Been doing this to my roof for years!!! No leaks ever!! And summee electric bills are down!!!
The most insane asbestos video I've seen, incredibly poor safety measures. Significantly below health and safety standards that must be followed when dealing with friable and incredibly hazardous insulation. This whole process/methodology will have generated astronomical airborne fibre counts. With the poor clean up following there's likely a significant persistent impact of asbestos throughout your home. Anyone watching - this methodology will lead to an enormous single exposure event and lingering exposure with the resultant contamination across your home.
Hi there, I'm a roofer that specializes in roof coatings. Any time you are putting silicone down over asphalt shingles or modified bitumen, you should first put bleed trap/primer down first. This will solve two problems. It will help with the adhesion of the elastomeric silicone to the shingles, and second, it will stop the discoloration of the asphalt oil from bleeding through.
Thanks , we'll done!!😂
Please no one follow the removal methods in this video. They are extremely hazardous and not recommended. At this moment (2025) I'm getting 168 linear feet removed from my basement - took two days by certified professionals and cost $4,700 which includes third party air testing completed afterward. This is coming from someone who has their OSHA 30 and will tackle any DIY including a house rewire, but this stuff is not worth risking your life over.
Watching the insulation disintegrate and fall on the floor as they rip it off, the brush on the floor to disturb it even more - insane.
@@elongatedonionEven more insane are all the comments that applaud this.
@@malascarrie Insane mate, especially when you see just how much they removed too. Airbourne fibre count would be BONKERS high
What a scam that is. Lmao
clearly a womans solution...

This has got to be a joke are we on candid camera I would no do that to my roof
Just a quick question. I started being a maintenance worker at a hotel. But for the roof it’s leaking. Before I put this tropicool roof coating down. There’s black coating or something they put down first. I just need a little help.
I’m sure you can put this over top of the black roof tar. It will be much cooler being that it’s white. It’s a little bit more money than the black roof coating but it’s worth getting.
I would apply Rubberized Wet Patch, which is black. The black coating or seal that you see on the roof is probably the same. Clean it, then apply new Rubberized Wet Patch. This white silicone is a better product, but a gallon costs $120, the black rubber is $30 and can last 10 years.
Nice video but please change your title to "GFCI." Also, even though you used only the "LINE" side (HOT) there is also a "LOAD" (piggyback other outlets) side, and the distinction should be noted; there is a difference. If you had TWO black (HOT) wires and TWO white wires these "pairs" would've needed to be installed into their proper openings. Great camera work BTW!
I just changed the title. I got the letters mixed up. Thanks I had a hard time explaining this video.
@@Handywoman ...you sounded alright to me; the video was very well done.
i like it, i would also consider black sealant. Also, I don't believe there would be moisture trapping issue as someone stated in his comment, but if you can install a fan on your roof you won't encounter such a problem.
Put a Weather rated cover over it
This isn’t outside, it’s in my laundry room that used to be an outside side porch. It’s enclosed.
@ got it. It looked like it was outside near a porch.
loving the paint color............. NOW........ paint the windows white and use black shutters !!! you will be so happy !!!!!!!!
if you have to replace your roof, go with a black roof, or as close to black as you can get. if your home is properly insulated you dont have to worry about the heat , or the cold for that matter. keep up the good work. i look forward to seeing the progress and finished product.
Does it work well on metal roof?
Yes, Henry TropiCool can be applied to a metal roof, as it is designed to work on various roof types including metal, but it is important to properly prepare the surface by cleaning and addressing any rust issues to ensure good adhesion; always perform a test patch before applying to the entire roof to check compatibility with your specific metal paneling.
WoW. Ive got the exact same problem, same house/roofing setup. This video really helped me out . However I have 4 flat roofs , all about the same size as yours. Where did you get those drain guards? I love them and I need them. the ones I have are junk and get clogged with the slightest amount of debris You’re damn good roofer
Thanks! Those drains are really nice!! I don’t know where they are from.
Someone may have asked…What kind of ramps did you use? Also: For future jobs, consider chocking both tires at the back to prevent car from sliding backward as once happened to a loved one and almost killed him.
Good idea! I’m so sorry that is sad.
You sound like a country version of Nara Smith! Thanks for the demo.
Thank you for making this, unplugging mine today! Also Gary Numan 🤘
How has it held up?
It’s holding up really well. I haven’t had any problems with it.
Did it help with any leaks ?
I didn’t have any leaks on this roof. If I did, I think this would work.
I think these is the culprit of the noise under my car.
Just FYI for anyone considering this you will immediately void your roof warranty with this product. She’s wrong about a lot of things not the least of which is “just apply another coat”. You can’t reapply silicone coatings even to surfaces that it is meant to go on which this is not one.
Is this a joke??
Are you kidding me! You are going to clean the whole roof in this manner? I think you may need a handyman to help.
I bought a power washer 😁.
Thanks !
Sneaking those foot shots in. Aaaahhhhhhhh?
Can you put the green slope over top of Tropicool? Did my whole roof with tropicool a few years ago but now have a ponding section. Actually considered just building it up with more tropicool until I found your video.
Yes, I don’t see why not. Make sure to put the supplied adhesive polyurethane down on the roof first.
@@Handywoman Thanks! Just found your channel and subscribed. Keep kicking butt!

We just watched this video in Asbestos education class. Congratulations on your mesothelioma!
What do they say about Fiberlock Serpi Flex sealant?
This video is absolutely terrifying, literally chest tightening watching. The airborne fibre count would have been fucking insane holy FUCK wtf is this video. The initial paint covering that didn't even completely cover the aircell and the sweeping with a fucking dustpan and brush is the cherry on the cake. The cutting into the insulation and seeing the visible pieces (and guaranteed millions and millions of fibres) rain down as it pans to them flapping a bin liner without overalls OH MY GOD DUDE WHAT THE FUCK
@elongatedonion I had to get it out.
@@Handywoman GOOD GRIEF NOT LIKE THIS, NOT WORTH IT
I used Lanco white seal...it looks just like that, i put on 2 coats, it lowered the attic temp 50 degrees F... i noticed that i dont get all the sand in the gutters now that was coming off the shingles, its been over a year and its holding up good, i rolled it on with a very thick nap roller, 1500 sq feet, took 40 gal , 16 hrs of labor total it took and 2 rollers... it looks nice white with the dimensional shingles and the house is much cooler, im in central Florida, no shade trees. the attic in the summer used to get 150 F , the highest reading since the coating was 98.8F in the top area of the attic the air right above the insulation will be the ambient temp outside, im sure the shingles will last longer, they were 5 years old when i painted them, it is hard work, i did it in march was not too hot
Thanks! This was helpful.
When did you plant it outside? Did it survive? We live in New England and I wonder if we could overwinter it indoors.
I bought this apple tree on sale in October 2023. I planted it around the middle of October. It’s been a year and it’s doing well. It might do ok keeping it indoors for the winter.
If you're not professionals - which you're clearly not - don't go about posting "how to" videos! Reading the description, you're clearly aware that asbestos is very dangerous yet you treated it with a "it'll be fine" attitude. You didn't wear proper protection, you didn't treat it properly and you didn't clean up properly. I'm genuinely concerned about your health, let alone the health of the people who follow your "instructions"!
FYI you have to have a female and male or varieties to cross pollinate. otherwise no apples will grow. I almost made this mistake last year buying them when on sale until I looked it up.
Thanks. Yes, I discovered this after I bought the tree. I’ll have to get another apple tree and plant it close by.

Looks like it takes to long to set up, try the one that you just push the brush in
Hi. Does your unit release hot steam on the detergent dispenser when drying clothes? Mine releases lots of hot steam on the detergent drawers handle.
I don’t use my dryer much. The few times that I do use it, it didn’t release hot steam. Maybe look at your dial setting that you have the cycle on. The spin cycle works really well to get all the excess water out. I let my clothes air dry as much as possible.
@@Handywoman3 hours to dry is type crazy
So you don’t need any external hook up
@ No, it’s ventless. When you are in the dry cycle the number comes up at 7:25, 7 hours 😱 the number drops dramatically down to a few hours. It’s really quiet.
how was tool cleanup…what worked
It did dry on the tool that I was using. I used a putty knife to scrap it off. When it’s still wet you could take a rag and wipe it clean. They did suggest WD40 to spray on your tools. I didn’t try that. It wouldn’t hurt to try it, it might make it easier to clean up.
Thanks for the video! Questions: how many square feet would you estimate you covered, and how long did it take you?
@robertcraven1771 I would take a guess that it covers about 50 square feet. I did this in the heat of the summer when the temperature was in the high 90s.it took my a weekend to do. Some parts you had to let sit and dry.
