Ignore this pointless video. Here are the documents you can lookup yourself documenting MJ's vertical in college. DOCUMENTATION: MICHAEL JORDAN VERTICAL JUMP. Krugh J, LeVeau B. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel = Hill, NC. Jordan did jump 46" because it was part of a study done for some science students at Chapel Hill Here is a study that involved Jordan from 1983 by the University of North Carolina, his maximum vertical was measured at 45.76". This was at age 20, given his increased strength and agility he may very well have improved on this in his early Bulls years. Here is an extract from the study.... PURPOSE: The purpose of this study, which was part of an advanced master motion analysis class project in 1983, was to determine Michael Jordan's maximum vertical jump. SUBJECT: Michael Jordan METHODS: Surface markers: Left lateral malleolus, left femoral epicondyle, left greater trochanter, left pelvic crest, and right distal phalanges of digits 2 and 3 of the hand. Tasks (in order) were: Vertical reach while standing flat-footed - baseline Vertical reach during a jump from standing Vertical reach during a jump from running Vertical reach during a 1 hand dunk Vertical reach during a 2 hand dunk Location: Fetzer Gymnasium, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. RESULTS: Maximum measurements: Vertical reach while standing flat-footed 93.67 in. Floor to pelvic crest while standing 49.00 in. Vertical reach displacement during a jump from standing 35.93 in. Vertical displacement of the pelvis during a jump from running 38.07 in It is possible that his max vert could’ve been close to 48 in. Jordan wasn’t as tall as most people think. His official height is listed at 6’4.75” without shoes and if you consider how much higher he would jump without a ball or trying to do trick it can add up. It’s hard to judge off in game jumps too because possible fatigue from actually running up down the court. I’m sure he had fresh legs when he tested.
Good stuff guys ❤❤
How r u not famous 😂❤

man what kinda legs you got

@@gladtech4740 no it’s camp hill, pa
Okay nice breakdown but your argument is flawed! Not everyone jumps the same…some are better long jump, some high jump…some off 1 foot..some off 2…Jordan is a great leaper in all! Jordan was measured @ 6’4.80 so if his head is even with the rim he’s at 43”. There’s plenty of evidence Jordan can get his head even with the rim. That’s with the ball in his hand which is supposed to limit your vertical jump by 2”. Add that 2” and Jordan is at 45” max vert. Hell there’s evidence of him getting his head a couple inches above the rim. Now if Jordan can jump off of 1 foot, from 5 feet out on a reverse and have his head at the rim which he did in the 88 dunk contest.… tells me it’s totally possible for him to get that extra 3” from a max effort off 2 feet jumping straight up. Especially young Jordan which had more bounce his first 5 years in the league.
@@chrislain1349 I appreciate this comment a lot and how you came with evidence, a lot of ppl have been saying “I like him so he jumps high” (not in quite such a blatant way but that’s the underlying message) so I really appreciate your thoughtfulness and willingness to have a conversation! That being said, I disagree with a few parts. Firstly, it seems like most reports of him being under 6’5” are measurements without shoes, which is important for comparisons because players started having standardized and better kept stats for their height in 2018-19 and everyone had to be measured without shoes. I think he’s 6’5+ with shoes which is important to know because every inch really matters for vertical. I’ve pointed out how impressive of a 1 and 2 foot combo jumper he is before in other videos, but I know his preference for vert tests was one foot. Also, every time he is pictured with his head at the rim, it’s not taken on even ground. Trust me when I tell you I can manipulate an angle and “prove” I have a 50” vert (which I do not) tomorrow if I just position the camera and my body correctly. Also, to address the last part, young Jordan is not credited with having a 48 inch vertical. His trainer claimed that 1991 was his peak for jumping. So the original source of the 48” vertical claim (Tim Grover, the guy who trained MJ and wrote “Jump Attack”), claims in the book that he went from a 39” vertical when first training with him up to a 48” in 1991. The guy had an opportunity to work with someone who was a freak athlete on his own, and he wanted to create a narrative that made Jordan appear to have improved significantly to make his work as a trainer seem better.
@@ben_wolfe8 The goofballs in the comment section who glaze and dickride their glorious king MJ are so funny man, like bro, zero proof he could even get his head to the rim. Forget 48, we don't even know if bro had a 45. And all the guys using zero evidence having no basis for an argument yapping about how you're "geeky" are so sad. I really hope you do more of these video man. I saw that your most recent video was four months ago about the self-lob. Please come back! I train with THP and one thing I wish they (Isaiah and John) did more is this type of exposing with logic and facts. Also, I know you said the NBA started more accurately measuring height in 2018-2019, but I honestly think that's B.S. I think they did start measuring most people correctly, but for people like Lebron they fudge the numbers. Like I think he got 6'8.5"? Which is very clearly not true in the slightest. Also, I saw your other video talking about how Wemby has a 25 inch vert - this I think you are wrong on. He can get his head to rim level or an inch above, which is around a 31 ish vertical.
Why is there a chucky in the first clip

So, if MJ is 6’5 (probably 6’4 because he was no taller than Barkley who claimed to be really 6’4), he would have a 43” to 44” (depending on what height you use) if his head was at rim level. You can search up a video called MJs Most Underrated Dunk. He nonchalantly jumps and does a reverse dunk, putting his arm elbow deep into the rim. Now, at the end of the video it shows different angles displaying how far MJ’s body is tilting backwards when doing the dunk and his head is right below the rim. Now, if his body was vertical, along with his neck and head, his head would be clearly above the rim. So it makes the claim of a 48” max vertical way more plausible
Do that at 30, 10 plus high ankle sprains in with wounded knees

young people are stupid. stop playin’ with yo body

That's hurt
Sorry but until someone from the 82 olympics in viewership says it was fake then its not. Ya'll act like the olympic games is a place to fabricate stats of all places?😂😂 like a youtube video made by some guy in his room is more credible than eye witnesses Also there is no way to measure a vertical from basketball footage. Vertical jump height in the olympics is measured without a ball in hand and a straight vertical jump with no horizontal distance. They measure both standing and running vertical if you can run and throw your momentum vertically your vertical increases dramatically. Especially when you arent traveling horizontal distance.
😂🔥🔥
tf is this freak of nature vertical?? bro is jumping like 50 inches
