honestly it's your call whether you forgive them or not. it's up to you to continue the relationship or leave them behind. i will say it's a red flag some of them acted badly to how you felt about your hesitation to forgive them so they may not have changed entirely. if you truly desire to connect with them while still asking to preserve your mental health, i would say limited contact is best at first. however i would be wary with those red flags still there. maybe ask for family counseling sessions as a condition for reconciliation if you truly desire it. otherwise leave them behind if they care that little about your feelings

wrong convictions sucks my brother is going through one right now different crime but still false allegations see thing is courts don't care if your innocent or guilty to them its how much money we can get out of this and how fast we can push this along its one of the reasons why i hate the justice system but yea even if he did the crime or not family should have stuck with him but it shows how much they didn't care about him then they try to sweep it under the rug because they felt ashamed like who cares about your reputation and even if you think hiding it under the rug might work they most likely put that conviction on record for many people to see but yea crappy justice system we have when they don't even try to find out if your innocent or not

This is a perfect example of how some people care more about appearances than the truth. OP wasn't guilty, but being in jail made his family ashamed of it, regardless of his innocence and basically convinced themselves that he is a black mark on their family's reputation.

I'd just completely cut off contact with them. How dare they abandon him. How dare they expect him to just forgive them for abandoning him. How dare they get upset with him.
