    Im not a tower climber , but im a retired welder over 35 years and i use to weld the ring plates up inside of silos that were high as 320 feet high, we'd have to climb up a ladder inside mounted to the concrete wall and go all the way up through a square hole and mount our ropes and rigging on top so our welding leads could be tied off where we were on scaffolding, we walked around in a circle on 2x10 welding the ring plates up , we welded our own lugs to the plates where our safery harness would snap in , had to be tied off a hundred percent , if you think a silo three feet thick of concrete over three hundred feet high wouldn't sway think again, youd be on top and that thing felt like it moved fifteen feet everytime it swayed ....I couldn't imagine how far these towers would sway ...

    For all you Geniuses. I'm a professional parachutist and you can't jump from that height safely so no he was not using any parachute. I can really guarantee that. A pro needs at least 2000 ft and that is a top notch jump pro. Look it up and tell me I'm wrong. I jump all the time and certainly not off a fixed object. So all your parachute comments are totally wrong. That is not happening here or any tower. It takes them 4 or so hours to climb up the tower and a little less to come down a 1500-2000 ft tower and they are in top shape and well trained to do that job. They don't get paid that well either. $25-$75 per hour and that is it, I promise you that. Still want the job? I don't think so.

      Just enough to not make careless decisions. Oddly enough jumping off the antennas does feel safer than climbing up, especially the 1000’ antennas, there’s nothing you can do if you slip and fall all thousand feet down those ladder wells.

    Ok I have to ask, what proof do you have that lumix uses Sony sensors? Because lumix themselfs says they don’t use the sensors everyone says they do, I.e. Sony sensors. Infact a quick search will show Panasonic holdings corp manufactures the sensors for lumix cameras. Plus a quick search says also they don’t use Sony sensors in the s5iix.

    Great camera. I use it for run n gun travel videos. Stabilization is perfect. I shoot everything exclusively handheld, I don't carry any stabilizers or a tripod with me. I combined my S5IIx into a rig with Blackmagic VideoAssist and SmallRig V-mount batteries. A real small cinema camera. BRAW is wonderful to work with in DaVinci.

    Thanks is for great video Devon. I became aware of it because I'm thinking about getting this cam myself. But what I also found really interesting was your self-produced accessories. Especially the micro mount. Unfortunately I saw that you "only" ship in America. Is there also a way to send it internationally? Let's talk about it directly. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Given that this situation of being caught on top of a tower would come up fairly often. If I am correct the current solution appears to be parachute down. But, with as much wind as I have experienced in the midwest, parachuting may save your life but high winds would toss you miles from the car, or plaster you against a building. I am surprised that the tower manufacturer does not provide a Faraday cage as a safe place to wait out the storm? Maybe 1/2 way down and near the top. We're not talking a lot of money. Actually it could be solid metal for rain shelter too. But, then I have never been on a tower. Any thoughts anyone?

I also use Gobe variable ND filters, shot everything here at f2.8. Everything shot in vlog, graded in DaVinci Resolve.

    • @DevMcLaughlin
      @DevMcLaughlin 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad I could help ya! I’d personally still aim for -14 LUFS for any other social media platform, it’s the perfect target for mobile. This moreso changes quite a bit more with music as a producer when you’re uploading your audio to TH-cam, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, etc. Each requires a slightly different LUFS, which is more important to accommodate to when your content is audio only. That said, I found these references with a quick google search, so they may work as a rule of thumb. Realistically if you’re actually using a limiter for IG or TikTok content you’re doing more than 95% of content creators and you’ll be fine even with minor changes if it sounds good to ear: -Facebook: -16 LUFS (Loudness Units Full Scale) -Instagram: -14 LUFS -Snapchat: -13 LU -TH-cam: -14 LUFS -Spotify & Tidal: -14 LUFS -SoundCloud: -11 LUFS -iTunes: -16 LUFS When checking the masters of music I’d produced in the past I used to use www.loudnesspenalty.com/ before they created VSTs to do the same, super helpful.

    Great video! What are your thought on headphones vs monitors when adjusting audio levels?

    • @DevMcLaughlin
      @DevMcLaughlin 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks buddy, the best answer I can give is to use what you know and compare your audio levels and mix to a reference video on the platform you’re publishing to. Once you become familiar enough it’ll be come second nature. Headphones are best for frequencies above 150-200hz or so but won’t give you a picture of what’s happening on the lowest end, most monitors won’t either if they’re under 7-8” or so. Headphones also offer far better spatial representation of stereo audio. Monitors can be fantastic in an acoustically treated room, but can cause a buildup of certain frequencies which may cause you to become too clinical in scooping out areas in your eq curve. In the cases where you can’t hear sub frequencies above, visual aids of the low end are what you’ll need to rely upon. Luckily videos for TH-cam and most areas outside of broadcast or cinema videos are published don’t have heavy reliance on low end output (I think your iPhone can put out 200hz at most ballpark). It’s most important you’re happy with how your audio sounds when played back on the MOST LIKELY place people are watching your video (iPhone, TH-cam on the TV? Laptop, etc), this is one reason DJs will mix their music differently for radio, club, etc to optimize frequency bands. if I’m producing / mastering music I’m switching between headphones I know like the back of my hand with a flat frequency response and monitors which push out low end, then I’ll do a listen through of the track on my car (a frequency map I’m familiar with) and my phone. Obviously music alone intentionally occupies the entire frequency band 20hz-20,000hz to have a well rounded track, videos for TH-cam it’s a little less important if it’s not a short film, music video, cinematic sequence, or it isn’t important to you as the producer. Personally I still want to make sure everything is well rounded, and sounds as good as it can on all playback devices.

I really value those who have a genuine sense about what they share. I can only imagine how hard it is to stay true to what you want to create and share, and not chase the views or the ad money or whatever may alter the original concept or plan. Im always pleasantly surprised when i come across a rare person who has some genuine and unique insights and are willing to share them with a bit of vulnerability. I think your channel is fantastic.

    How are sigma lenses on this camera?

    • @DevMcLaughlin
      @DevMcLaughlin 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Really good. They really are beautiful lenses. I haven’t noticed any difference in the mechanic performance of Sigma vs Panasonic on Panasonic bodies, AF is fantastic. I’m sure one could notice chroma differences, but nothing strong enough to warrant changes to a grade. Biggest thing I had to get used to was the opposite direction you must rotate Sigma lenses’ Zoom ring vs Panasonic lenses, which can make swapping between the two lenses on a run and gun shoot prone to mistakes in reframing. For reference, I’ve shot the following lenses on the S5IIx: 7artisans 12mm APS-C, Sig 16-28mm, Sig 24-70mm, Pano 50mm, Pano 85mm, Pano 70-200mm.
