I had a stand alone heat pump dryer before this all in one unit. I was also surprised at how dry and hot the clothes feel at the end of a cycle. Although I think that extra time drying contributes to the longer cycle times.
Sorry for responding out of the blue, we were looking to install two of these in our home as well. Was there anything special that you had to do to get both set up? Do you have them set up side-by-side?
@@wyattcalandro3436 Costco set these up for us side by side. They're on the same waterline and same drain as well. Nothing out of the ordinary. They do not need the vent for the dryer so we had to plug ours. Besides that, they're easy to deal with.

The compressor in this combo only pulls like 600 watts and total for the machine is 700 watts, assuming the electric resistance coil isn’t being used in the wash/self-care cycle. It would have had to run for over a solid day to use that much power on one cycle. I’m sure it’s a software glitch. Samsung isn’t exactly Apple when it comes to software, I can’t even access one page of their energy use section of their iOS app. Have to access it from the machine. In iOS it skips right past it, best I can do is take a screenshot in the half-second it’s on the screen. @@mikeferryall1424 I don't think I've had mine as long as you but in my impression, the Al Wash and Dry cycle seems to work like the normal cycle, but doesn't dry more than needed and also applies the energy saving function to vary the speed of the compressor. Clothing that has really dense material or is designed with balls of fabric (like a dress) needs to be set to "More Dry". But that Al cycle works for a wide variety of loads. Obviously it only uses algorithms at most on-site, but it's very versatile in how it detects the weight of items, adjusts drying based on humidity and I think it's remembering previous cycles it was used for and how they turned out. Keep in mind, if a machine can weigh a load before it gets washed, it's probably weighing them again when it thinks the load is dry. There are reasons that method can fail. This video, if you haven’t already seen it, has a lot of useful information for any owner or prospective owner. I personally don’t trust or like Samsung for appliances. Because it calculate cloth soil, if need more spinning or less, more watching time or not or drying time depending of how dirty is your clothes. Would give an update comment in 2 weeks. The reason the coils are clean is because it washes the coils with water periodically. The LG also does this and the GE doesn't. From the teardown videos ive seen this seems to be the best built out of the three available today.
Hey Mike thanks for all your videos on the samsung combo question to you and others who have the Samsung combo machine why did you pick Samsung over LG and GE doing research for a future purchase thanks!
We chose Samsung because we got a great deal through the Samsung Insiders program. If you need a new appliance and don't mind doing a review, it's worth checking out.
We have 2 amd love them , but one has started leaking detergent, the nipple that connect to the detergent box appears to have broken off. The box has never been changed since we got it so weird how that happend. Anybody else experience this?
I've had detergent leaks on my left hand box. Not sure if it's because I accidentally overfilled it a tad. Currently using 3x concentrate so it'll be a while before I can be bothered to pull it out since the leak is quite small.
I can only schedule an end time. I would prefer to schedule a start time. With an end time scheduled, the machine estimates the best start time. I have a time of use electric rate plan. We opted to put specialty detergent in the flex auto dispenser but cannot figure out how to select the specialty detergent instead of regular detergent for a wash cycle. The only options under detergent are low/medium/high. Where do you tell the machine to use the specialty detergent instead of the general detergent?
I was able to find the settings under "Dispenser care" from the screen where a load of laundry is started. I needed to turn on the second reservoir and select "specialty detergent".
Ours started to leak water (a lot of water) out of the bottom after using it for about 6 weeks or a 40 loads. Costco is replacing it, but I wonder if this is common.
I have only read about a leak from one other owner. Except theirs was a split hose that ran water to the heat exchanger sprayers. That machine only leaked when doing the heat exchanger spray. Apparently the top isn't too difficult to remove as the commenter was able to replace the hose on their own. I hope yours makes it way back to Samsung so they can identify the root cause of the leak and improve the design.
Right now this isnt the fastest, but it is the best (and most affordable). The other two options have design issues that lead to failures, and poor drying performance.
Have you, or anyone who owns one of these noticed the top left of dryer warming up significantly? I have had mine for a few weeks and ever since the first load it has produced a lot of heat from the top left of machine. Using an infrared thermometer, I got a temperature of 105.4 from this area. Samsung is saying this is normal and I am wondering if anyone else can verify this. No other part of the machine warms up at all. By top left I am referring to the very top (lid) of machine on the left sude. Basically in front if the canada dry box you have on top of machine.
We are guilty of leaving dry clothes in the unit or laundry basket for days after a load is done. We don't use fabric softener either. We don't notice any more or less wrinkles with this machine.
What is the water hammer issue you are talking about? Mine has a rapid knocking for about a minute at a time while it's drying. It's really loud but it doesn't alarm out for anything. It also sounds like it's coming from the back left at the top. It reminds me of a water hammer but it's during the dry cycle ...
The water hammer was the water pipes in my house jumping around due to the rapid opening and closing of the water solenoids of the all in one unit. I usually hear it in the bathroom 20' away from the laundry room.
That is the water intake used to dry the clothes. Yes believe it or not there are small amounts of water taken into the machine of washer dryer combos during the drying cycle but I can't exactly remember why@@mikeferryall1424
I just got this unit. Washing bedroom sheets and its telling me that it will take 6 hours to dry? Is that normal? I noticed when it got to the dry cycle it said it was cleaning condenser and it went to 6 hours of dry time. I stopped the cycle at 2 hours and the sheets were dry and hot to the touch. The load weight was 7 LBS. I had the bed sheet program selected. This was only my second load
Yes, that's normal. The machine is also very pessimistic about estimating drying time with loads like sheets. I have expected loads to go at least another hour just for them to finish early. One of the selling points of the Samsung is that the dryer gets clothes almost as hot and dry as a traditional vented dryer. That adds a lot of time the competitive units don't run. The competition is OK with clammy laundry at the end.
It was the water pressure regulator for my house. It was 24 years old and was no longer reducing the city water pressure. I was getting 100 PSI of water pressure which is too high and may cause plumbing issues. My regulator should have maxed out at 75 PSI. I swapped out the regulator and am now getting 50 PSI of water pressure. Here is a useful tidbit buried where no one will find it! A Watts N35B can be directly replaced by a Watts N45 regulator. Turn off the water, unscrew the large nuts on the old regulator and pull it out. The nuts stay on the pipes. Just slip the new one in (with new o-rings) and tighten the nuts. The N35B doesn't have rebuild kits available, which is a moot point because it needs to be completely removed to rebuild it. The N45 has a drop on rebuild kit and can be rebuilt while still attached to the pipes.
How about the “ unbalanced load “ rocking when it is in the rinse / spin that I saw in the other normal wash video ? Does it get worse? I’m on my second machine and it does it. It’s scary like it’s unbalanced for a minute..
The unit ships with a small blue silicone cup, called the aqua pebble. Put the powdered detergent in that then place the cup on top of the laundry and start the cycle.
@mikeferryall1424 so you didn't use the detergent dispenser at the bottom? I asked samsung support and they told me to fill the dispenser up with the powder one,,,, they didn't mention about the aqua pebble....
The first load i put in shows 6 hours? I could do 5 loads in that time with washer dryer. Not impressed to increase laundry time by 5 times... Any way to actually do it in 98 min or is that 98 min per pc of clothing in unit?
I have done that when running a load mid-day. The AI is basically an eco mode that tries to use as little power as possible to do the job. We run most of our loads overnight so total time isn't much of a concern.
