just make sure you're pressing against the outer housing and not the bearing race. Quick safety note, you should probably chuck an axle stand under the car. For the sake of one bolt I was happy with the wheel thrown under the sill, but if I'd have been venturing under the car or if the job got more involved I would have put a stand under.

Rusty Seized Solid Record Vise Restoration
มุมมอง 3.2Kปีที่แล้ว
Welcome back to another video! In this episode we're going to tackle an old Record model 00 vice, I've been looking out for a smaller vice for my tool box for a while and this popped up cheap and local so I snapped it up. This thing was seized solid, every screw and pin was also rusted to high hell! I wasn't going for a perfect finish with this one, after all it's going to be used on a regular ...
McCulloch HT5622 Hedge Trimmer Repair, No Start, Carburettor Rebuild
มุมมอง 2.7Kปีที่แล้ว
Welcome back to another, very long overdue video! This time we get a McCulloch HT5622 Hedge Trimmer back up and running! I'm pretty thorough when it comes to storing my two stroke stuff over Winter but it looks like there was still some fuel in the carb when I left this one, even though the tank was dry. No fuel was pulling through. Links to parts and specialist tools below. If you enjoyed this...
Picador Disc Sander Restoration Part 2: Vintage Rusty Motor Restoration and Full Rebuild
มุมมอง 12K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Welcome back to another video. This time we finish the Picador Disc Sander that was started in the last video. Taken a while to get back to this as I've been waiting for parts in the post! Started off with the motor restoration. This motor is an early Bull Motor out of the Ipswich factory. From the information I've found online the company stopped using this design and the brass fixings sometim...
Picador Disc Sander Restoration Part 1
มุมมอง 26K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Welcome back to another video! This time I'm restoring a Picador disc sander, that I snagged from ebay for peanuts. When I went to pick it up the owner told me it had been sat outside for quite some time, and I know that the area he lives in floods quite often so I wasn't expecting this one to be in great condition. After doing some research on this, I can't find any evidence of Picador ever se...
Destroyed Nippy Drill Vise Restoration
มุมมอง 86K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Welcome back to another video! This time I'm tackling an absolutely destroyed Nippy branded drill vice. This is quite an early model as one of the jaws had the remnants of the original makers stamp ( Jones & Shipman). The company was taken over by Record at some point but I think it was after this one was made, not 100% sure. I could have spent an eternity working on this piece to get it perfect...

Chuck Restoration here: th-cam.com/video/1IdK1TcjtKA/w-d-xo.html Welcome back to Part 2 of my Drill Press Restoration! I know it's taken a while, but I was waiting delivery of a few parts and then ended up having to pull an 80 hour week at work so didn't have time to finish off! Bit of background: I don't know much about where this drill came from originally, but I bought if for peanuts from a ...
Rusty Seized Solid Drill Press Restoration & Repair - Part 1 - Teardown and Electrical Repairs
มุมมอง 251K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Welcome back to another restoration! There's a hell of a lot of parts and a lot of repair work on this one so I've split it into two parts! Bit of background: I don't know much about where this drill came from originally, but I bought if for peanuts from a guy who was going to scrap it. He thought I was mad to buy it and swore it was broken beyond repair, sounded like a good challenge to me! St...

Makita Cordless Metal Saw - Repair - Full Teardown and Rebuild -Model DCS550
มุมมอง 10K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Woah! Modern tools? What the hell?!? Don't worry, it's not going to become a staple for the channel, but if I see a cordless makita tool I want going cheap for spares I'm going to grab it! I'm currently trying to improve my selection of woodworking power tools so when I saw this for £10 untested I jumped on it. I bought this from a guy who works on skip wagons, he'd seen it in the top of a skip...
Rusty Seized Ratchet Screwdriver Restoration - ER Varney A956 - Yankee style
มุมมอง 32K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I got this lovely old screwdriver in a job lot of engineering tools a good while back, tried opening it and couldn't so threw it in the 'to fix' pile. I was tidying my workshop the other day and saw it sat there, looking sorry for its self and decided it's time has come to be restored! After a bit of research this tool dates to some time around the 1950's, made in Sheffield UK by ER Varney Tool...
1950's Wolf 'Cub' Drill Restoration & Repair - Better than new?
มุมมอง 24K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Welcome back to another restoration, in this video I'm tackling a 1950's Wolf Cub Drill. This drill is tiny, but once I got it going again I was quite shocked by how powerful it is! In a change from my usual style I decided not to paint this in it's original colour, I really dislike the weird shade of 'mushroom' that it was out of the factory. Instead I decided to have a go at polishing it to a...
Vintage Jewellers Anvil Vise Restoration
มุมมอง 21K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Wait, where's the drill restoration? Don't worry it's coming soon, just awaiting a spare part to arrive and I can get it built back up :). In the meantime, I picked this little jewellers vice up a while back, really nice heavy little item, but not very well made! The casting marks were horrendous so they had to go and it needed a lot of flattening and squaring! I did contemplate welding the sma...
1960's Bench Grinder Repair & Restoration - Black & Decker
มุมมอง 44K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I bought this as spares or repair from a house clearance guy. He tried it out and it kept tripping the breakers in his house, looking at the state of the cable I'm not surprised! At first I was just going to give this a quick overhaul and get it running to help me out in restorations, but I decided to go the whole hog and give it a bare bones restoration. This model is from the early 1960's, I ...
Antique Vise Restoration - Rusty seized 1930s Parkinson Model F Vise
มุมมอง 76K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I bought this vice from someone who was selling up the contents of his deceased fathers joinery shop. It had been sat in a corner for many years and wouldn't open more than an inch. It had been in the guys family since the 1930's, belonging to his grandad first. I soaked it in WD40 and slowly started working it loose over a few days, and then I decided to make a video of the restoration so that...

Great video. I'm in the process of refurbishing my floor standing drill press. I have a question on the table lift mechanism/worm gear crank. The spur gear driven by the worm gear sits on an axle pin and float on it within the housing and can float about 7mm side to side in my unit and it appears to be the same on the unit you restored shown at about the 14:51 mark in the video. Is this the way it should be? Seems like there should be collars on either side to keep the spur gear centered on the shaft?

A job like this is so simple, and the bearing is cheap. It just kills me what a shop will charge for this; basically one hour or so and anyone can do it themselves. Thank you for providing the torque specs. Well edited and no fluff. Cheers.

Most jobs on suspension/steering are easy enough for diyers, it just depends on if you have the right tools available. Sometimes diagnosis can be a bit trickier too, I heard a slight grinding so I had a good idea which bearing had gone, but I would have had to hook it up to the laptop and have a drive while monitoring the speed sensors if I hadn’t heard it, bit more involved then. Thanks for watching! 👍

This press has worked like a charm for my projects th-cam.com/users/postUgkxajoEbapTfqWaadnqb04h6U576yxXp-FE . I didn't even secure it to my table top, mainly due to the fact that I was using a 15 lbs drill vise. It's not flimsy at all as to what others have claimed it to be. Make sure the locking nuts and levers are secured and there won't be any issues with light pressure and patience. I was able to drill through aluminum, plastic, and steel (steel took a while) with no problems at all. Yeah it took a little longer than a regular drill press, but I don't have the space OR the money for one.The instruction manual was worthless, but luckily assembling the press was intuitive. However, the manual would be good for ordering replacement parts if needed. There is a nice breakdown of the parts that are included in the kit. Before ordering, make sure it is compatible with your unit, it is clearly stated what models the press is compatible with. This was an excellent purchase for $40!!

I love this restoration! I am in the process of restoring some of my gramps engineering tools that I was lucky enough to inherit and a nippy vice is one of them. I struggled so hard separating the jaw from the threaded bar, in the end I heated it up until it almost glowed which done the trick, it was a last resort as I was petrified of bending the bar! Mine too has the makers mark on the jaw as well. Great work all the best Ryan

I'm just starting a restoration of an apparently identical drill, branded Clarke. Come to a stop because I can't get the nut on the top of the spindle drive to undo. It rotates but it looks as if the threads under the nut have stripped. May have to cut the nut but that will leave me with a spindle with stripped threads. 😞 Also the quill only goes down about 50mm before coming to a hard stop. (The depth stop on the quill appears to be free.) I was not keen on disassembling the spring cap but I guess you have showed me a way to stay safe!

BRILLIANT ! I have 3 of these exact drills, all from Car Boot sales, for a few pounds. They all work well and are so handy to have around with multiple attachments when doing work, needing more than one attachment. I think I'm going to give one the same treatment as you did - it looks FABULOUS ! Thanks for the 'tutorial', and I'm now a sub too. Thanks and take care 🙂

How apposite. I'm about 1/2 way through doing the exact same thing on an old Meddings 5 speed bench pillar drill donated to me by a late friend before he died. Same as you I use Citric acid for derusting stuff but I do everything I can using different sized polythene/ABS plastic storage boxes with the biggest I've used so far being a 50 litre box. I have used a 100 litre plastic drum though previously to electrolyse rust off a tow bar ... Worked a treat! Mine has no base, only a VERY substantial bottom collar. No table or rack/pinion lift and no motor. The latter has been resolved with a very nice 3/4 HP 3 phase motor that I acquired ages back for about £20 ... It's like new! I've bought a new 5 HP capable VFD that will drive it so bags of spare capacity so should run nice & cool. I have the main body all stripped down including removing the aluminium label and brass serial plate held on by spiral rivets! Ready and waiting for paint stripping. I use the same recipe for paint stripper as you ... Caustic soda, wallpaper paste and water ... Sadly I had to use Nitromors on the motor end caps of my lathe motor that I'm also refurbishing as they are aluminium! *CAUTION* to those unaware, concentrated liquid caustic soda is dangerous and will eat through human flesh AND aluminium and casting alloy faster than you can blink!! DO NOT USE IT ON OR NEAR ANY ALUMINIUM PARTS! Wear protective gear, especially face and hand protection. Keep white vinegar and/or citric acid handy to neutralise the alkali. Great job you did on that. I hope my final result is as good! 👍👍👍
