Hello👋🏼, my name is Cameron. I am currently a medical student in Hungary, originally from South Africa. My aim is to provide something of value in each and every video that could hopefully help at least one person out there. Whether it be with studies, communication, mindset and so much more. 4th Year of Medical School Completed - Summer Practice Up Next!
The fourth year of medical school was really challenging and draining but I made it out the other end. Two more years left and I’m done! It’s time to enjoy a much needed summer break but before that, a surgery practice in the vascular department stands in my way.

Do Not ONLY Study in Med School - From Experience
มุมมอง 1Kปีที่แล้ว
There is a lot of propaganda out there that alludes to the fact that medical students need to study their lives away in order to succeed. However, that is simply not the case. I personally noticed how overstudying and not prioritising both my work and myself, led to poor academic performance. It is all about finding the balance! #medical #medicalstudent #medicalcollege #university

I felt a bit in the dark before I made the move to Hungary so I’m hoping that this video can give people more of an insight into the country and a better idea of what to expect. #hungary

Hi I'm also South Africa and wanted to know how you applied, how you settled in and would you recommend it? Also how much do you spend per month?
Fantastic. I hope you do not believe in the disease called covid
English universities are top because rankings organizasations are Anglo-Saxon 😅
I want to study medicine in pecs through Stipend Hungarian Scholarship and my question is that Is English proficiency certificate from my college/ school enough to get admission or ielts or toefl compulsory???
Umm I'm confused over something please do guide me Should I prefer Semmelwies over Pécs? Is there a difference in subjects for medicine in different universities?
Could someone please tell me like roughly how much is the cost of living there
This is amazing
thank you very much for sharing.... it's really valuable I wish to know if u faced any language barrier and how is it like to communicate with people in general (like is it required to speak and learn in Hungarian)
Thank u Do a scound one , let's know if somethings changed this year !!
For the english programme in Medicine, do you need Hungarian for the clinical settings? Since you may have contact with Hungarian Patients that have no knowledge of any other language. Is this a huge problem? I do not wanna learn Hungarian😢

Hey, so you can’t go to a foreign country and not expect to be taught their language. How would you assimilate into society and for medicine you HAVE to know Hungarian because once you start clinicals how will you be able to communicate with patients in Hungary. Learning new languages is a bit challenging but it is very doable if you try.

Hey, do you know anyone who transferred to pecs university as international student, i am planning to do that next school year 🤞🏻
Hii can you make a video on entrance exam to get into university of pecs medical College and where held the exam
Hii..i want to do dentistry ( BDS)..can u please recommend me which univeristy is best?...university of debrecen or univeristy of pecs?
Wow
happy to hear that you can finally relax a bit, i would like to hear about your practice and summer break, and also what is the most effective way of studying for you, how you organize and how you do it during the semesters and at the exam period with maybe some tips that have worked for you or people you know.
I will try my best to put that out. Thanks for your support!
Bro how u found the perfect home ? It’s hard to get one like yours
Hey, sorry for the late reply. It is getting harder and harder to find places here that are at a good price but keep checking Facebook listings and talking to agents that you contact on those listings to see if you can figure something out.
Hi Cam. I’m a South African student and I would like to study in Hungary. What was your average in matric ?
Hey, I think I ended with an 84% average overall but I don’t think it plays a huge factor getting into Hungary as long as your average is respectable. If you have a good average and you do well in the entrance exam then you have a good chance (it is less competitive here).
wow, stupid a child could have figured out the trains, read about them on line.
i like this video style keep making such videos and also can you tell the difference between all the four med schools in hungry that would be beneficial for the incoming students maybe a podcast of some sort
Hey, I will see what I can do, it isn’t that easy for me as I draw a lot on experience at Pécs and don’t hear a lot about the other universities but I will keep it in mind. Thanks for the feedback!
Does the same apply for semmelweis and debrecen as well?
I can’t say for sure as I only know about Pécs but it will be similar. There may be a slight change in their curriculum in the order in which they do things but the subjects will be for the most part the same.
@@CamMedLife I see.. thank you!!! Great videos!!
Thank You for you efforts, all of your videos are very informative . my question is.. As a scholarship student (first year) do you have the right to choose your Dorm ?
Hey, I don’t think you get priority but I could be wrong. I think you still need to go through the same application process for the dorm of your choosing via the Neptun Portal System.
@@CamMedLife Okay thank U 🌼
What’s the passing grade for each subject?
In oral exams, it is impossible to answer because the requirements in each department are different and the examiners are all slightly different too. Your result is somewhat subjective based on the examiners opinion of your performance. In written exams, it also differs slightly from subject to subject but 60% tends to be the average.
Thanks a lot Cam. I’m appreciative of your response. Good job on this very helpful channel. One more question: Could you please share some of your insights regarding Medical Chemistry. What is the nature of this course and what suggestions do you have on how to be successful with it. And what is the exams like and how do you prepare for it overall. Your thoughts are appreciated as always.
thank you for the videos. Just a question, Pharmacology exam oral right?
Hey, both semesters end with an oral exam yeah
@@CamMedLife thank you
Hey how much does health insurance like taj card cover for international students..
Hey, it covers emergency cases when you go to Government hospitals and then I’m not entirely sure of an upper limit for GP/specialist visits but I assume that it covers everything. I advise looking into it a bit more as I can’t give a full answer
@@CamMedLife thanx for feedback
Hi brother im coming this September to study master in chemistry program How can I find part time jobe there during my studies Thanks for your answer in advance
Hey, quite a few people have asked me this but it’s not something I’m knowledgeable on unfortunately. I don’t have time to work so I have never looked into it here in Pécs. All I say to people who ask is that I see international students working for food delivery apps and also at some restaurants but other than that, I’m not entirely sure. It’s a small city so I don’t think there is an abundance of work opportunities but I’m sure you could find something if you really looked hard enough. Language just might be an added obstacle in addition to the city being small.
Well done! And especially well done on passing Pharmacology!!😊
Thank you! ❤️
Thank you so much for the helpful videos about the University of Pécs. Could you tell me which of the three school dormitories is closest to the Faculty of Pharmacy? Also, in which dormitory are there more opportunities to meet more students studying pharmacy and Black students? Lastly, are there dormitories available where each room accommodates only one person?
Hey, Szántó dormitory would be the best option based on your first 2 questions although I can’t say for sure what everyone’s degree of choice would be or their ethnicity. Szántó is close to the faculty and offers the best experience all round in my opinion. Each dormitory requires sharing unfortunately.
@@CamMedLife Thank you so much for the info! I really appreciate it!❤️
@@CamMedLife Could you please tell me the specific courses that are done in the first year for pharmacy students at the University of Pécs? And how many courses are done in the first year also
more videos!!

Hey, quite a few people have asked me this but it's not something I'm knowledgeable on unfortunately. I don't have time to work so I have never looked into it here in Pécs. I got admission in pecs uni in BS biotechnology ..and also got SCYP scholarship. I'm very excited but will u plz guide me what the weather is there bcz I'm coming from Pakistan 🇵🇰.
Hey, congratulations! I would describe the weather in Pécs as a city of extremes. It gets cold in the winter reaching temperatures of around -7 degrees and then it gets really hot in the summer reaching temperatures around 37 degrees. So bring clothing that covers both bases and if you don’t have a winter coat already, I advise you buy one in Europe as they tend to be better equipped for the winter. Pécs can also get a lot of rain at times during the year so a coat with a waterproof outer layer would be most ideal.
@@CamMedLife well that's so extreme for Pakistani 😅😅
Could you please say something about part time job opportunities to fund my expenses?

hey, what do you think of the university of szeged. is it as good as pecs
Hey, it is very similar in ranking with the University of Pécs so there isn’t much difference. Szeged is a little bit more known for their practical involvement (from what I have heard) but I can’t confirm as I haven’t studied there. Pécs is a little more known for a tough and volume heavy theoretical focus in the first 2 years…at the end of it all, I think you come out of both institutions with a relatively similar standing.

Hi 👋🏻@CamMedLife I have recently graduated from a Uni here in South Africa and wanted to go do medicine , so i am writing my entrance exam for the uni of Debrechen in 4 days. I just wanted to ask if it's worth it so far for you? As a South African, what are your worries ? And any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏 As ek in kom en ek is daar dan kan ons saam *BRAAI* 😂 Thanks
Hey! Good luck on the upcoming entrance exam! Overall it is definitely worth it for me. I don’t know if I would have been given the opportunity to graduate as a doctor in many other countries and so I’m grateful to Hungary. It definitely isn’t perfect, the system is very different and I personally feel like the Uni is very theoretically orientated and doesn’t focus as much on the practical application of our knowledge in a clinical setting. There are also maybe a few more complaints here and there…That being said, every place has its problems. In the end, it’s manageable and you do come out with a lot of knowledge plus the degree which is most important. If you would like advice on anything specifically then feel free to reach out! Haha, ń Braai sal lekker wees! 😂
@CamMedLife Hey, thanks for the response I do have good news. I got accepted 🥳 As such, I do have a lot of questions. Do you mind if I just dm you on Instagram?

Please dont stop making this type of content🙏 its litterally lifesaving
I appreciate the feedback thank you, I hope to start posting again in the near future.
Hi, Cam! Which dormitory is nearest to the faculty of engineering and information technology? Im from the Philippines!
Hey, Boszorkány will be the closest but it is a small city and it’s easy to get around so if you going the dormitory route I would still recommend Szántó Dormitory as a first choice.
