Second video of my transmission slipping. This is several months after my first video. Two dealerships have looked at it but haven't been able to figure it out. Warning, shaky video, you may get sick! Video of my transmission slipping. I believe this is the forward clutch slipping and not the chain. Subaru CVT Clunking
มุมมอง 3.2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
2017 Subaru Outback, 2.5 4 cylinder with 41,250 miles. I've isolated this noise to the CVT, possibly on the input side. Noise from the inside sounds like a card stuck in bicycle spokes. The noise changes with engine RPM, not vehicle speed. When shifted into neutral, the noise slows down some but stays constant while I vary engine RPM. One day and ~100 miles later, the transmission started shift...
Would you consider that Full Spin noise excessive. I can't tell as I can't compare with any background noise in the video. Mine reaches up to 82 db and it sounds like a very fast drum beat but I'm not sure if it is the same as yours. Did you happen to measure the sound level or at least, would you consider yours bearable?
When the machine is trying to balance the load, it can get loud and clunky. After it's balanced we don't notice the spin cycle. I haven't tried measuring the sound.
Thanks for the response. I realize the feet when adjusted needs to be locked so I did that. It improved the sound by around 7db, but I feel it is still loud enough to wake up the person next to the laundry room. In any case, I have scheduled for a replacement and hopefully, the next one would be a lot better.
I just got this unit 3 days ago. It performs really well, wash and dry. The only complaint I have is that there is an excessive noise (82db) when the washer spins at its fastest. This fastest spin seem to happen only when the load gets heavy, like washing a king or queen comforter. Did you ever experience this excessive rattling noise at its fastest speed?
This is so much easier if you get the pedestal.
These machines are too complicated and I doubt you will get your money’s worth. I know it has its advantages but not for me. Thanks for the informative video
Can I stop the cycle to remove items that I want to hang to dry like sweaters?
Yes
Yes, you can turn off the dry portion of any cycle to make it wash only.
What is the blue plastic cup for? I just got mine and can't figure it out.
The blue cup is for manually adding detergent. Place the detergent in the cup, the place the cup on top of the laundry before the cycle begins. Just make sure to get the detergent settings correct before starting!
The reason the coils are clean is because it washes the coils with water periodically. The LG also does this and the GE doesn't. From the teardown videos ive seen this seems to be the best built out of the three available today.
We opted to put specialty detergent in the flex auto dispenser but cannot figure out how to select the specialty detergent instead of regular detergent for a wash cycle. The only options under detergent are low/medium/high. Where do you tell the machine to use the specialty detergent instead of the general detergent?
I was able to find the settings under "Dispenser care" from the screen where a load of laundry is started. I needed to turn on the second reservoir and select "specialty detergent".
What is the water hammer issue you are talking about? Mine has a rapid knocking for about a minute at a time while it's drying. It's really loud but it doesn't alarm out for anything. It also sounds like it's coming from the back left at the top. It reminds me of a water hammer but it's during the dry cycle ...
The water hammer was the water pipes in my house jumping around due to the rapid opening and closing of the water solenoids of the all in one unit. I usually hear it in the bathroom 20' away from the laundry room.
That is the water intake used to dry the clothes. Yes believe it or not there are small amounts of water taken into the machine of washer dryer combos during the drying cycle but I can't exactly remember why@@mikeferryall1424
That ginger ale is a slap ain’t it?
My wife love it!
How do you like it still?
Still loving it! No issues after 6+ months. We adapted very easily to running loads of laundry overnight 2-3 nights a week rather than having a traditional laundry day. When my son makes a mess of his bed overnight, we just strip it in the morning and run the bedding while we are away at work.
The Samsung technician to check the filter and avoid to wait for it to drain was flipping the washing machine on its back, tilting it on the back side and let it lean to the wall. Don't know if I made myself clear. Basically it rotate it 45 degrees on its back to make the water run to the back. I think it should work for this model too.
I wish I was strong enough to try that! This thing weighs over 300 pounds!
Heard you say “unscrew it” and did just that, from there I spent 20 minutes mopping up the ground. Should just kept listening and not paused the video…
I did that the first time I cleaned the drain filter! Now I just put a bed of dirty clothes under it to catch the water.
I got mine yesterday, working as expected. Maybe for the software update doesn't have any inconveniences. We have wash 5 loads already. We are a heavy user house. You can change the price of energy with smartthings. The AI cleaning feature for me is the best. Because it calculate cloth soil, if need more spinning or less, more watching time or not or drying time depending of how dirty is your clothes. Would give an update comment in 2 weeks. I'm in Dominican Republic
I'm pretty sure you put the samsung lint back in upside down, if it matters.
I did! That's why the door didn't close. Silly mistake to make since I was one month into owning the same model.
@mikeferryall1424 lol no worries, I did the same thing with mine.
Have you, or anyone who owns one of these noticed the top left of dryer warming up significantly? I have had mine for a few weeks and ever since the first load it has produced a lot of heat from the top left of machine. Using an infrared thermometer, I got a temperature of 105.4 from this area. Samsung is saying this is normal and I am wondering if anyone else can verify this. No other part of the machine warms up at all. By top left I am referring to the very top (lid) of machine on the left sude. Basically in front if the canada dry box you have on top of machine.
Yes, front left corner on top is hot.
Bestbuy just had them for $1700.00
I just got this unit. Washing bedroom sheets and its telling me that it will take 6 hours to dry? Is that normal? I noticed when it got to the dry cycle it said it was cleaning condenser and it went to 6 hours of dry time. I stopped the cycle at 2 hours and the sheets were dry and hot to the touch. The load weight was 7 LBS. I had the bed sheet program selected. This was only my second load
Yes, that's normal. The machine is also very pessimistic about estimating drying time with loads like sheets. I have expected loads to go at least another hour just for them to finish early. One of the selling points of the Samsung is that the dryer gets clothes almost as hot and dry as a traditional vented dryer. That adds a lot of time the competitive units don't run. The competition is OK with clammy laundry at the end.
@@mikeferryall1424 Next time I will try the normal setting or AI setting
We need more instructional videos like yours. Samsung is lazy. Great vid 👍🏾
Why must they use a 10 dollar Android display and chip? I'm MUCH rather have plain nobs that make it stupid simple. The smart features could be controlled via app on a phone.
Hey, I recently purchased this washer/dryer, but my clothes come out wrinkled. Does anyone know of a solution or workaround? Thank you.
The setting menu contains an air fluff option to reduce wrinkles
I just got mine delivered. None of these how to videos show where the detergent is. Or how to set it up with my phone and what about leveling?
th-cam.com/video/HNvb3G9cxSw/w-d-xo.html That video shows where the detergent and fabric softener reservoir are. It will also help you when it's time to clean the drain filter. Sorry, but we got lucky and didn't need to adjust the feet to level the machine. My wife handled the app setup.
I'd like to see it with laundry detergent and fabric softener at the default normal cycle wash and dry.
I seen your video a month or so back and just remembered maintenance time and had to find your post. Thank you
Bruh this is the heaviest appliance I ever had to move LOL
The first load i put in shows 6 hours? I could do 5 loads in that time with washer dryer. Not impressed to increase laundry time by 5 times... Any way to actually do it in 98 min or is that 98 min per pc of clothing in unit?
We haven't tried the quick cycle. We just run ours overnight and don't worry about the long cycle times. Our loads are typically 4-5 hours.
The US energy guide treats it like a washer only, for some reason they can’t fairly rate it as a combo, this is true of other combo’s on the market. The Canada one seems to be rating it more correctly. In the energy guide site it’s referred to as a washer. It would be nice if they just gave two labels, one for the function of washing and one for the function of drying.
Thank you. That explains the US/CA label difference and my energy consumption!
@@mikeferryall1424 I have this model and this explains the labels, but it doesn’t explain the screenshots of your supposed energy use. One cycle you had said it was 22kwh for bedding. The compressor in this combo only pulls like 600 watts and total for the machine is 700 watts, assuming the electric resistance coil isn’t being used in the wash/self-care cycle. It would have had to run for over a solid day to use that much power on one cycle. I’m sure it’s a software glitch. Samsung isn’t exactly Apple when it comes to software, I can’t even access one page of their energy use section of their iOS app. Have to access it from the machine. In iOS it skips right past it, best I can do is take a screenshot in the half-second it’s on the screen. My cycles range from 0.8-1.5kwh, usually (and I’ve checked it with a watt-meter the unit is plugged into, the numbers are pretty accurate). If you haven’t already, go to settings and make sure the software is up-to-date. I had to update mine when I got it. If you don’t want it connected to wifi you can disconnect it later or delete the network.
@@causarumcognitio Before the first update, the usage monitor was WAY off. After that update, the numbers started to make more sense. To get the numbers it was displaying early on, I would have needed to pull 30+ amps for the entire time the unit was running. Since this is running off a 20 amp breaker, I knew it couldn't be accurate.
@@mikeferryall1424 Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about your numbers given it’s a 120 volt machine.
@@mikeferryall1424 I don't think I've had mine as long as you but in my impression, the Al Wash and Dry cycle seems to work like the normal cycle, but doesn't dry more than needed and also applies the energy saving function to vary the speed of the compressor. Clothing that has really dense material or is designed with balls of fabric (like a dress) needs to be set to "More Dry". But that Al cycle works for a wide variety of loads. Obviously it only uses algorithms at most on-site, but it's very versatile in how it detects the weight of items, adjusts drying based on humidity and I think it's remembering previous cycles it was used for and how they turned out. Keep in mind, if a machine can weigh a load before it gets washed, it's probably weighing them again when it thinks the load is dry. There are reasons that method can fail. This video, if you haven’t already seen it, has a lot of useful information for any owner or prospective owner. I personally don’t trust or like Samsung for appliances. I would have felt better with an LG, but this is without doubt the most powerful and largest combo dryer on the market. More importantly: the condenser cleaning system is the best. I’m going to get a water softener because, among other issues, the hard water could clog the condenser cleaner device. We only have 7 grain hardness but it’s killed things in the past. Not risking a $2,000 laundry machine. For the lint, I’ve seen videos about the GE unit that make me pity the owners even though they have that nice warranty, they have so much lint cleaning maintenance to do that isn’t even in the manual, basically running a giant bottle-cleaning brush to the back-left every cleaning. Meanwhile, we use our combo way more than a normal household and the coils are amazingly clean. th-cam.com/video/vao_KqCzLUE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ilV3NSz1PqPdn63M
The app has on-peak and off-peak timing available for prioritizing the ai energy mode which seems to use it as a variable speed compressor at about 50-60% of compressor power.
Not that it isn’t extremely efficient, but the US Energy Guide label, I think, is only a measure of it as a washing machine. I’m not sure, but I think there’s a clear reason for the discrepancy with the Canadian rating. We run ours a lot but $10/month is still unreconcilable with the estimate and Energy Guide only classifies it as a washer. They probably just need to go through bureaucratic hurdles to rate it the way they know is more appropriate.
Did you see the testing on this thing before you brought it? After only 4 wash and dry cycles on a brand new machine, they pulled the entire machine apart and found lint on other areas of the machine. These things cost over 5k in Australia. No way would I get one. Same thing on the GE model
I bought it from the Samsung Insiders program in the States. We were one of the first to get this unit and were asked for an honest review in exchange for a great price. We weren't able to see any videos or reviews prior to buying it. After I did my review, I saw that video where they pulled a machine apart and pulled out a large clump of lint between the heat exchangers. I also saw a video where after 40+ loads, there wasn't any lint in that same area. I think the lint video was a Samsung hit piece and the other was an honest review. Samsung has earned some hate and I think some people are still holding a grudge.
@@mikeferryall1424 fair enough. Appreciate the reply
We have 2 amd love them , but one has started leaking detergent, the nipple that connect to the detergent box appears to have broken off. The box has never been changed since we got it so weird how that happend. Anybody else experience this?
I've had detergent leaks on my left hand box. Not sure if it's because I accidentally overfilled it a tad. Currently using 3x concentrate so it'll be a while before I can be bothered to pull it out since the leak is quite small.
have you noticed that clothes come out much more wrinkled? I bought downy antiwrinkle fabric softener and it improved the wrinkles by quite a bit.
We are guilty of leaving dry clothes in the unit or laundry basket for days after a load is done. We don't use fabric softener either. We don't notice any more or less wrinkles with this machine.
Thank you so much for posting this! You are a lifesaver!
So...at the end of the video, i was waiting to see if that load was fully dry...was it ?
Yes, warm and dry. This machine fully dries the clothes unlike other heat pump dryers that leave the clothes feeling slightly damp.
Hey Mike thanks for all your videos on the samsung combo question to you and others who have the Samsung combo machine why did you pick Samsung over LG and GE doing research for a future purchase thanks!
We chose Samsung because we got a great deal through the Samsung Insiders program. If you need a new appliance and don't mind doing a review, it's worth checking out.
I watched this video because I wanted to know what the blue cup thing is on top of the unit. I can't find anything in the installation or user guides about it.
The blue silicone cup is called the Aqua Pebble. It's for manually adding detergent instead of using the reservoirs. Load the laundry as normal, put the detergent in the cup, then place the cup on the laundry. Then start the load, making sure it isn't going to use detergent from one of the reservoirs.
Ours started to leak water (a lot of water) out of the bottom after using it for about 6 weeks or a 40 loads. Costco is replacing it, but I wonder if this is common.
I have only read about a leak from one other owner. Except theirs was a split hose that ran water to the heat exchanger sprayers. That machine only leaked when doing the heat exchanger spray. Apparently the top isn't too difficult to remove as the commenter was able to replace the hose on their own. I hope yours makes it way back to Samsung so they can identify the root cause of the leak and improve the design.
Did you try cleaning the drain trap?
I deactivated the ai energy saver and it dries 1 hour faster.
I have done that when running a load mid-day. The AI is basically an eco mode that tries to use as little power as possible to do the job. We run most of our loads overnight so total time isn't much of a concern.
Where do you put powder detergent
The unit ships with a small blue silicone cup, called the aqua pebble. Put the powdered detergent in that then place the cup on top of the laundry and start the cycle.
@mikeferryall1424 so you didn't use the detergent dispenser at the bottom? I asked samsung support and they told me to fill the dispenser up with the powder one,,,, they didn't mention about the aqua pebble....
@@kitsumkwan we only use liquid detergent in the bottom reservoir.
Love it heat pump all the things
After the washing you don't get the error of having to check if the water supply is fully open and to drain the water trap at the bottom?
I haven't received any errors from this machine yet.
@mikeferryall1424 gotcha! I think my cold water didn't have enough pressure but ima fix that today and see how that helps
@mikeferryall1424 I just got all the plumbing done letting it all cure now I hope it continues through both cycles without an error
@mikeferryall1424 yep thats all it was, it goes through both cycles with no problem
@@brandonrogers3653what did you need to replace?
Para q es esa goma azul ??
The blue thing is called the 'Aqua Pebble'. It's for manually adding detergent to the laundry. First, place the laundry in the machine. Next, add detergent (liquid or powder) to the blue silicone cup. Lastly, place the cup on top of the laundry and start the cycle.
How about the “ unbalanced load “ rocking when it is in the rinse / spin that I saw in the other normal wash video ? Does it get worse? I’m on my second machine and it does it. It’s scary like it’s unbalanced for a minute..
We run our loads at night and haven't noticed. Sorry I can't be more helpful on that issue.
Yes. It’s normal. Seems to move the basket too much before accelerating but then stabilizes. Seems to be part of the design.
Verify unit is installed level
Family has one and loving it 😍
Right now this isnt the fastest, but it is the best (and most affordable). The other two options have design issues that lead to failures, and poor drying performance.
We have 2 of these. They are absolutely brilliant.
Sorry for responding out of the blue, we were looking to install two of these in our home as well. Was there anything special that you had to do to get both set up? Do you have them set up side-by-side?
@@wyattcalandro3436 Costco set these up for us side by side. They're on the same waterline and same drain as well. Nothing out of the ordinary. They do not need the vent for the dryer so we had to plug ours. Besides that, they're easy to deal with.
He mentioned that you couldn’t schedule your loads, but then later on after the screenshots you mentioned that you could. please clarify
I can only schedule an end time. I would prefer to schedule a start time. With an end time scheduled, the machine estimates the best start time. I have a time of use electric rate plan. I want my loads to start when off-peak rates start. With the current scheduled end, sometimes it runs long and hits a higher electric rate time.
The reason is because they have copied miele and Bosch two of the major European companies. Cheaper brands like beko You can ser the start time like 3 h from now The most expensive you have to calculate when you want tod.fimish😊@@mikeferryall1424
How often does the machine tap the easy button
That's how I know it really isn't AI! It never hits it, even after easy loads.
Thank you for posting this machine in action I wasn’t sure if the subtle clanking noise was normal or not when spinning at high speeds
Good morning from New York have the same machine with minor problems ..I had the GE ultra profile combo so had both machines for now ..the Samsung ACTUALLY dries the clothes and the GE leaves it slightly damp to damp ..GE is faster in both washing and drying to me ..but Samsung has been the better machine but good luck
I had a stand alone heat pump dryer before this all in one unit. I was also surprised at how dry and hot the clothes feel at the end of a cycle. Although I think that extra time drying contributes to the longer cycle times.
