Based on her relay split of 47.71 ,Sydney can in theory run 48.2-48.3 at best if her split is converted which would put her in the same range as Paulino.. the Diamond league should have added Syd to the finals as that would have given us the fans a battle for the ages plus the hype around the race would have been good publicity for women's sprinting and track as a whole...and no she wouldn't have taken someone else's lane cz they have a 9 lane track in brussels plus as a wild card she wasn't going to be given the Diamond trophy anyways

An appearance fee is not an incentive to win-that’s what prize money is for. The appearance fee is an incentive for organizers to attract more people to the stadium. At the end of the day, this isn’t about the athletes; organizers won’t eliminate appearance fees because it affects their ability to make more money. Why can’t there be both-appearance fees and increased prize money? It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

Yes, get rid of appearance fees and pay travel and hotel. Then pay out one through eight finishers; bonus for stadium, national and world records. But, pay a little bonus for the 2024 Olympians to prosper off their work in 2024.

I just wanna know why a single all women’s track meet has Anson’s panties in a bunch. ATHLOS was just a celebration of women track athletes for the general public. I see nothing wrong with that

The Athlos Meet was always really less about the pay discrepancy between M&W in T&F and more about finding ways specifically in the US to make headlines and the sport more popular outside the Olympics for the most basic & casual American Fan! Don't see the point in some ppl getting so upset about this, would be much more of an issue if something like GST with 4 Big Meets next yr was both Women's & Track Events Only as opposed to a single end-of-season Women's Only Athlos Meet! 100% agree that there was so much time between the 6 Track Events that could easily have been filled with at least one Jumps & Throws Event each. Does feel at times that the sport keeps finding ways to create more separation between the 'Track' & 'Field.'

More women need to support or be customers of women's sports. It's not a man's job to support both the men and the women's sports.

They haven't separated men and women in the sport because they don't need to. Men and women are already presented equally, paid equally, celebrated equally.

Anson is right. I enjoyed the meet, but this is not the sport to separate genders. Its always been a sport with pro events that included men and women... ATHLETES... which is probably a good reason why T&F pay IS equal. There's no gender equality point to make here. More importantly if the situation were reversed women would be up in arms. Imagine if MJ decided to set up Grand Slam Track as a mens-only event paying out big awards to the participants, but the women were left out of it. There would be a revolt. Athlos has opened a door here that should never have opened for this sport.

I'm all for an only women's meet. Everyone loves women and our sport has the most beautiful women in the game. That said, ONE track meet is cool. Maybe one per year. Not anything more. We don't wanna promote women's sport more than men's sport. Especially not in our sport because it doesn't need it. It's a joint unity sport.

Combination of GST & Athlos Meets has forced the DL to increase its Prize Money, no doubt the WA Continental Tour Meets will also follow suit! All 4 'Slams' of GST (supposedly LA, NY, Birmingham UK & Kingston JAM) are rumoured to run from early Apr - late May/early Jun, so will likely overlap with the first 5 of the 15 DL Meets in the early part of the outdoor season.

Diamond leagues fill the stadiums with fans. The only meet in the US that have a filled stadium is the Penn Relays. The rules should not be changed for Syd, when all she had to do was run in one DL. The DL finals will be just as hood without Syd. People think that Syd should get in without competing, and someone who has been competing and earned the right to compete should get screwed out of a lane. Syd will not be missed.

Who initially gave Syd the green light? Because they said something before Syd announced it on her social media. I imagine for events like that you have to go through multiple people to get the approval. Did someone jump the gun? Seems like the people who work for the DL don’t know the rules either lol.

Not asking a lot for Syd to have run ONE DL race this yr out of the 14 DL Meets prior to the DL Final to ensure eligibility for the already generous wildcard criteria. Literally didn't have to leave the US to do so as she could've gone to the Pre Classic in Eugene to get that ONE race out of the way. Someone in Brussels messed up offering those spots in the first place w/o having done basic due diligence to ensure it was done according to their own rules which shouldn't be hard to do given that Syd has literally only run ONE DL race in the last 5yrs! Bolt in his prime ran more than ONE DL race every yr, so going fwd can Mondo, Crouser, Rojas, Kipyegon, Paulino, Tebogo, Lyles etc. all get to skip the DL Season & come in at the very end for the Final?!
