Good 🌄 Gil, how are you ? The rookie camp started yesterday. This is the kids chance to get notice. The Islanders signed Keith Kincaid from Farmingville. He's come full circle first he was with The Rangers, then he was with The Devils, now he's come 🏡 to The Islanders. I think Ilya Sorokin might be going thru a depression. Good to see Maxim Tsyplakov in camp. That's rare for a player in any sport to say money was not the reason I'm here, opportunity was, and his respect for Patrick Roy. HAPPY 🎂, MICK VUKOTA. He was another pre Rip Wheeler, but he could put the puck in the net, too. Before I go, I was 👀 Game 2 of The 82 Finals between The Islanders and Vancouver. As we all know, Mike Bossy put on a show; however, Dave 🐅 Williams, the meanest player in The NHL who could put the puck in the net, had made it clear that didn't like Boss because he wouldn't give him the satisfaction of dropping his gloves. I can't help but wonder if he respected the way he scored goals, especially the one in mid air. I also hope he paid his condolences to Trots, who is tight with 🐅, who saved his career, and of course, was Boss best friend until the day he passed on. I agree Gil its always interesting (as a fan) that maybe (during these camps) a kid out of no where-turns into a solid NHL ready player and gives this team more depth. To then allow the Isles to move a player to add either players or picks to benefit the franchise. Occasionally these situations do happen and lets hope for some positive surprises.

Omg! Lou loves old school Grandpa’s ! Lou had already signed Hogberg!!!!! Why would he sign a 35 year old? Varly and Hogberg will likely start the season! Signing Sorokin when he has some kind of illness I don’t know what Lou is thinking! So you put Sorokin on long term Injury status and you have 8.25 and no cap issues! Gil, we need to know when Illya got hurt and if senile Lou let him play like mayfield. I have family members who already got season tickets and I’m sure would have liked to know the truth before possibly wasting their money. But of course that’s the reason the fossil hasn’t said anything. Without Illya our playoff chances are slim at best. And varly is one move or possible save away from being out a month like the past couple of seasons. We’ll have plenty of money if illya is on ltir.

Doesn't matter. Isles rookie camp means nothing since not one 'rookie' is a threat to make isles. Most are ahl bound with gill, george now ready for ahl duty. And tysplakov is still an unknown to n. am. hockey who still has to earn nhl spot. So sad state isles development and feeder system produces nothing and is weak and mismanaged by louzer as no prospects stick out-no buzz about louzers grade b prospects to get excited about. Doubtful maggio or dufour even if they light it up get an nhl call-up as 18 fritters away a roster spot. Maybe gill will surprise only to be ahl banished forever. Of note-a recent nfl power ranking 'expert' said n o saints are the nfl definition of a bland boring average nfl team on par with baseball's average sf giants. Isles are nhl's version of a boring bland average team year after year with louzer's run it back bunch having no buzz or excitement about them season after season. I've already bought all my isles tickets. I'll be there cheering them on regardless. I have to be honest tho, Lou hasn't done nearly enough. So I will not be surprised if Philly and Buffalo rise in the East, perhaps Pittsburgh as well, and the Isles will sink. Or at best, stumble into playoffs as a wildcard and do nothing - a repeat of the last season.

Think the Canes have the advantage with offensive firepower and defense, Goaltending if Sorokin comes back to top form I will give the Islanders a slight edge on Goaltending. Coaching I am a big Patrick Roy and Rod Brind'Amour fan so push there. Still, think the Canes are more likely to be in the playoffs. Great Podcast guys! LGI

NO a middling w card at best not improving isles are not passing anyone. Isles should be more worried about teams berhind them making moves and improving like habs, wings, sabres. How has this team improved? By adding another average forward in duclair? Isles once again sink or swim with basically the same unexciting roster. So NO isles wont pass canes who will still have rob b. and will play fast pressure hockey and some good d.

Gil, I believe the Islanders will finish first in the Metro. Rangers take a step back. Devils improved but there is still something missing. Canes the bottom falls out. I don’t think people are understanding the Patty effect. With improved offensive and defensive system the Islanders will be 1st in Metro.

Zach Martin's right about one thing, just because you were drafted in the first round that doesn't mean you're automatically going to make the team. Kyle McLane has potential to be a Bottom 6 Forward. The Islanders have Patrick Roy as Head Coach to start the season, and if they stay healthy, they have a chance. The Hurricanes are a #2 team. Never underestimate any team in The Metro Division because stuff happens. Don't forget about those dreaded Rangers, and don't forget about The Panthers either. What could he be dealing with and when and where did he get hurt I think he's fine when they say dealing with something I feel like that could be any one of 20 million things going on in his life

I'm happy you didn't go overboard with Friedmans very vague 'concern'. He never even mentions having a source for those concerns. It seems more like Sorokin missed an event and Elliot couldn't get an answer as to why, then had a troubling dream on the subject. Friedman is reliable, but some other 'journalists' are already proclaiming that Sorokin has a mystery injury. They base their 'reporting' on nothing more that Friedmans 'could be...I don't know.....maybe....maybe it's nothing' wonderings. Elliot could fart and some of these journalists will write about rumors of Armageddon.

Maybe needs laser eye surgery? I mean maybe his depth perception is troubled.. Awful lot of goals went under his arm tight to his body, goals he prolly could have stopped with his glove in front of himself.. IDK but I hope it all works out we need him 100%

I dislike when things are kept quiet. I like honesty. I DO NOT like to be kept in the dark. Lou needs to BE A MAN, GROW SOME GUTS and be honest with the fans. His ways of secrecy are useless in this day and age.

Lets hope Sorokin doesn't have any serious health problem. It could be he might have/has a knee injury/lower body; it wouldn't be a good idea having Sorokin at a fan event in crutches or hoping around. After this speculation about Sorokin makes allot of sense-maybe another reason why they fired Lambert. Although Skarek and Appleby might not be NHL goalies, its complete negligence and selfishness for Lambert to drive one of his players right into the ground. Sometimes you need to go with what you have-not what you want, and it looks like Sorkin got hurt during the late winter early fall.

i lost ton respect for sorokin when he sat in the hallway and sulked after he was pulled in the playoffs he should of been on bench supporting his teamates especially varly who did nothing but support him even after he took his job

Tuff one for isles if 30 goes down for any length of time. Isles will get a nice dose of sub par ahl goalies skarek and appleby in that case. Thank louzer once again for leaving no wiggle room cap wise to sign or trade for a goalie (unless 30 is ltir'd) and for leaving his sorry system lacking in nhl ready prospects in goal. Louzer should be ltir'd from gm'ing.

Dobber is still a young developing super star. The ranking is very fair and lets hope he keeps going up from there. LGI

No doubt we need to get younger and need to move some of our older players. I would prefer some younger prospects with upside to build for the future. LGI

Retain 50% and trade him to a contender at deadline, Brock Nelson would be a perfect 3C for a contending team. Hes also 32, now would be a good time to get some value out of him.

Comment a little late, he should have been moved at the draft there were teams with really good picks that we could have gotten Youth

What's up with Sorokin? Is he really hurt?

I think if a decent deal is feasible during preseason to trade Nelson Lou should take it. When I say decent I mean an excellent prospect plus maybe a first/2nd round pick. The benefit would be to reduce the cap hit, however the islanders would need a 25+ goal scorer, or someone who is excellent on special teams.

Definitely need to keep moving toward getting younger, Nelson is a rare breed, one of the few guys who has actually gotten better as he has aged. If we are out of it come the deadline they should look to move Nelson, Palms, and possibly Varly. Their return would be significant.
