Last Of Us Part 1 [2]
This is part two of this epic game.
I must say I am enjoying the hell out of Cachy OS Xfce Edition.
All my games run on it and just like Broken Ebeez
I too am so pleased to of gotten away from Windows for good on all of my hardware.
As true to my word, this series is done in five episodes, each very long.
Episode five is the longest at over four hours. All played and made in Linux, using OBS-Studio, Kdenlive and Avidemux to finally shrink it down with. Cannot wait for next year when hopefully Last Of Us Part 2 will be coming to PC?

This is just fantastic, being able to finally play The Last of Us part 1 here in Linux. It's of course the next game to go up in it's entirety. Like I said in the video this will be about five chapters, so watch out for lengthy gameplay, as we dive into this game. I am only interested in getting the story over, as the story is just brilliant, tension rises all over the place. Looking forward to...

    WOW!!! I used this before back when it first came out- and used it with EXT4 and my own settings-- out of habit- and had issues with it- glithces etc. so thought it needed time to mature. NOW- after my other distros conked out-- I installed this-- on default with BTRFS and let it set itself pretty much- and WOW-- it IS blazingly fast-- and the snapshots are INSTANT.. and easy to rollback to. I've had to rollback when an update to ONIONSHARE messed it up a bit- and it was instantly rolled back and PERFECT. I'm loving it now--- FASTER than I remember. LOVING IT!!! OH- and this is coming from a long time DEBIAN user that avoided arch like the plague-- so that says a LOT for it!!! OH_ and I use TILING on my NEW 6.1 KDE with krohnkite script and it works PERFECTLY!!!!

      Cachy OS is just for gaming on now. Teething problems when used as everyday driver, in the Xfce environment anyway. For gaming on brilliant, as video going out today for the next game to play and record. I only do videos for my own documentation, as my goal with Cachy is to play and record the whole of my Steam Library and post it all here on TH-cam. You can argue that I can game in any Linux, but Cachy OS has or adds that little something extra. I'm saving up for a new PC build at the mo for video rendering only, NVIDIA 4060 ti for AV1 recording and for rendering on, as it has 16GB of VRam and the NVIDIA 40 series has support for AV1, as well as for fast rendering in DaVinci Resolve. AV1 Codec is a free and open source codec, which compresses video down even more, resulting in better image quality and quicker rendering times overall.

    I wonder if there is a separate conf file for lightdm when run as root. Might try looking at the exact process name when running it as "regular" and then as root to see if the process names are the same. If it is different as root try searching for that exact name conf file. I have no idea if this is the case but it would be quick and easy to check. I use BTop++ to check processes.

    I have CachyOS installed on an extra SSD but still run Fedora as a daily driver. I've been thinking about making Cachy my daily driver. I have several distros on different SSDs. I've had problems with dual and multi booting setups so I got a SATA power switch module for $15 and just press the button to power the SSD with the OS I want to boot from - avoids all dual/ multi boot issues. I leave a shared storage drive powered on all the time to make it easy to add personal files to whatever OS I'm in at the moment.

We split up two years ago, without confirming that the band had split up to each other, but as my brother and I work night shifts, it is hard to get out there and play when a full time job takes over your life and with no energy left to do other things. I've just gotten home now from work, back there again tonight. My last night for five days tonight, then back again next Wednesday. Same faces, same routine on auto pilot, same conversations. Every working night is the same. I have not played guitar for two years, don't feel the same anymore like I used to. Since late 2022 the world's outlook for everyone changed, 2020 was bad enough. I worked through the whole of the Pandemic, trying our hardest to protect everyone. Everyone had the same nightmare no matter where you live in the world. Here we are in 2024 and a lot of businesses just treat their customers like dirt, or turn into patronising gits, that do not want to help, then they wonder why we don't bother with them anymore? I don't blame the old generation I blame the way businesses think, Dog eat Dog all the time. Anyway I have turned into Victor Meldrew and why not (Barry Norman too) 😁

    Quick correction: I tried it on the snap-free minimal install of Lubuntu when it released and at the time the PPA had no files for the 24.04 base. On my Ubuntu install I bit the bullet and endeavoured to see what the vanilla experience of Ubuntu 24.04 was like - snaps and all, and how many of my favourite apps I could still install as native .deb files. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out despite not being a fan (actually, I've been rabidly against them since their inception) and it runs fine on the laptop I've tried it on. That said, I wouldn't recommend a 'snaps and all' install of Ubuntu 24.04 on anything older than perhaps five years. Thanks for watching though and I hope to see you in the comments in the future matey ;)

    I have had issues similar with Debian in the past. I've recently used XFCE in other distros without issue; definitely not a problem with XFCE4. Have used XFCE for over 2 decades (on and off) with numerous operating systems and distros and have only ever had the problem you discuss with Debian. It actually has something to do with the package management tools and the software database - generally not be updated due to a locking issue preventing it from being properly updated. Yeah its package dependencies, it really comes down to how the maintainer of the xfce4 package is built, in short if mousepad and whisker are using the same dependency somewhere then yep they will get removed at the same time. You see that part where it says Building dependency tree... that's where it figures out what it will remove...LOL the maintainer may have a reason who knows... Yeah but for a brand new user, who is not tech savvy and just wants to get away from Windows altogether. Does not know about Terminal Commands, gdebi, Eddy which is a Flatpak app I believe? Has to stick with Snap Packages that do not work or install properly. It then puts Linux into a bad light. Did you know about the terminal and gdebi when you first started your Linux Journey? A lot of people out there that didn't, including myself all those years ago when I first started using Linux. I had been using Windows XP before finding out from my brother, that there is a free alternative called Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. Back then Ubuntu was small in ISO size, so could easily fit it on a CD. As USB sticks were so expensive back then, it was cheaper to use blank CDs. Chucked in at the deep end, without any help whatsoever, having to resort to reinstalling when things went bad, as did not know about online help, as any help to fix my Windows XP from running into crashes, meant parting with cash, being conned left right and centre, from a Multi Billion Dollar company Microsoft. Setting Ubuntu up back then with NVIDIA drivers was a pain in the butt, as the resolution had set itself to 800x600. On a CRT monitor (Cathode-Ray-Tube) So ending up counting how many pushes on the tab key inside the NVIDIA settings window to change resolution from a massive 800x600 to 1024x768. No such thing as High Definition back then, though saying that CRT's actually had 1080, 720 resolutions, just we did not know about them. Then finally counting from where we change the resolution, to the apply button, that was off the screen. Five reinstalls later, lots of note taking and finally a stable system. So yes I know Linux is far easier these days, but to not have Deb files able to be installed with App Centre is not good. Like Abhi said in his weekly news letter, it's not that he's against Canonical not supporting Deb files anymore, it is the way they sneakily went about it, slowly pushing them out of Ubuntu altogether and replacing apt with Snap packages. You enter in your Terminal sudo apt install chromium and it is a Snap instead of a Deb file. Okay so Canonical can do whatever with their Distribution, but to allow broken Snap Packages, not knowing where or who made them, yet everyone moaning about Debian packages being not trustworthy, at least they work.

      Ubuntu for me has gone too far to the proprietary side for my liking. Now I use Linux Mint Xfce 21.2, as my daily drive. If Canonical said goodbye to Snaps altogether, then maybe I would consider it? As it stands though cannot see them doing so.

      It is a wonderful piece of kit. I cannot do without it, as I don't write scripts for me vids, the silences just go and the way it splices it all together is amazing. After doing Auto Editor I make a copy, in Audacity, then render video with sound copy in Kdenlive, then shrink it down again in Avidemux. Avidemux uses I-Frames to shrink it down with, without losing quality.

    It all depends at which point in the history of the English language you choose to take as 'correct'. Have a look for 'Old English': There is a whole lot more than just ', and'. The English we speak today is a world apart from what historians would consider to be 'English' before too many changes were made by way of popular usage, slang, and the influences of empire. I'd say that as far as the last 100 years goes though, the biggest changes have been made through popular music and before that, popular literature.

    Ubuntu is actually not that bad and Gnome is highly customizable. The only reason I wont use it is snaps. Ubuntu is snappy, has great hardware support, and actually works pretty well. Synaptic package manager is about as outdated as windows 98. I do like Linux Mint better. If you hate on Ubuntu you sure should not recommend Debian. Hell if you install a theme on Debian it breaks.

    Listened up to the point where you tell Ubuntu to ditch Gnome and "go elsewhere"... It took 24 years to build Gnome and it is still not perfect. Do you suggest Ubuntu to start implementing something different, something better? Just wait 20 years or so... :) Oh, and Ubuntu is free, so who is going to pay for the development? :) It just doesn't make any sense.

    • @slim_2280
      @slim_2280 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I understand I went over the top a bit, but could they at least add or implement something to their OS to get away from the Gnome normal feel? That's what it was I was trying to convey. Even if it's like moving the app button on the panel to the left, when the panel is moved to the bottom or top of the screen. Not all of us are into just keyboard shortcuts to open or access stuff. Call me old school used to using a mouse. Give the user more choice too, as in don't chuck Snaps into everyone's face, add Deb files to the store as well, at least offer an alternative, because Snap Packages may work for some, but not for everyone.

      @@slim_2280 You're not too bright are you... If you don't like the Gnome environment then just choose a different flavor, there's a shyte of them to choose from. Then there's the fact that you suggest people rather use Debian instead of Ubuntu proves that you're about as sharp as a spoon. You give the the Linux community a bad name.

    • @slim_2280
      @slim_2280 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fuzzy850620 I do not give the Linux Community a bad name. I'm just being honest with my own opinion. In years to come I can see Ubuntu saying bye, bye to being Debian based and going fully Snaps through out the whole of their OS. I don't use Ubuntu as my daily OS I use Linux Mint 21.2 Victoria Xfce edition, soon to be moving to up to 21.3 Virginia. How do you know that I ain't too bright, do you know me?? No I ain't the brightest button on the planet, but I know a thing a two about life and Linux. Been using Linux since Ubuntu 10.04, gone through a lot of different environments over the years hopping to one to the next, looking for something that ain't there and never will be. That something that every Linux hopper cannot name, because there is no name to what Linux hoppers are trying to find, as every Linux Hopper's thing that they are trying to find is completely different to every other Linux Hopper's thing. There, there is another opinion of my own, this time about Linux Hopper's. Would you like me to tell you another? I've seen Ubuntu change so much over the years, that it has become unrecognisable to me. Don't get me wrong I like Ubuntu, but the decision making at Canonical could be better, especially chucking Snap packages at every one and not providing Debian package alternatives in their Software Shop, as Snaps take forever to download, take up far too much room on your drive. I'll be doing a video soon on this very subject. A trip down memory lane video and demonstration of how it must feel to just be tied to Snap packages and not knowing anything else.
