After 20 years of Spectrum and 3 years of OTX/EdgeTX, I just bought a x20RS and I loved it immediately. Just took a few videos and one day to get everything working and I have started converting my receivers to FrSky. I was super happy until I installed the first stabilized receiver. It's a AP SR6 Mini and it works fine except when I power the model, the right aileron goes to waaayyy more than full deflection (like 90 degrees) for a second, then back to center. I have not had any luck with the support desk as they just keep telling me that I need to do a self check. I did all that many times but the problem remains. I actually bought 2 of these and they both do the same exact thing on channel 1. I sent a video to the support guy because if I can't fix this issue I will have to go back to my AS3X receivers for stabilization. It will kill my servo and aileron hinge quickly.

Finally a simple explanation to a not so complex subject. Some videos have gone and on and on, yours, short and to the point.

Hey Steve, I just viewed your E8 episode on Flap flight mode and have a question. In OpenTx, I set up a take-off and landing flight mode that allows me to trim out the elevator independently as needed. It appears that your setup over-complicates this programming by duplicating the flight mode in the Mixes section. Why is that? If the plane balloons when you hit the flap switch, you will always want an elevator mixed in - like on take-off. Second question, in OpenTx, I can carry over my normal flying trims to my Flap Flight Modes so that when I hit a flight mode switch, I don't have to retrim the plane out in addition to adding elevator trim with the flaps. How do I do this in Ethos? Thanks for all that you do!!

Hi frsky steve ,I need some help I have all the updated firmwear on my radio and the correct luas for the new stabilisers but the last lua screen won't turn on any ideas would help the screen is the srx stab screen when I got to turn the stabiliser on it gives you the option but won't let me do anything with it ,iam lost thanks

Hay Steve I know it's off topic but I can't get the tab lua working on my radio the radio is on 1.5and the luas I've downloaded is the v3 version,and the sr8 plus is running 1.011,everything works fine until I get to the atb pages in the lua,it just won't turn on I've tried everything can you help please.

Hi Steve Here is a list of issues I am facing. This is the new X20 RS. I am coming from Spektrum. 1. My throttle reverse is always on. Even after using the mixer to reverse the signal of the channel , there is no response. I had to play with the pwm center in the outputs page and made it 1000 to make the EDF blow air rather than sucking air !!! Is there a less technical way to that. Why it didn’t work with reverse! 2. How to assign certain channel to a switch. My stability mode gyro is having 3 modes on, off, limited banking. Now it is always on. Should I try to make this through a mix. What is the relation of mix with channel assignment!! 2- How to set a Percentage timer (timer that work based on the level of throttle). Would be great to have it as a built in option. 3- How to get and use better clearer voice / speech since the current voice specially text to speech are low quality.. for example “motor on” will be read motron quickly and so on. The FRsky Radio Quality feels superb , so why the voice is that quality and why many usual voice are not there , like landing flaps, takeoff flaps and so on. 4- is there a way to make the radio read the text in sequence. Currently if I move the switch it will read only the speech for the first position but not the second position, unless I wait till it finishes speaking then I move the switch to the other position to hear its speech. In spektrum the radio will read both in sequence so I know the latest switch position. The same problem happens in case of three position switch. It will read the second (say mid rates) but not the last position (say high rates). !! 5- would be very helpful to include the new required settings as a built in , like throttle reverse, channel assign, flap system.. etc. the current flap “mixing” is confusing, and to work well you need to link the elevator to flap channel not to the flap switch, then you need to create a curve to work correctly and so on. FRsky engineers can do this simpler. 6- would be very helpful to have a channel assign function separately. Mixing should be for mixing channels as the name indicates. Would be thankful if anyone could help too. Thanks

@FrSky-Steve How would I set up flaps so that the controller moved them from the neutral point (in line with the airfoil) to maximum down deflection, BUT also could have a flight mode that raised the flaps slightly for reflex?

Wow, transferring model configs (.bin) and the bitmaps between radios is a really cool feature… thanks for going over this.. the only challenge is between the X18SE transferring the 640k bitmap to the X20S is quite slow and the transfer times out around 15% transfer. The .bin config file was immediate with no issues. Is there a file size limit in the transfer state? Do you know if a point to point flash cable (male-male) servo cable can be hooked up through boot loader (on source) and via ethos (destination) to mitigate the need for a PC interface? Transfer also failed on a 200kb bitmap.

Are you sure you need an external module for a Tandem transmitter to use TWIN? That doesn’t seem accurate.

I’m still waiting for a more in depth tutorial on stabilization manipulation that shows features kin to my spektrum so I can use my frsky stabilized receiver and 20s transmitter how I like. Maybe you can break them down like twobros does for as3x? I’ve been using gains mixes and other stabilization mixes (throttle based or gear based gains adjustments)for a while on spektrum and would like to do the same. For me it is not a learning curve. It is just so confusing.

TH-cam in general is great. Problem however is that following upload one's content becomes obsolete as time rolls by and technology is updated. So, are we using LUA scripts or not for calibration and setup? Having both loaded on the transmitter (TD X20RS in my case, running FW 1.5.12), I suspect conflict. I see no yellow light from the Rx during calibration, though the Tx is telling me “completed”. Enabling stability from OFF to ON reverts to off immediately. “I am” doing something wrong. Help me FrSky Steve… you’re my only hope

Hi Steve nice vid series, question can you assign a voice to a stick position? Something like if you move your throttle stick to the full throttle position you get a call out “full throttle”if you add your own sound to the sound pack.

I really like Flaps on Flight Modes. Really makes it easy to adjust during your flight when deploying your flaps.

These videos are fantastic for a new FrSky user like myself, thank you! Is there a way to have the countdown timer start when the throttle is at a certain position instead of the first click you move it? I don’t really want the timer to countdown if the engine is at a really low idle.

Hey FrSky Steve, how do you test your setups, i.e., is the simulator mapped to the keyboard so that you can flip, for instance, Switch A? Are the sticks mapped also so you can manipulate aileron, elevator, throttle, and rudder? Thanks for the videos and any replies.

Problem with using SA⬇️ when you turn your flaps off, your elevator mixing revert to neutral with no delay causing you to balloon as your flaps have a delay built into them. You would be better suited to use a logic switch A>X A being flaps chanel and X being 16% so the elevator mixing doesn't work at 15% or lower

That's cool, I just use fade in and fade out in flight modes.

@ FrSky Steve - As a long time Ethos user, this video does explain how to setup a FrSky RX gyro. But to show noobs how to do this you need to show people how you do this on the radio screen.... I spend a lot of time showing new Ethos user how to do this. It is "easy" to setup. But for noobs this is not easy to understand first time around. And thank you for the work you do Steve, please keep doing it ;)

I’ve just recently got a TDSr10 and through your excellent videos I’ve pretty much solved all the issues I had with flight modes! The only thing I can’t seem to solve is configuring which channels in the receiver are controlled by gyro. I have my gyro modes setup in 2 flight modes so I can adjust trims separately. So works great. But I’m running my nose wheel on channel 8 and it’s affected by the gyro through pitch? I read in the manual that you can program the ADV through the S.port interface on a Pc. Can’t seem to find any info on how to do this, can you help? Kind regards Richard.😎

Use these receivers on all e.d.f.'s !! Extremely easy to setup. Very reliable! Don't require a standalone gyro! But. There are some rules that must be followed in order to setup properly.

I programed the multi-function buttons set to momentary. This easily accommodates 3 receivers and each button defaults to off. This also allows a convenient way to check each receiver as part of my pre-flight checks.

Hi Steve, many thanks for this video series. Can you make a video on assigning sound/voice to a three way switch? Since updating Ethos to 1.5.11 things have changed on setting this up and there are no new YT videos. There is no more "Play Track" and I can't find how to select particular sound files, EG: I need low rates, medium rates, high rates. I'm very new to all this and a bit reluctant to "Mess" with it and get something wrong! If you can help, I would be very grateful, many thanks. Rick....

Been using this for a bit and it works great, especially at an event where the pilots who are flying are gathered in the center to communicate and you can check your time instantly without looking at the Tx if someone else needs to land. I use the button on the left for the timer callout and the right button for head temp callouts on gas planes.

The long press options was something I didn't even know existed let alone that there was a free one which was assignable, very much appreciated, you just wouldn't know unless someone told you, cheers Steve.

You did it wrong you got 100% no switch position and 100% in the switch position 😂

I have voices on all 3 flap positions. As I go directly from Flaps up to Full Flaps, the voice for Mid Flap is heard. On the 3 way switches can the mid position voice be unspoken when going directly from position 1 to position 3?

Using 1.5.9 and TD SR6, can't get Stab to turn on. Can't seem to find info on where LUA should be...

I'm not understanding the throttle cut on a spring return switch. Is this just for in flight?
