    I love them, those 3 players really represented the team, it was going to end one day but they’ll be remembered forever, Thank you LGI !!!!

      Special line and rare that a 4th line reaches that status for one season, let alone for a decade. Thanks for the comment, Raymond. LGI.

    Nice topic, Gil. I salute Matt and Cal for their play. That said, their high point was years past, and it is long past time to move on.

    • @LockedOnIslanders
      @LockedOnIslanders  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed, Bob, it's time to move on although it wouldn't shock me if Lou brought one or both of them back if he frees up some space. They were great players in their roles for a decade roughly. Thanks for the comment, Bob. LGI.

      We'll see if either signs. They both said they want to keep playing. Lou isn't closing the door on either being back, but they need to add cap space first. Thanks for the comment, dennismoore7935.

    Identity line was the highlight of most nights years back. Not many 4th lines can boast that. Heart and soul for many, many seasons. Everything comes to end I guess.

    • @LockedOnIslanders
      @LockedOnIslanders  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They were a special unit and they earned the other nickname they had, "The Best 4th Line in Hockey." All three of them should eventually be Islanders Hall of Famers. Thanks for the comment, Ian.

    Gm Gil. I treasure my Matt Martin signed pucks and Martin jersey. It was clear, especially Matt Martin, that more than a couple of steps had been lost and the toughness in decline. Father time can certainly be cruel. The fact that neither was given a proper goodbye is wrong. Given how poorly this team is run, not surprising. So, I wish them both well.

    • @kidnamedbarzalislanders2498
      @kidnamedbarzalislanders2498 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m not sure what type of goodbye was warranted for a couple of 4th line players. Patrice Bergeron retired last year and he didn’t receive a parade or anything remotely close to it. If anyone deserves a proper good bye it would be Bergeron. Future hall of famer. Yes Martin and clutter are crowd favorites then again so was Mick Vukota.

    • @LockedOnIslanders
      @LockedOnIslanders  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We'll see if these guys get recognized once they retire. I think the team will give them some recognition once they know they are retired or not returning. Martin and Clutter were great Islanders and they deserve to be in the Isles HOF once their careers are over. Yes, Father Time is undefeated and not always kind. Thanks for the comment, Eric.

      How do you give a good bye "ceremony/recognition" when they haven't even announced they're going to retire? I'm sure there will be some recognition at a home game this year. It is not necessary to make these comments "how poorly this team is run".

    Hi Gil! Hope all is well! Yes, thank you to those three for all the years, hard work and blood/sweat and tears. It’s a shame wee could not produce a top line during their prime years, results I feel would have been different. It’s time to allow Dufor and Maggio and give them a chance. I get it that we need to get younger and faster but without an enforcer, this year will be a very difficult year getting pushed around big time. Contending teams like the Rags and Devs got much tougher. Rempke/ the Duck kid --Devs Dillon and the ex King guy--sorry their names escapes me. We have no one and playing physical will be difficult. Bottom line? Gil a team should never ever be defined by its 4th line--NEVER!! Regardless, thank you to Matty and Clutter!!

    • @LockedOnIslanders
      @LockedOnIslanders  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's very rare for a reason. Usually, you want your best players to be the ones who define your team. Let's see if Lou makes any more moves. Thanks for the comment, Frankie. LGI.

    Good 🌞, Gil, how are you? Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck may or may not be back that we don't know. Now, The Islanders need a new 4th line. Cizekis speed, very physical, Martin and Clutterbuck, too. If they're going, they get someone whose young, fast, physical, and can put the puck in the net. Fasching, Holmstrom, and McLane, that's a strong possibility. I remember Al Arbour doing that whenever Trots got kicked out of the face-off circle, Westfall, and later Butchie were there as insurance. Patrick Roy will work his magic with this. Pierre Turgeon, who played with Patrick Roy at Mintreal in 1995, said that Roy has a 🔥, passion, and he wants to win. They've been saying The Islanders are a country club team for over 50 years. HAPPY 🎂, HUBIE MCDONOUGH, good career. Before I go, I have to tell you, I was 👀 an interview with Air Jordan and The Boss when they were both in their 20's or 30's. They were playing ⛳️, having lunch, and Jordan was interviewing Boss. It was quite nice talking about he didn't like to fight, and he played the game with some class, and he said that people were saying that maybe he and Trots may have ESP. Hear from you later, Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS.

    • @LockedOnIslanders
      @LockedOnIslanders  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I saw that interview. Was a cool thing to see. Hope the new 4th line works, whoever ends up on it. I hope Turgeon is right about Roy. Will be interesting to see. Thanks for the comment, Cindy. LGI.

    Good morning team! Gil, great episode as always, Sir. The identity line will be missed for sure. Unfortunately, we need to move on to help improve the team. They did a pretty good job, and it worked for us. I don't know too many teams that didn't start their top line. Will we put together another "identity line" or do you think we'll begin to start our top line? Getting excited about the start of training camp in just a few short weeks away! Thanks for all you do. Everyone have a great day! If you're in the path of TS Debbie, please stay safe. We're expecting quite a bit of severe weather here in Maryland. See you all during the next episode. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!

      I think Roy will do things a little differently than Trotz and Lane did. We'll see what a new 4th line looks like. Roy likes to change things up so it wouldn't surprise me if different combinations started each game depending on the situation. Thanks for the comment, Tony. LGI.

    I wouldn’t mind Clutter back on a Team friendly deal. He showed some life last season and wasn’t injured all year,that’s a plus. Some Team will pick him up,no doubt. The identity line was the fiercest line in the NHL years ago,they put a beat down on most Teams. Thank you guys.

    • @LockedOnIslanders
      @LockedOnIslanders  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They were a special unit. Clutter being back makes more sense of the two of them. Of course, Lou has to create cap space even if he pays Clutter the league minimum. Thanks for the comment, Patricia.

    Who would you say could make up the next "4th line"? I like McLean and I could see Fasching fitting nicely with McLean. If Engvall had a little more grit to his sandpaper, that would be a decent 4th line.

    • @LockedOnIslanders
      @LockedOnIslanders  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fasching, Cizikas and MacLean would be one choice, maybe Holmstrom beats out Fasching. We'll see how it all plays out. Thanks for the comment, Jeremy.

      Definitely not. They would be hindering the younger players from growing. We know what we have in clutter and Martin. Guys that play physical and bring very little offense. Isles need to go young and, faster. Today’s NHL id all about speed and skill.
