Said this, I agree that while many consider part 2 better, while I still think it's a masterpiece, it's still inferior to the "leaner" and more focused part 1. More importantly, part 1 is more COMPELLING, because it shows an actual downfall, not the continuation of one. Nice to see more fishy observations.

I love part 2 more than part 1. The two stories corelated in a way that the empire that vito built from the scratch, is how runs by Michael now,..once when a local chieftan like Fanucci was a threat to now one of the most dangerous man in America continent Hyman Roth is now the enemy. It shows where we've come this far, the contrast in Vito's treatment with his family to Michael's cold treatment to his..and many others. I love it.

The last scene with Michael's close up is incredibly powerful. It serves as a metaphor for life. We'll all be faced with that moment when we look back with doubt and regret.

I have friends of mine that say the Godfather is really good they just don’t understand why it’s the greatest movie of all time they said it’s not better than Shawshank Redemption

The Godfather opening and The Godfather 3 ending very powerful moments of my life.

Another detail was the symbolism pertaining to oranges. Everything there are oranges in some scenes like when Vito is gunned down whilst buying them, and another when he's in the garden with his grandson with that orange in his mouth before he dies. That's just 2 examples though.

This has always been one of my favorite films. Really great job on this. I enjoyed your observations.

She envys Italian families..lol I am half puerto rican half white from NYC. Majority of my life I was in LTR with Italian women. They have big families, they are also very loud, arrogant, in your business and think they are superior to everyone and everybody. No matter what you do for them how long you are with them you will never be truly part of their family especially if you aren't Italian. I no longer and will no longer have any relations with Italian women.

In my view it’s both Tarantino’s best and one of the best films of all time by any director. Almost every scene is perfect master class of cinema. The dialogue, the performances, the script, the cinematography, the lighting just cinema at its finest.

I didn't like the end when Michael didn't give mercy to Kay. Part 1 is better all the way though.

A lot of people hated The Godfather Part II when it first came out and a lot of it was due to the constant jumps between past and present. But now it is widely considered a Masterpiece within the same breath as its predecessor. The time jumps in Part II are one of the biggest reasons why I love the Sequel.
