Void Stranger sure is a game, huh? In all seriousness I love how it plays with what it is, and doesn’t take the expectations of a genre too seriously. It let’s itself be whatever experience it feels like it needs to be in a given moment. Oh, and I like this video format. Gives you a chance to talk about games you maybe didn’t enjoy all that much without having to dedicate a whole video to it.

Metaphor reminds me of persona, smt ofcourse but with humans, toko taro touch makes it like its nier/ attsck on titan lol

I just beat the demo. It made me want a persona game set in Britain. I like how you're not collecting persona anymore but instead your changing classes and more focus on combination attacks but overall the world doesn't intrigue me. Especially since everything else is too similar to persona set in another medieval fantasy.

I'll be honest I'm a bit worried if the combat system takes more after persona than SMT. SMT's turn based combat is vastly superior. Ailments work, there's more skill types, more enemy types due to it, bosses are just better with these things working, and some other things I'm forgetting. Persona has some nice things like 1-more, technicals, traits, theurgy/showtime, shift/baton passing these led to a smooth experience, but these systems are either undercooked or busted. So far MR (Metaphor Refantazio) seems to take more after persona than SMT while not taking intrinsic traits. I don't really see ailments working for shit at least against bosses which persona has. The skill system seems to be more unique than persona, and combines skills with showtime attacks making; synthesis. Traits are sorta back with hero passives but I'm not sure how far that goes. Not locking allies into specific rolls and allowing for archetype channeling is a nice QOL feature and there's just alot of QOL features in general. But I feel like if the systems don't get more added onto as we progress it might get old soon. AND AILMENTS I swear if they do what persona does with them ima be pissed.

The story kinda sucked so far specially the pacing where it honestly feels like things are just kinda happening but there’s definitely a good twist waiting to happen here so i’ll refrain from judging the game too much. But the gameplay is perhaps the best they’ve made, that bird boss specially was when it clicked. If you didn’t play it on hard, replay the demo. Also really dislike the character designs, specifically the characters since everything else looks absolutely amazing. And that battle theme is obnoxious as fuck

To become JRPG of the Year, it has to surpass Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which was released earlier this year.

Goddamn, 2D cutscenes look juicy af. I’ve just downloaded the demo, gonna try to give it a fair shot. Admittedly I’ve stayed away from the Persona series completely out of instinct. Just something about that game, and the fans I see online, has made it out to not be a game for me. Obviously I could be entirely wrong about that if I gave it a chance, but this seems a bit more my style. Fantasy has always been the easiest way to get my attention.

I really can’t get over how gorgeous the Thousand Year Door on the Switch looks. So crisp and stylistically congruent. Personally I have a love hate relationship with RPGs. I find myself absolutely enamoured with some, and bored out of my mind with seemingly very similar games for reasons I don’t even understand myself. I was invested through the entirety of Ni no Kuni, but found MH Stories 2 to be not that gripping, even though I’d class these two games as objectively very similar. Maybe I’ll give MH Stories 2 a second chance when I can hopefully play it on the switch successor with backwards compatibility 👀

I feel there is a lot more to discuss here. First the price. Since the PS5 Pro has AMD hardware with proprietary dedicated ray tracing they currently don’t offer in their GPUs to accurately compare too. Furthermore with Sony’s take on nvidias DLSS (PSSR) it really muddies any water for comparison. But let’s say we ignore those things just use the AMD 7700xt which is 400 usd. That leaves 300 hundred for a CPU, CPU cooler, RAM, 2tb pcie SSD (like the PS5 Pro has), motherboard, case, controller, operating system. That’s virtually impossible and keep in mind we were being conservative with the GPU since there is nothing from AMD on the hardware and software side. I’m embarrassed to mention how much my 4080 was. Or my 1tb Steamdeck for that matter cough cough 650. Price in the EU, just think of that as the price you pay for consumer protection. The company I work for selling industrial equipment pulled sales from the EU due to aggressive regulations. We just sell to a 3rd party that marks it up even higher and sells there. PLUS don’t forget US citizens pay sales tax at the time of sale. Certain states having sales tax near 10% actually makes the price 770 usd. For me the total would be 755. A glance at Google finds developers from indie studios to AAA talking about the difficulty porting games to console due to hardware limitations. If I can find that in seconds I’m sure Mark Cerny isn’t lying when he’s talking directly to developers. This console generations has come to be known as the blurriest generation now there is a solution and we find something else to complain about. Plus we are looking at these enhanced visuals through a low bitrate stream and TH-cam compression. Also let’s not forget the natural enhancements to existing games. Digital Foundry has been critical of Elden Ring performance (you mention that game). The only way they found for the game to maintain 60fps was by running the PS4 version on the PS5. We could circle back to developers wanting more powerful hardware but I can think of a dozen games that have lack luster performance that raw horsepower will get them to a locked 60fps and less reliant on VRR. There is no update required for these “enhancements” just need more overhead as demonstrated with Elden Ring. Personally I think it’s best to pass judgement once we see reviews from places like digital foundry and others. And keep in mind it’s a luxury item no one really needs. If you want it and can afford it great there is an option for you, if you don’t that who cares?

I have a PS5 I wont be getting a PS5 pro. There is no need. Sony should have waited. Their exclusive high end games are a joke theres like 5 gamee which can use the new tech. However one area Im happy to be a Sony shill on is price compared to PC. This is why I bought a PS5 for 500 usd. Instead of a 2k dollar computer. There is no argument here and Sony really need to hammer home that point.

I only eve bought a launch console. I will never buy another console again, you can buy an amazing PC for the same price as a ps or X. A PC you can use for everything else not just gaming.

The only people to blame for this are the People who paid crazy prices from scalpers for PS5s in 2020. That is why it costs $700, that is why sony only increases the price of the PS5.

I don't like Xbox or Sony anymore and Nintendo is circling the drain soon too. You know that backlog we all have? Time to make a dent in it. I have YEARS worth of games to tide me over for the rest of my life probably. RPGs, shooters, adventure, dungeon crawlers, clssic PC, consoles from the NES era and on. The industry could collapse and I'd still be on that. The only saving grace is that Nintendo games are still good, but the $70 price-point on Zelda was hubris and it will only get worse.

Great video! Yeah it sucks how expensive consoles are now, especially coming from a college student. I honestly really want to play the new Astrobot and other games that are exclusive to the PlayStation, but it’s not worth spending all of my savings for it when I need it for food and gas. Hopefully the switch 2 whenever that is announced is much more affordable lol

The shafting of the UK with the price is actually ridiculous. Like you said, should be illegal. It’s like the marketing team didn’t know that the pound sterling is 1.3 times the value of a US dollar. As it stands now I completely fail to see the market for this thing. The industry’s being choked by high risk long development times and unthinkably large sums of money sunk into each game, and they make a massively overpriced console to cater to that crowd? Their biggest critical success of the year just launched and it’s a game that would not at all benefit from the new model. That says something about what people want vs what the industry thinks people want.

Love this game’s art style and character design. It’s aged unbelievably well. The tests to increase game difficulty is a super clever idea. That way players also naturally end up at a fair diffficulty that they can handle. And when you improve you can just go back, play some more of it, and the difficulty will adapt to you.

Very excited for this. I would likely be picking this up on switch anyway or switch 2 if its out by then. I actually love the look of the original and MUCH prefer the hand drawn portraits of the original but still excited to play the remake for sure. I think sky sc and azure are the 2 best games in the whole series.

Nintendo financed the game, that means it will be exclusive to Nintendo and maybe it will come out on pc and ps after 1 or 2 years or never. Falcom said that he is thinking of bringing it on ps and pc but the probability is low, it is a pity that the first remake will be on Nintendo, Why he thinks the game looks good and that it will come out in English for the first time on its first day of release, why nintendo got his hands on it there
