Surely the new Sony 300 f2.8 with converter beats this Canon mow, certainly in the weight?

We got r3 and 1dx mk 2the 1dx feels like a dinosaur compared….r3 is mega for macro…with focus stacking… but I have ordered r5 mkii… I’m hoping it is close to r3 low light but it won’t beat it… with a 2.8 lens on it’s fabulous

The prices on the premium EF L lenses have been dropping significantly as the RF lenses are released. I noticed that a minty EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM were around $1700 when this video dropped and now are around $1200. It is a great time to pick up the best EF L glass.

Hey, this is Goose with Dreadnought Photo Werkz. I personally have that lens, and I use it in conjunction with my Canon R3 camera, and it works absolutely flawlessly for indoor sports. Once again, using the adapter, I get the full 30 frames per second in full auto focus. To answer your question, it is still worth buying at this time.

I have the MK ii and use it with an EOS R3 and a 5DSR. Zero issues on the mirrorless and superb image quality. I have compared it to the MK i on the 5DSR and the MK ii is miles ahead wide open.

A fair assessment really. I have this mark ii and it’s my workhorse. I don’t remember it letting my down on all my crop 7D I, ii and now R7 bodies. The lens hood is great with the clicking action and appears more robust compared to the 100-400ii. Extenders compatibility is cool too for the odd 1.4x, but adapting makes the handling heavy imo.

I bought mine because I thought lenses held their value. But like you said mpb and keh don’t offer what they use to for this lens…? Really frustrating and confusing. I shot these photos with this lens on the Canon R5: th-cam.com/video/b5EvI9K2TCk/w-d-xo.html I love this lens though. I was only looking to sell to help my families financial situation.

I’ve always been scared of going for it for the fear of it being too heavy to handhold!! F/5.6 400mm is another of those versatile hand held lenses, which is the size and weight I’m used to

The 1DX mkII has a coprocessor design. The R6 does not. Even though the R6 has a better chip, there's no way it can compete with a camera designed for pros with a coprocessor to help manage the focusing algorithm. The R6 is slower because it can't decide on the focal length as fast as a camera designed for pros where you off-load focusing to a coprocessor. This would be like trying to compare the R3 and the R1 just because they have similar body shapes and sensors. As speculated by others, the pro-grade battery may be able to flow more amps to the focusing motor (essentially a design deficit built into the cell structure of smaller battery) but I've never read anything to confirm a lessor MAh release speed. I'm always glad to have the longer battery for duration but haven't seen proof of an increased flow of amps.

I'm rocking an RP right now but I want a 1Dx badly for 2 reasons: preserving a 1D and that clicky, mechanical burst rate.

I'm currently rocking a Nikon d2h. I've been looking into getting one of these cameras. Which ones would you recommend and not recommend?

In your opinion is there any loss of focus speed using a mirrorless body comparatively to a DLSR body body when coupled to this EF 500F4?

Great video Joe of my favorite lens! I shoot sports - this 300mm lens is so versatile and works wonderfully with the 1.4x tc (fast, accurate and sharp). I'll never give it up for anything! Paired with the R6 or 1DX its awesome and if I need more reach I go crop with the 7Dii or R7. This collection gives you 300 f2.8, 420 f4 or 480 f2.8

Cool. I have some EF lenses. My best one is the Tamron 24-70 f/2.8. I have it on my M6 mk II with a speedbooster,. I also have a mount adapter but I usually just use it for my EF-S 24mm f/2.8 (pancake).

I greatly appreciate the fact that you make these videos for those people who may not be able to afford the new RF equipment. I personally use a Canon RF100-300 F/2.8, but prior to that, I was using the Sigma 120-300 F/2.8 and for me it was a great lens in conjunction with my Canon camera. If you get a hold of that lens you should review it. Because I never owned the Canon 300 mm 2.8 and I can personally say from experience I would rather have that Sigma 120-300 mm f/2.8 versus than the Canon 300mm f/2.8. And that is the reason why I bought the Sigma in the first place.

Thanks for this! I need to replace a 120-400 and need something 400mm+, this with a teleconverter might be an option if the AF doesn't slow down too much, I shoot sports and want something from when I am shooting from a distance in a stadium. Always appreciate your videos!

I do sports and just ordered this today. I come up short on the soccer ⚽️ fields when the plays go down field and my cannon 100-400 L paired even with a 7D Mark II image was just not coming clean to my liking with the ISO being pushed. So hoping this makes a world of difference with my 1DX Mark II or the 7D Mark II because of the 1.6X crop factor and not using a teleconverter losing a fstop. With the crop factor saving a lot of money for the 600mm or 800mm. See in 2 weeks when the fall leagues start up.

I use the 1.4x III on my 500mm mkII. Very good results! Before i was using it on the 500mm mkI, it was not the most sharp combo. When needed I'll use the 2.0x III, but it makes the photos less sharp (soft).

I have this lens and love it. For outdoor sports it's a very good range. I had a 400mm f2.8 IS before this and thought the 2.8 was nice, but this is so much more versatile.

im thinking in buy one of these two lents for bird photos... what are your preferences ??
