I as well treat my husband like a full-grown adult instead of a mother. Sure, most of the work falls on me, but at least i don't have to waste that energy nagging him. I get to just be a girl-boss and do it all myself (bit a feminist btw). Much easier on me emotionally that way. If he wants to shape up, he can do it himself. She's absolutely correct that women shouldn't be mothers for their husbands. But alternatively, if the men acted like grownups, fewer women would feel the need to take on that role

This was excellent, guys. I’m a bit older, started listening to Allie and then came across this and interested in what your generation is saying. You’re on the mark! I learned the power of confession in my college days with a strong friend who was desperate to follow God and His Word. I was “discipling” her, but it quickly grew to a friendship of trust when she convinced me that confessing our struggles was the dealbreaker with deception and shame. We have remained friends for over 30 years because we learned there’s no shame in those friendships built around doing life in willful, loving obedience to Gods warnings and standards. Last thing, I like to describe lust as that mindset of taking our legitimate need in our own hands, refusing to trust God’s timing, we go get it for ourselves, and we don’t consider our worth or the other persons worth and value. It’s broken, and the world convinces any takers that is acceptable and everyone lives like this. Not TRUE. Living outside of lust’s power is joyous and beautiful. Gives you His eyes to value people as He does.

It’s not always a spirit. We are all sinful and we have to guard ourselves against those thoughts. We have to repent for things that we know are wrong, not just say it was a spirit and have no accountability. Sometimes it might be a spirit but it’s less scary when you realize we will have those thoughts and need Jesus and the Holy Spirit to guide us away from them.
