เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 6 ม.ค. 2013
My first video was filmed in a sunroom due to the bright natural lighting, and just like that, Sunroom Studios was born! It has since grown to encompass topics ranging from cool things I've seen in nature, reviews of products, and projects I work on here and there. These video projects are fun to make and serve as a creative output. I hope you enjoy them!

Can 4Runner Handle Extreme Cold?
Yes! The 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner performs great in extreme cold. Living in Minnesota, we experience some of the coldest temperatures in the US. This last week we had persistent temperatures as low as -20 F (-28 C). The 4Runner started and ran well, even sitting outside for prolonged times. It's not just a function of the battery, but also function of the overall vehicle working as a system. Warming the 4Runner for at least 30 seconds to 1 minute is recommended prior to driving in extremely cold temperatures, then go easy with driving until the vehicle has completely warmed up. Idling for 10 minutes occasionally while warming up is not going to put excessive strain on the vehicle, but contributes to pollution and contributes to poor gas mileage because you are not moving anywhere, so try to reduce extended idling if possible.

Why Are Vehicles so Expensive?
มุมมอง 1.2Kหลายเดือนก่อน
New vehicle prices now average at $50,000. These are 5 reasons of why that might be: 1. transition to EV requires large investments 2. focus on SUVs and luxury for higher profit margins 3. increased production costs 4. tariffs on Chinese auto limits competition 5. increased reliance and availability of long-term high interest loans If you can afford a new vehicle, then great! If not, there are ...

Purify your air with a DIY Box Fan Filter. Easy to do, affordable, and fairly effective. I've been doing this for 2 years now and have noticed a significant improvement in air quality, especially during wildfire season. What's with the Wool Blanket?
มุมมอง 4872 หลายเดือนก่อน
So what's with the wool blanket? I replaced my old cotton blanket with a King sized Wool Blanket. Don't worry, it's not itchy. It's mold and mildew resistant, naturally fire retardant, and doesn't attract dust mites or other allergens. Wool blankets were standard military issue, dating back to the Revolutionary War, because they are durable and insulate, even when wet. Do you have a wool blanke...

You just dont start a car straight away when you put in the key like that. The engine heater needs 10secs and its show on the dash. That type of turning on the car kills the engine
I didn't know this. I looked into this and found out it allows the computer systems to initialize and the fuel system to prepare for starting, which can help with a smoother ignition in cold temperatures. Helpful tip!
@sunroomstudios8487 Your battery is brand new I suppose and your Alternator is in good condition thats why you can start like you did in the clip. You would run into problems with and older batery and a start like that. Also when you turn on the ignition and wait till the engine heater starts to work it draws a lot of power to heat up the block so fast and if you start it before time you make a big energy pull from a healthy batery which will weaken it over time especially in cold like that. Also I suggest getting a new OEM alternator cause thats the worst part of the car and I dont know why Toyota lets it happen year after year. I live in Montenegro EU and mine has failed after 3 4yrs on a brand new Toyota Hilux. Australians are big on OEM parts and have great Alternators for any climate sand or mud. Sell that one and get a new one.
@@nebeska_medja My battery is at least 2 years old and I haven't had any problems with the alternator, even with running extra lights and the winch. So far, so good. I'm a big fan of OEM parts, particularly after watching The Car Care Nut!

This is the way
No engine block heater on mine and it started just fine when it was -37
My 4Runner started without any issues at -35 Celsius…is not whether it starts or not anymore with most vehicles. It’s all about having a health battery….my first car 1983 Honda Accord started with one crank back then and temperature was -50 Celsius.
Your 4Runner is not special. In the interior of Alaska, it can get as low as negative 40 degrees F. All kinds of cars can handle extreme cold provided they are properly equipped with engine block, oil pan heater, etc and hooked up to an outlet, including my 5.7 Tundra. Your 4Runner will not survive in the winter without such equipment despite how special you think it is.
I can’t imagine -40F, I don’t think I’d survive that! 🥶
Hey douche bag, he’s literally giving us a look into HIS 4Runner. If you wanna talk about your Tundra, you do a video about YOUR Tundra.
My old f150 barely survived a NODAK winter where we saw a solid week of -20 and -65 with wind chill. The power steering pump sounded gawd awful in those temperatures. Two days in a row it never stopped howling both directions to work. I have a 4 runner now that I may return to North Dakota with. All I had before was a magnetic oil pan heater. I'll install a proper block heater this time. Those temperatures are awful.
Me I warmed my tacoma for about 5mins until I see the temp gauge goes up then I drive.
Thank you for explaining. I'm a new owner of a 4runner and I was wondering how it would behave in cold weather as well, since I'm planning trip to visit Yosemite in wintertime. Another unrelated question, I see that you have roof box, how did you install it? Any drilling required?
Yosemite sounds awesome! The roof box is temporary, but has held up great so far. No drilling, just ratchet straps. I made a video on it here: Budget Rooftop Storage Case Securing Solution for 4Runner th-cam.com/video/s4z3KdHsiwA/w-d-xo.html
@@sunroomstudios8487 Thank you, just finished watching that video. It's a heck of great idea!!!
Are the security bolts on the brace bars necessary or can you use the original hardware?
Well I got 2 of Josh's backflip's seen personally and I'm 48 yrs old! ❤Twenty One Pilots ✌️❤️
Very impressive he can do that, then right back to drumming!
Great install video. I just got my bumper yesterday. My question is how do you lock and unlock the spool with the winch inside the grill?
You can reach the free spool lever through the driver’s side access hole in the bumper, but it’s not easy. You have to torque your hand and can barely reach it. Kids can reach it fairly easy though. Not ideal, but it’s doable. Good luck with your install. Best advice is to take your time and it’ll turn out great!
Can you use a hair dryer to warm up the area you want to install the emblem?
I wouldn't use a hair dryer. I'd just wait until the outside temperature (day and night time temps) are > 55 degrees F, unless you have a temperature controlled garage. It takes time for adhesive to achieve full bonding strength. I have a relative who was an adhesive chemist, and temperature and pressure are very important with initial bonding. A hair dryer would create too much of a temperature swing, creating dramatic expansion and contraction, and poor adhesion. I've had my emblems on for 2 years now with no problems. This includes temperature swings of >100 F in the summer, to -10 F in the winter. Surface prep and proper initial adhesion are keys to long term durability, as well as quality adhesives. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@sunroomstudios8487 thanks brother
Thanks just want to make it's done correctly, factory didn't do it right
Nice review bud, appreciate the insight
Wow, nice size of that blanket. It’s hard to get a hold of a size like that where I am from… but I love wool blankets, I own a few, and yes, I have one in the car I have for work .. just in case… my favorite one right now is a one in merinowool, it’s so lovely soft and thick and little lighter than my others in the same size and thickness.. wool blankets and just so nice. Ha ha.
I love merino wool. I wear merino wool socks all winter long! 🥶
Thank you for your insight! I’m a Minnesotan aswell and it was great hearing about use cases in our state.
I bought one from Amazon. I came with out the cables and adapters. There is no way to charge it; no way to use it. I'm sending it back.
It's just greed, and the EPA. Certain trim models used to give you leather seats, now they're cheap fabric. Charging you monthly for heated seats, even though it's still installed on the vehicle. Trucks suffer dealer mark ups, used to buy your own lift kit and suspension for 5k$, now they add that as a "package" and adjust 15k$ to the price. They put smaller displacement motors with turbos that arnt made for longevity. Trucks have to be a certain size to justify the motor for emissions. Smaller pickups arnt a thing anymore. If we got rid of the emissions laws we could have small trucks with v8s, but now we get garbage like the ford maverick, which is just a car with a bed the size of an SUV trunk.
Reminds me of the origin story of the Grenadier.
stop buying them. 2017 was the last year i bought a vehicle. still driving it.
Why are vehicles so expensive?! Democrats shut down the country 2 years longer than necessary because of Covid therein creating a chip and vehicle shortage. When they took power they implemented green new deal legislation that increased emission standards, costing manufacturers more on research and development. Additionally pushing EV’s no one wanted. In a nutshell that’s why vehicles cost so much now…Democrats.
Where did you get the little clips to hide the wire for the wireless charger at 8:35?
I found those at a local hardware store, but you can search on Amazon for "wire clip adhesive tabs" and some options will come up. I got cheap ones and had to change the adhesive to Loctite adhesive tape because they kept falling off. You may want to find some with good 3M adhesive.
Money printing and greed
3 things driving costs up. Inflation from excessive government spending, especially the cares act during covid. Put 6 trillion dollars into the money supply in one day. Unstable supply chains. Covid and then later, the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East have forced manufacturers to find new sources for a variety of materials in order to comply with sanctions and avoid shipping in war zones. Lastly insurance. Insurance rates are up for a variety of reasons too. Increased crime, increase of illegal immigrants and more distracted drivers probably from technology, electric cars involved in accidents are also more likely to be totaled than gas vehicles due to battery damage and lack of shops capable of working on electric cars. Even gas cars are harder to fix after an accident since so body panels are made to look more fancy but aren't easier to repair damage on. Other increases in technology and complexity has made it more expensive to fix a vehicle involved in even minor accidents. All of this loss in profit makes insurance companies raise rates to keep thier shareholders happy.
Good insight but used cars aren’t cheap either. You spent 30k on 7-year old car. In 2018 you could get brand new 4runner for 32 grand
Yep, some used cars are still not cheap, like 4Runners. Depends what you want though. I got mine in 2022, so was only 4 years old at the time. It already had an OME lift with Bilsteins and 33" tires, with no accidents, and was a TRD Off Road with a rear locker, A-Trac, and MTS, and no rust, so I still feel like it was a good deal for 32K. I could have gotten a cheaper SR5, but it wouldn't have any of the other Off Road things I wanted. Either way, it's a far cry from $50K today for a 2025 4Runner TRD Off Road. Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it!
You can buy cars in that range easily. You just want the higher trims
To add to your list… Baby Boomers represent over 50% of new car buyers and over 90% own their home. Simple fact of why cars are more expensive is that the people who buy them new have more money than average people and car manufacturers know this.
This makes sense. I know more and more people who give their kids their old cars and then go out and buy the new vehicle they've been wanting, because they can afford it and their kids can't.
Thanks, Biden!!
global EV mandate. keep voting democrat!
I sure will
Really good info. Thanks for sharing
Do you think 295 70 r17 will fit?
I don't think those would fit. 70% of 295mm is 206.5mm for sidewall height. 206.5mm (top sidewall) + 206.5mm (bottom sidewall) + 431.8mm (rim diameter) = 844.8mm. Compare to 285 70R17 of total height of 830.8mm. That's a full 14mm difference. I can barely get the tip of my finger between the hitch and the tire, which is the limiting area. Even with pushing the tire as far forward as possible, I don't think it'd fit. If you try it and it works, let us all know. Otherwise, it's a good reason to get a steel bumper with tire swing out arm!
Is buying this case worth it for the long run?
After 2 years of heavy daily travel use, it’s still going strong! No cracks, still fits great. It’s the real deal!
State Fair HOT DOGS , HELL YES !!!
Won't it get to hot ?
Nope, not hot at all!
What kind of lube is used in the video? White lithium? Silicone? Good clear video with instructions, thanks for that!
I used 20 year old Judy Butter in this video, because that's what I had on hand. Ideally, you'd use White Lithium Grease or Silicone Grease to reduce attracting dirt and debris.
Thanks alot show us it in action and how much the filters got dirty after 3 months
Good tip. Going to set this up on my fan

I've been looking for a used wool blanket. The older ones are better to me. All worn in but not worn out! Haven't found the right one yet. Looked at some from Amazon but they have a nasty chemical smell.
I’ve been getting Ektos brand wool blankets from Amazon. They don’t have a bad smell, and are great for the price. Older high quality blankets in good shape are superior, but harder to find

I have a video of this
Get a life! That kit is meant for auto glass that is double pane, the system secures the outer layer crack and stops further cracking. Single pane glass doesn't react to the same forces.
These are similar seats I had to the Dallas show. Except I was one more level up, and a bit further to the left, -so this is a better shot. But just being in the same building, feeling the vibe was good enough for me.
They really put on an amazing show and make the audience feel part of it, no matter where your seat is!
